We have been to this place a few time before and I was surprised to see that its been updated since (Yes it’s been that long since), anyhow it was about half full but where we wanted to sit was reserved but they said it was ok, I guess they could see we would not be there all night and they would have the table ready in time for the next part – lucky us!
Our server brought us water right away (shock we didn’t even ask for it and this is how it should be in my opinion), we were not sure what we wanted to drink yet but were sure what we wanted to eat so she took our order and came back with some drink suggestions, I took one of her suggestions and it came to the table within a few minutes. Along with the salad for my husband’s entree as normal I pick at it, it was nice and crisp, it was a nice house salad, unlike some with just lettuce, this one had had lettuce, celery, carrot, purple cabbage, and tomato, and a homemade Italian dressing, it was fresh and crisp, it was beautiful and good!
Our server popped back to our table and scooped the plate up when we were done with it before we knew it and before we knew it our dinners where out. I was pleasantly surprised by the portions, and then the taste was really good.
I ordered the Cheese Tortellini Alfredo and it was one of the best I have had since the days of the old Quarto (4th/Burrard), I also eat the veggies off his plate to which were really good, I asked him how his was (I assumed it was good as he sucked it back pretty fast), he said it was good, he had the Veal with Spaghetti to which he said he it was softer then he liked (but he likes it kind of hard so this is a common statement from him, so I should have tried it).
Anyhow this is somewhere I would recommend to anyone and everyone! If you get our server Connie then you are really in great hands!
We went there at lunch time on a weekday and the restaurant was about half full. There was only one waitress, a very cheerful and energetic one. I was impressed with the fast and efficient service. Food was OK, not particularly impressive. I have had better spaghetti with meat sauce at other places, but if I am in the same area again, I won't mind going there again.
I am staying in the area for vacation. Best Neighbours is the closest to my hotel. I ate there three seperate times and had three different meals. I am suprised by the other reviews on this site. I did not have a negative experience at all! I had lasagne, spaghetti and the chicken soulvaki. The meals were tasty, the soulvaki being the best. The tzatziki is better than any I've tried. The restaurant was very clean, the atmosphere nice and the wait staff pleasant. I eat out alot and travel alot and so I think I can safely say that this is a good, consistent restaurant. I will return here to eat when I'm back in three months.
I returned to the Best Neighbor for dinner recently and was very disappointed. I used to visit every few weeks a couple of years ago. The food this visit was horrific…tasted like bottled sauce poured over prawns and chicken. The Greek Salad was mushy and flavorless. The vegetables were served with a fake cheese sauce – they type you get at a fast food nacho chip stand at the local fair. What are they thinking??? Cheese sauce on steamed vegetables – are you kidding me??? The only edible part was the rice. The restaurant was nicely renovated, the bathrooms spotless and newly renovated also. Maybe they should have put the money towards a real chef instead of hiring someone that can operate a microwave and open a bottle of sauce. The waitress was fantastic – I think she was embarrassed serving the sub-standard food. She needs to quit her job and get a new job where she could be appreciated for her friendly service. Will I return….no.
My family loves going to this place. It is in walking distance for my grandparents and almost as close for us. The food isn't spectacular but it is always good sized portions and tasty. I wouldn't mind a nicer salad or a bit more diversity of the menu but if you feel like a good steak and potatoes or a nice vegetable pizza this is super. They've always been ver considerate even when booking large groups or showing up late for a reservation. It's a relaxed comfortable place for the family to go to and not have to cook at home. You get a lot of food and its healthy. The desserts aren't great but we generally go home for dessert. Beer is on tap and a good price especially on certain days (Monday, I think, but I could be wrong). I would give a higher number rating except the words don't match. I'd say 4/5 but I wouldn't say outstanding. Its just solid and reliable, which is actually quite an outstanding thing to have in the neighbourhood.
I am not sure why we continue to go back to this restaurant. The food is ok, the service would be better if she wasn't run off her feet but today took the cake! First off I order a shrimp salad, I got a chicken salad and when I questioned the waitress she argued with me about what I had ordered and then continued with "this is why I always repeat back the order". Don't argue with the customer. Then when it came time to pay the bill she didn't have enough bills in her float so I offered to pay first so my friend wouldn't get $10 in coins. But after taking my money she handed my friend just that $10 in coins and said, I hope you don't mind the bills have to last me all day. YES, she minded. Won't be going back!
