Great Girls Night

Went here w/ a bunch of girls for dinner. We shared a bunch of appys and entres. The server was nice and patient when we ordered the drinks and food.
Everything we ordered was good and consistent. There was nothing that we did not like.
This place is gorgeous and spacious with live music in the background.

Will definitely go again. It's also a nice place to take your significant other.

I went to Beyond today for breakfast with my girlfriends. We wanted to try something other than our usual Joe's Grill breakfast. Since girlfriend L works at the hospital, she passes the breakfast/brunch sign for Beyond at every shift.
We've been to Century Plaza a few times before to enjoy the spa and have noticed their recent renovations to the entire lobby area. It looks like a million bucks! Unfortunately, I can't say the same for service at Beyond.
The prices are pretty good, but you'll notice a very limited menu.
We each ordered the Beyond breakfast for $7. Being used to Joe's portions, I couldn't help but feel a little ripped off here. As girlfriend K says, you're paying for the dishes and the renovations. $7 bought us 2 small poached eggs that were abnormally sour from the vinegar, a toothpick skewer of 1/2 a strawberry, a grape and a cherry, 2 nice sausages (best part of the meal) and a tiny helping of roasted shaved nugget potato. Oh yes, and toast. Weird that for 3 of us, they brought 7 halves of toast. (wondered how they calculated that one)
The service left little to be desired. She was nice and all but we didn't understand how 2-3 tables that were seated after us were served food before us?? By the time one couple were finished their meals and their plates were being taken away, we still haven't gotten ours yet? Lucky for us, we have great conversations to cushion the wait time. Unlucky for a couple that were seated beside us who experienced the same thing and were quite agitated by it.
It also took forever for our bill to come, then took more time for our change to come.

Nice Spot at the Century Plaza

Recommended. Checked out Beyond for a friend's birthday on a Friday night prior to heading down to Yuk Yuks. Nice place with some tasty food.

Food - Sampled the Surf and Turf - crab cake, flat iron steak, mashed potatoes and veggies. Crab cake was excellent, though a bit on the small side. Flat iron steak cooked medium-rare was superb.

Service - Good service, especially for our 15+ person group size. The only issue was paying for the food, as there was only 1 credit card / debit card processing machine and it took forever.

Value & Ambiance - A bit pricey for what you get. Ambiance was nice, though a funny cross between sports bar in the lounge area and fancy restaurant in the back.

'Beyond' my expectations

I came here with a few close friends for a christmas dinner. When we first stepped inside, we were a little worried that we picked the wrong place due to how empty the restaurant was. Our worries were gone when the food arrived. We ordered the crab cake and scallops for appies. The scallops were only okay but the crab cake was delicious. For mains, we had the sablefish, halibut, the pork, and the special of the night (steak, lamb chop, a prawn and scallop skewer for $26 - it's a steal). Everyone was very happy with their mains.

The service was okay, our waitress was nice and polite. My only minor complaint was that the food took a long time to arrive despite how empty the restaurant was. However, our meals were all cooked to perfection so it was worth the wait.

The restaurant itself is beautiful and very spacious. The dining room area is huge and we could actually have a nice quiet conversation, unlike other downtown restaurants which blasts their music.

I would definitely come back to this restaurant again.

Gotta give this restaurant an outstanding review for a great night experience!
Wow, what a nice room! Very luxe and modern interior with a great dining area and an even nicer lounge area. Props to the designer!
Service was very good. Our server Fabio treated our table of 11 with the upmost care and handled all of our requests in a very professional manner. Thank you!
Food was pretty delicious! Everyone got to try a sampling of each others dishes and everyones reaction was yum!
Would likely return to sit in the lounge

For $28 it was ok

Went to Beyond on a friday night to give their dine out menu a try.
It was a so so experience. The restaurant is quite nice with multi-tier and different styling for each tier, however our table was very close to the entrance and right along the pathway, so customers were contantly walking by us and our table was small, the hostess didnt bother with coat check either.
one good thing about our table is we can see the kitchen clearly...kitchen is very clean, spot-free.

Food was okay, my salmon appy was kinda bland, tho the other appy was good, it was like tofu sausage. I had the sablefish as entree, it was flavourful, my fd had the beef, it was just ok. Dessert was decent.

portions were huge..my salmon appy is not too much smaller than an entree at a common restaurant. 2 pretty big pieces of sablefish, where normally you would only get one piece.

For $28 it was ok, but Mosaic also at $28 dine out is a lot better.

My friends and I had a birthday dinner at the restaurant for 60 people. Service was very poor, servers didn't serve us water till after an hour and a half. Management was unprofessional. Food was very bland.

I had a great experience there before, but will never go back again.

