A basic staple with a monumental side of condescension

This place is hilarious, in the tragicomic sense. The coffee is in the french press style, as opposed to drip, which results (imo) in a grainy texture and weak taste. However, it will put a substantial dent in your budget as it is priced roughly the same by volume as printer cartridge ink. The servers were curt and disdainful. When I had the audacity to ask the cashier if the dark coffee was organic one of them interrupted to say "all coffee is organic". Hmm. When I asked her what she meant, she repeated herself and walked away.

I bought a muffin that looked good but tasted like it was baked some time in the paleolithic. Now I know better than to eat Starbuck's pastries, for example, but after this experience I can recommend you this: get your pastries (on 4th) at Take 5, then buy your coffee - real, drip coffee - at Starbucks. Then, go home to enjoy.

Why? For god's sake, parents: leave your gargantuan baby joggers outside. It is impossible to navigate a coffee shop in this neighborhood. Better yet, leave your dogs and babies at home. Two crying babies inside and a giant dog taking a colossal dump on the sidewalk outside are somewhat detrimental to a simple weekend morning coffee break.

Very nice atmosphere but that's where it ends

I was shoping on 4th when I came by this pretty boutique looking cafe. I was told about it from my friends who say it was pretty good (I think it is the same owners as cafe artigiano). I walked in and was very impressed and went about ordering a ricotta muffin and dark roast coffee. As soon as I bit into that muffin I knew it was not fresh, to add insult the coffee was piping hot and somewhat weak for a dark roast.

Good Coffee Place

As this coffe shop is always full we have only been able to try it once. The coffee was fine and the pastries we had with it were okay too. So often pastries in the coffee shops are dried out but these were not. I recommend it-but be aware it is a very busy spot so you may not be able to get a table.
