Fresh baguette sandwiches, baked on-site, vegetarian options. Soup, cookies, specialty ice cream soda drinks.
This cafe on Davie Street has THE BEST BAGUETTE SANDWICHES IN TOWN. The owner is a really nice guy, always friendly and personable. The SOPRANO is my favorite with Italian deli meats with pesto mayo and jalapeno peppers. My buddy had the Little Californian: roast turkey, avocado and persto mayo. He loved it. The bread they use is always fresh and tasty. It is a bit pricey but well worth it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I heard alot about this place, and ordered a turkey baquette for my dinner tonight. I found the owner was friendly, and discovered their sister store, was La Galleria in North Van.
The one thing I notice was variety of choices, larger space, friendlier service, but the cost was the same. My turkey would have been $7.00, but I asked for cheese for extra $2.00, so be prepared to have full wallet.
Praying that their baquette will be improvement from their North Van, and when I had it, loved it.
I got lots of turkey, enough mustard with toppings, which blended really well together. I definately like the baquette, had a nice texture and wasn't dry, so added points for this spot.
I like my baquette, but with the prices, It will be awhile to try them again. Can we say Ouch.
i adore this gem iunno why the previouse review only gave it a 3 star overall rating when nothing bad was mentioned anyhow.... i like th elocation while your waiting for your sandwich i enjoy watching busy davie st people go by.... YOU MUST TRY A SCREAMER THE BEST SLUSHY ICE CREAM THING EVER I GOT THE TRIPLE DECKER SCREAMER WITH CREAM SODA... GREAT COMBO the food is fantastic i recomend teh turkey if you like subtle (not heavy) hints of cranberry, the chickens great the pesto mayo they use for the sandwiches is lovely and the bread is always flaky and yum... go try it for yourself and you'll see as far as sandwich shops go this ones pretty special. i think its better then... well you know.
I'm not really a deli/sandwich type of person, however one of my friends insisted I try Baguette Time. Seeing as I live in the West End it is convenient for me, and I tried it out a year or so ago for the first time. Since then I can't stop myself! Firtst off, the servers there are excellent... and when I say that I don't mean just one of them. All of the servers I've had (owner included) know what sandwich I like and how I like it prepared as soon as they see me come in the door. I don't like to eat out all the time, so they see me about once per month... but they each remember me.
The sandwiches are prepared using fresh bread and top quality ingredients. I think that at approx. $7 for a large baguette it is reasonable priced - you have to keep in mind that this isn't a fast food restaurant... the meals are delivered quickly but the ingredients are quality. I am continually impressed by this place, it's a shame that more people haven't tried it - once is all it took for me to become hooked on it! I don't understand why it's gotten some 3-star reviews (food ratings)... I haven't heard a bad thing about their food or service yet. The quality of the food, the service, and the cleanliness of the restaurant are the most important things to me in terms of rating an establishment - and as far as I'm concerned this place excels in all three categories.
This place is a staple for us. We stop by about once a week to get a couple baguette sandwiches to go.
Staff are always very friendly and likeable. We usually get the chicken baguette or the capicollo or the salami. They're always really good and the bread always seems fresh and baked perfectly. The chicken baguette is actual whole chicken breast, which makes it worth the price. The thing that i think sets these baguettes apart from a place like subway is the fresh ingrediants and the mayonaise... i'm not sure what the recipe for their mayo is, but it's delicious! You really can't even compare this place to something like Subway, which would be like comparing a handmade burger to a patty in a heating tray at McDonalds.
We have also started getting their breakfast combo, which is a baguette with eggs, bacon, cheese and mayo and??, comes with a coffee and a cookie and makes a great start to the day.
See you soon "Baguette Time"
Stopped in on Friday to pick up a couple sandwiches for a quick dinner. We shared a vegetarian (eggplant, roasted pepper, etc.) and a ham baguette. Both were fantastic. Lots of flavour and no skimping on the fillings. The fresh baked baguettes were nice and crisp and chewy as well. The girl behind the counter was very friendly, good service. Sure beats other quick sandwich shops.
After wandering up and down Davie Street trying to decide on what to eat, we chose to 'just get a sandwich'. It turned out to be a really good choice. The breakfast baguette on whole wheat was delicious. The eggs were moist and fluffy and the sauce was complimented the egg and prosciutto nicley. The cream soda screamer hit the spot on a warm spring day and the small size was big enought that I could share it with a friend.
Have always driven by this place but never had a chance to try (parking is horrible around that part). The other day, bf and I walked up davie and stopped in to grab a sandwich. The breakfast menu looked so tempting with about 5 diff styles and all costing $4.99! I'd totally rather have a decent (somewhat healthy) breakfast baguette than tim hortons/mcD, etc. We ended up getting a plain ham/cheese baguette and it was really tasty. Keeping it simple is the way to go! The baguette was really crisp on the outside and soft inside, totally made the sandwich. Definitely will go back for a breakfast one next time!
