The best vegan restaurant in Vancouver
By lewn5 of Vancouver (1 Review)
Submitted Saturday, August 6, 2011 - 12:20am [Dine in]

This is my favorite vegan restaurant in town. The drumsticks are delicious! All mock-meat and vegetable dishes are amazing! They have a fried rice that is really great and the "fried coconut water" is the best desert I ever had. All their dishes taste great! I love it and I recommend it!

Yummy!

In from out of country, looking for a veggie Chinese restaurant. This place is really really good!!! We got kung pow chicken and vermicelli noodles with eggplant & fish. The fake chicken is awesome!! Everything was a little greasy, but hey it is chinese food so thats normal.

Based on the other reviews, we came here for the dim sum but sadly they don't have it anymore.

Service, they were really nice!

We would defiantly come back here on our next trip to Vancouver.

Simply the best veggie restaurant in Vancouver + all day dim sum!
By CVM of Kitsilano, Vancouver (7 Reviews)
Submitted Tuesday, June 29, 2010 - 10:24am [Dine in]

I was so sick and tired of the bad service and mediocre food at all of the veggie places in Vancouver - until 3G arrived. such great food, sweet service, and clean bathrooms!

Kind of silly name, but turns out it stands for something good - Graciousness, Gratefulness and Generosity.
This fits to a tee. or should I say G times 3.

I have been many times now and have never had anything but a good time.
Its clean and not over lit like some places. the staff is very attentive and great with suggestions.
The daikon cakes (from the all day dim sum menu!) are the most comfortng tasty items ever.
the sweet and sour faux chicken, incredible.
and if you are dragging a meat eater along, you must order the drumsticks. unbeliveable really.

this is the closest i have come to lotus pond in victoria and i am so glad they are here in Vancouver.

Go before they close due to lack of customers, so hard to keep a veggie place going, but it would be criminal for this new restaurant to perish.

enjoy!

The new Buddhist Vegetarian

3G supply all the other mock-meat Buddhist veg joints in town - so of course it naturally follows that they'll do it the best themselves. Since the fire and subsequent closure of the Buddhist Vegetarian on Pender at Main - I've been searching for another to compare. This restaurant at least meets if not exceeds those expectations. Well worth the trek out of the downtown core to explore the masters of the craft of mock-meats.

best fake meat I've seen in my life
By Spiderwoman of East Vancouver (13 Reviews)

I give this restauraunt one big WOW cool.
We ordered 49. Assorted vegetables with mutton in curry sauce and 54. Fried with mixed vegetables, nuts, fungi and seafood.
The quality of the fake meat was so great that my fellow omnivore thought that the mutton was from a real sheep. The sauces on each of the dishes were perfect along with the vegetables.
I would recommend either dish to anyone.
The decor was hit and miss. Cool painting of a tree on the wall but the dried flowers on the table made me feel like I stumbled into my granny's bathroom.
Service was super. Everytime my water glass was emptied... it would be refilled seconds later.
I definitely want to go there again. Especially to try the "bean crud". Sounds like a delicious typo.

Incredible Vegetarian Chinese food, and wonderful people
By noshingallday of Quilchena, Vancouver (27 Reviews)

I love the people who work here - they are so friendly and from talking with them on numerous occasions, they genuinely care about giving customers delicious and healthy vegetarian fare. Oils used are fresh, they are constantly experimenting with different items (just wait and see) and their dimsum is delicious. I love the BBQ (char siu bao) buns -- I've missed them so! With my non-vegetarian friends, the sweet and sour pork is a big hit. I love their 3G salad too! I wouldn't suggest it as a budget-friendly vegetarian place but it sure beats a lot of Vegetarian restaurants in terms of food presentation, taste, quality of ingredients, and service.

3Gs stands for greatly overpriced
By JeNoodle of downtown Vancouver (10 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, May 24, 2009 - 9:18pm [Dine in]

portions are small for the prices. if, for two people, you order 3 dishes at Bo Kong, you have plenty of leftovers. three dishes for 2 people at 3Gs = no leftovers. the prices are similar to Bo Kong's, but you get far less than what you pay for there. and what's with the 'cult-of-juice'? another thing: i grew up in a chinese family, and we went out for chinese food all the time. at none of those restaurants were we ever charged for tea...unlike at 3Gs.

we know what the 3 Gs do NOT stand for:

-generous portions
-good prices
-going back

3Gs definitely not the number one choice for these vegans.

Yummy Addition to Cambie Village
By funkybumpkin of Vancouver (13 Reviews)
Submitted Wednesday, May 13, 2009 - 3:49pm [Dine in]

This new vegetarian restaurant on Cambie Street is a great addition to the Village. It has a calming atmosphere and a gracious hostess. Food was yummy! Chicken with cashews and veggies was good, sticky buns was perfect, shortribs with soba noodles was my favourite and juices were okay (not too outstanding).

Also, they have to stop the risotto dishes. They're not risotto, but rice with cream of mushroom sauce.

