Great Tea & Friendly service

I had heard about this location from clients, and decided to check it out the next time I was in Gastown. I've noticed how trendy this little hole in the wall has become, and when you walk in, the tea store is beautiful. I love how modern, relax, bright and great smelling this store was, to enhance my taste buds for tea.

I odered the Chai tea latte, the lady was friendly, including the owner..I sure hope they keep their name, since they were thinking of changing it to Gastown Tea...boring. I paid under $5.00 for the tea. The fragrance was wonderful, the taste was sweet, since I asked for Vanilla and got better with each taste. This place is a treat, so if you want to read a book, people watch, enjoy some pastries and enjoy your tea, this is the spot.

Will be back and I sure hope they keep their name.

Food was just okay, tea was good - but they gave me soy milk *gag*

Looking for a little place to have a hot beverage and something sweet while wondering through Gastown. Came across this little place just on the outskirts of Gastown in Gaolers Mews.

The ambiance was trendy and it all looked nice. I would have liked my chair to be more comfortable - but I was overall satisfied with the "look' of the place.

I had the turtle cheescake. It was only okay. I usually like my desserts a little sweeter. It was only okay value at just under $5. I had the chocolate almond tea. It was tasty and I liked that it was served in a pottery pot and pottery cup. No yucky paper or styrofoam. The tea was tasty, but I think they gave me soy milk on the side as it tasted weird and left some oils floating in my otherwise wonderful cup of tea.

The service was very good, friendly and helpful.

I noted one of the staff members cleaning a table after some patrons had left. She was using an actual cleanser meant for the job. It was obviously a high quality product as there were no chemical odors. I felt confident dining in a clean environment.

I would go back again for a cup of tea, but I would take it without milk.

Great Little (New) Place

I signed up to warn people about an awful tea place (*cough* Adonia), so I'll also give kudos to a great one while I'm at it.

Apres-midi is only about 4 months old, but the ambiance is so serene (yet trendy) that it seems like it's been there forever. Tucked away in a little brick lane in Gastown, this tea house is spacious and stylish, with high walls and pretty lighting. ;)

They offer their tea selection on a sort of pyramid-shaped rack for you to sniff before ordering, but they also let you customize your blends. The teas we've tried are delicious, but the scones are even better! Freshly baked and served with their own unique cream, the savory scones & sweet scones are equally amazing. I don't usually like lemon-anything, but their lemon squares are yummy, too. My friend had cheesecake as well, and that was delicious of course. The price is also on the low side.

Service is IMPECCABLE. The owner and staff are extremely friendly without hovering around or anything. You can tell the owner really loves what he's doing, and has solid plans for adding more to the menu, and improving what's already there. I can't recommend this place enough... It's definitely one of the best places for afternoon tea in downtown Vancouver!
