Best Quality specializes in vegetarian Indian food.
This place is not fancy, really more like a snack shop than a meal place, we stop by here almost every time we are on Main Street. We almost always get the Chana Bhatura (fried bread dough with spicy garbanzo beans), the hot samosas to go are 50 cents each -- we often take 10 home with us, or bring a bag to a party. The sweets are good too, try the gulab jamun or the jalepi (at 2.00 a pound it's a cheap and sticky orange pleasure!). Overall, very inexpensive, great food, the owners are as sweet as can be and we always enjoy our visit.
Best Quality Sweets & Restaurant is worth travelling down a few more blocks from the "main" shopping / restaurant area of Sunset Main St. This was our first experience. We bought a selection of sweets and snacks. All were fresh & flavourful. The service was quick & friendly. The value is fabulous considering the prices seem to be lower than any other place we've been to. The ambiance is not a trendy sit and linger sort in the least sense but it's very clean & casual. We are already talking about how we would like to sit in next time & take sweets to go. There was a steady flow of customers so it looked like they have regulars- this said a lot to us. So are we pleased to say this is our new go to place for sweets? YES. :)
I admit I heard a lot of hype about this place. I ventured down and bought some sweets and an entree. I was surprised at how cheap the bill was, nice!
The food, however, did not convince me to go back, I have had fresher tasting, more flavourful food at other indian spots like Nirvana on Main. The interior looks grungy and the lighting is awful...maybe I just ordered the wrong menu items?
When Best Quality Restaurant opened under 'Shera Brothers' Vegetarian Restaurant, it was my favorite restaurant. Prices were good, food was wonderful and service was excellent. I have notices as they have gotten busier and it is not the same people that used to run it. Quality has gone down, and service is poor.
About a month ago i was expecting company for lunch and i decided to go to 'Best Quality' to pick up some sweets. I brought it home and put it in the fridge, later on when opened the container it smelled really bad, like old cooking oil. I called the restaurant and the man said thank you and hung up on me, didn't even feel the need to apologize. I decided to try the rest of the food and Gulab Jamun smell like rotten milk. I went back to the restaurant and i asked them to replace my order with fresh food, i told him that Gulab jamun smell like rotten milk. Man at the reception told me that Gulan jamun are made with rotten milk that is why. I am an Indian and i know what it is made of and how it should smell. I asked again to replace it. He said that he won't replace it. I left the stuff their and it cost me around $20.. I left and i went to another restaurant and bought fresh sweets. I called him and told him that i will be registering a complaint with BBB, then he told me that i can have my money back. He told me, "What will i do with it."
I paid good money for it why is it my responsibility to figure out what will you do with it? It was not a charity.
It is saddening that they gave me left over from previous day or worse and then didn't want to take responsibility for it. Instead of apologizing for the mistake he told me that it is suppose to smell rotten.
I have been going to this little place for almost 2 years now. Being East Indian myself, I am picky when it comes to good Indian food. Everything here is vegetarian and it tastes as good as my mom used to make!! Lunch specials is the best deal - under $7. Try it you won't be sorry!!