The menu is fantastic, so I can't wait to try more. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night, so maybe the word is out, but even if you aren't a vegetarian, you should give it a shot.

My new absolute favorite!

Submitted Tuesday, November 10, 2009 - 4:07pm [Dine in]

This is definitely my favorite restaurant in town. The food is awesome, and I say this as a Bo Kong veteran of many years. I adore the food and the people at Bo Kong, but 3G is actually one step better. At 3G the dishes come with delicious proteins, but also a nice selection of vegetables so you don't feel so heavy afterwards. The couple who run the place are so sweet and genuinely helpful. They even made special accomodations for my friend and I when we arrived just before closing. While I wouldn't say that the prices are free, I find that a plate is on par with everywhere else I've eaten. I also love the painting on the walls, very pretty color, it is very uplifting.

I highly recommend 3G, it is consistently delicious! While you're there, make sure to try the vegetarian chicken drumstick appitizer! Soooo good!

Delicious vegetarian dim sum.
By shantastic of vancouver (7 Reviews)
Submitted Saturday, May 16, 2009 - 5:44pm [Dine in]

Cute, bright restaurant with really delicious vegetarian dim sum and chinese dishes for ridiculously low prices. My boyfriend and I shared the bbq pork buns, shrimp dumplings, daikon cake, sweet and sour fish, and stir fried vegetables with tofu. Total: $24...and we were stuffed. They do a great job with the mock meats, the s&s fish was particularly good. Love having a vegetarian dim sum restaurant in the neighborhood as most traditional dim sum dishes have pork hiding in them somewhere. Service was fast and gracious. Definitely recommended.

Definetly Reccomend

Food- We got the satay bean curd roll (amazing), Thai style noodles (also really yummy) and the pepper steak (not my favorite), some tempura and juices. The mint/lime/apple was almost like a virgin mojito and washed down all the food really well.

Service- really friendly, quick and cheerful. I think the owners must have been working.

Value- It really fills you up. Our meal for two came to $50 with tip, but we would have been full the $5 appetizer and $10 worth of fresh juice. Worth splurging for, but if you pick your meal wisely you don't have to.

Ambiance- really nice! The dining room has obviously been renovated recently, and the carpet and furniture looks brand new. They have this yellow motif going on which is nice and cheerful.

I'll definitely go back as there's more dishes I want to try.

Great service, good food

I've only been here once, and the food is quite good. The service is impressive, but the things are quite expensive compared to other Chinese vegetarian places. They do have a great atmosphere though and fresh fruit juices which is great. I would definately try this again. I heard the place is the previous owner of Veggie Favour..which I didn't like because the food was good but TOO EXPENSIVE! I remember when 4 pieces of sushi was like 10 bucks! OUCH. 3G is much better in price and the food was not bad as well.

You will leave hungry and disappointed
By slacker1812 of Vancouver (1 Review)
Submitted Saturday, May 30, 2009 - 12:42pm [Dine in]

My friend walked by and thought it would be a nice place to try. We usually go to Bo Kong, but are always in to try new things.

A group of 7 of us went. We ordered a range of dishes.

Overall the dishes didn't have much flavour, and were definitely small portions. The Sweet and Sour "pork" dish came with about 12 pieces of the "pork" and each piece was smaller than the 6 pieces of pineapple that accompanied it on the plate.

I must completely agree with the previous reviewer in how disappointing the whole experience was.
And what kind of Chinese restaurant charges for tea?

lovely place with delicious healthy vegan food!
By abrigham of Vancouver, BC (1 Review)
Submitted Sunday, May 3, 2009 - 1:45am [Dine in]

I'm always on the look out for vegan-friendly and healthful restaurants, and 3G Restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. 3G just opened two weeks ago; I encourage you to stop by!

The lunch menu features a variety of dim sum dishes, including tofu, congee, veggie meat, and vegetable-based dishes. The food was delicious, immaculately presented, and very healthy. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very bright with a clean cut simple linen table setting. And there were stainless (and therefore reusable!) chopsticks!

3G stands for "Graciousness, Gratefulness, and Generosity". This was demonstrated through both food presentation and the server's pleasant and helpful manner.

I will most definitely be back!

Great New Vegan Friendly Restaurant
By realvegan of Burnaby (1 Review)
Submitted Thursday, April 23, 2009 - 10:22pm [Dine in]

This restaurant is brand new for 2009 and is fantastic!

Most of the dishes are vegan, the service is very friendly, and the staff are aware of what a vegan is (and know which dishes are truly vegan, ie: whey in mock meats).

Unlike others, there is NO MSG and they are NON-RELIGIOUS! It is also brand new and very clean with an open view to the kitchen.

The food variety is fantastic and they offer lunch specials which a menu that changes each week and is a really good deal, only $6 or $7 for a combo soup and meal, and I have tried all of them and they are great!

I highly recommend this restaurant and truly hope that this restaurant thrives as we go here often.