I have been to the Beyond Restaurant 3 times now and each time it has been an great experience. The Sunday Brunch is the best I have ever seen and would suggest it to anyone. Go hungry because there is so much great food you will want to try. I have also been there for a romantic dinner with my husband - the food and service was outstanding - the atmosphere is cozy, romantic and offers you privacy. The third time was with my high school friends - I have to say that night was the best dinner I have ever been served in a restaurant - Our waiter Benny had a great sense of humor, very knowledgable and professional. He was also very patient and knew just when to show up at our table. So whatever the occasion you have - this restaurant offers it all - atmosphere, service and outstanding food.

My Wife and I went to this restaurant to celebrate 33 years of marriage and we had a great time. The food was outstanding. If you go you have to try the crab cakes. Truly the best crab cakes I have ever had. Eli our waiter took great care of us and made the whole experience very enjoyable. I would reccommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great meal in a nice and cozy environment.

Know your drinks

Asked for an Old Fashioned and the bartender did it wrong. Ended up going up to the bar to discuss it with him and the guy puts Triple Sec in it and insisted that that's how an Old Fashioned is made. While he made another drink for us since we disagreed on how a classic cocktail should be made I'm highly disappointed that a bartender at a place like that doesn't know how to make an Old Fashioned correctly.

The service was otherwise good and it's a nice place to hang out for drinks if you're in the area - the waitresses are hot.

Attended dinner this week with my girlfriend. We went for the stage pack currently being offered, a great deal. Had a great dinner & a nice laugh at the end of the night. Overall, the service was good, the food was decent, and the restaurant was really nice. Although, not as busy as we thought it should be, we enjoyed a nice evening. Great place for dates.

gotta agree with the first review

this place is all about appearances, right down to the food

Inattentive Service and Awful food

We were celebrating a friend's birthday and decided to try Beyond for the very first time. What a mistake!! At first impression, the restaurant was absolutely beautiful and I completely agree with all the other reviewers in regards to the ambiance. However, the service and food was atrocious! 4 of us were the first to arrive at the restaurant. After being shown to the table, we were not greeted by any server/manager, or asked for our drink orders. Water was not even served to our table. We waited for 20 minutes before I finally had to go and speak to the restaurant manager. The manager was very apologetic and immediately served us himself.

Now onto the food. A few of us ordered from the set menu and the rest ordered a la carte; most of us ordered seafood though. All the seafood dishes were overcooked and lukewarm. My appetizer of mussels was almost cold because it was sitting on the pass because our server forgot to bring it to the table. The arctic char that my friends had from the set menu was so overcooked that it was hard and rubbery. My friend's cod was cooked from frozen so the middle of the fish was mushy. When we told our server this, she made no apologies. Her actually response was "really?" then she walked away.

It's too bad. Beautiful restaurant, drinks were yummy, but the food and management need an overhaul.

Amount of food per serving is a little light but everything else was fantastic. Service was excellent and so was the atmosphere. We also really like the fact that Beyond is an Ocean Wise restaurant as well.

One of a kind atmosphere with a great selection of gourmet foods. The atmosphere and menu are great for romantic dinner and probably lunch. It is also not on the street or on a busy street so it's a good place for secret meetings. They really could be a neat little bar. Service quality isn't 'beyond' because none of the waitresses are dressed hot but there is a cute blonde one.

To my surprise, I didn't think I'd see such a beautiful restaurant inside the hotel. Food was good, service was wonderful, especially the host; named Bob; very friendly & super helpful, made out stay very comfortable. Service was very prompt, and the ambiance was great.

Highly recommend this place.

A Wonderful Evening

Last night my family had a great night out at Beyond. We started off with cocktails, the beyond bliss truly lives up to it's name. We then asked our server Hilary (the best server ever!) to choose a selection of starters for us. Not only were they very tasty but the 4 dishes were easily divided between the 7 of us. All of us really enjoyed our main course, duck, chicken, steaks & lamb. We asked our server to choose 2 desserts for us to share & again she was spot on. The mini brules was my favorite. I would recommend Beyond to everyone & look forward to going again.

I was there with my date, the atmosphere was great, it gave me the feeling of modern urban lifestyle. The food was alright, price are decent. I had fun. They have a long list of wine. Range from 35 a bottle to over 200 dollars. Waitness was not pushy.. but always around for help.

I dined at Beyond with girlfriends and we were pleased with our meal. We shared all of the foods to have a taste everything we ordered: Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, Barnston Island Field Greens, Spot Prawn Ceviche and Crispy Spring Rolls for starters; Westcoast Bouillabaisse, Mussels and Frites and the Seared Halibut for our main course; and Mini Brulees, Dark Chocolate Mousse Dome and Double Chocolate and Rocky Road Brownie. All of the foods were prepared and presented very well. The staff were friendly but, service could be improved. Our server was a little slow in getting our food and drinks to our table and yet, the restaurant was not that busy. The place is spacious and hip. I would definitely go back.
