Absolutely Worst Experience Ever
By RestoConnoisseur of Etobicoke, Ontario (1 Review)
Submitted Saturday, April 4, 2015 - 10:21pm [Dine in]

Food: was ok but nothing special. Portions are large so you won't leave hungry, but the flavour just wasn't there.

Service: absolutely atrocious. They screwed up my order and when it finally came, my friends were already half-done eating. I spoke to the manager and he was rude, argumentative, and to top it off, threatening. His exact words were "I can wait for you all night" which I will leave to your own interpretation. I have never, ever in my 40 years on this planet, been spoken to by the manager of a restaurant in that manner under any circumstance. I was completely and utterly dumbfounded. They have no business running a restaurant in a city like Toronto with customer service like that. The chef even stared at me the entire time from table to doorway, as if he wanted to pick a fight with me. It made me feel uncomfortable to say the least. Don't go here for any reason unless you enjoy verbal abuse and harassment when you make it known to their management that your experience is less than exemplary.

Value: considering how my order was handled, when it came time for the bill, they didn't comp the meal and had the audacity to include a 12% tip. The tip was eventually removed but ever so reluctantly.

Ambiance: considering the verbal (and very audible) tongue-lashing I received by their manager and chef, I would say that this place has very little ambiance. I feel bad for the other patrons in the restaurant at the time. There are at least 6 other sushi restaurants within a stone's throw from this place so if you are in the area, I recommend any one of them over this place.

Seg'z Restaurant has moved to 503 Oakwood Avenue with its scrumptious menu in tow -- 647.224.3805! So don't let the decor fool you -- the food is well priced and delicious, good portions, friendly staff with a wide menu selection of healthy eats! Owner and chef Horace and his staff are very accommodating with dishes such as juicy jerk chicken sandwiches, pulled pork wraps, vegetarian dishes, soups, a wonderful choice of truly tasty burgers that have a good chance of being a huge hit not only in the local neighbourhood but in the town and overall GTA. However though, you have to check it out for yourself: For the proof is in thyself tasting the pudding... See ya'll @ Seg'z soon...

Literally the worst place ive ever been to. Food is gross over priced and greasy. Place smells like cigarettes because they let people smoke in the rooms. Its so hot in the rooms theres no aor circulation ita ridiculious. The servers are rude. Bathrooms are a disgusting mess. They let in underaged kids without checking id. Your better off going somewhere like bar+ or just stay home this place is not worth your hard earned cash.

I stepped in becasue I saw this was a new establishment in the area and I welcome any new food place with open arms becasue NOTHING is really new around here.. Atmosphere - decent. Staff - friendly. But I could care less if the food isnt on point. If I am paying over 9 bucks for a VEGETARIAN breakfast wrap, with ingredients like 'Gouda'... 'Asparagus' ...etc I expected nothing less than to fall in love, tell all of my colleagues and rave about this place until I convinced everybody to go there for lunch tomorrow. Sadly, it will be the opposite. In their defense, I did not try anything else so its not really fair to blacklist them for just this. The potato in the wrap has got to go!

Too soon to say for sure...but could easily become my go to spot!

Keep in mind that they are just starting up....so changes and improvements are a weekly...or daily thing.....but changes I have seen have all been in the right direction and welcome. Rare indeed that owners are so open to hearing...and acting on customer feedback.

Food is always good.

Great Home Cook Meals

We have been eating at Student Eatery for almost 7 years and the food is great. It is the kind of food European mothers make and it’s healthy for you. As for the comment Vicki made about the food being uncooked we work at 55 and never had any problem with the food being uncooked. This seems that these kids having nothing better to do but write up false reviews. They should just stick to eating at fast food chains if they do not enjoy healthy food. We will continue to eat at this place till I will be relocating to another division.

Pizzeria Libretto221 Ossington Avenue, Toronto
Traditional Neapolitan Pizza? Check
By gellerso8 of Toronto (9 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, November 30, 2014 - 12:58am [Dine in]

Compared to the one in Danforth location and this one, I'll stay with this one. Everytime I come here though I have to wait in line for a long time, but the pizza here is worth it. If you want traditional Neapolitan pizza that is. Fun fact, Pizzeria Libretto is one of the few Italian or pizza places that is certified by the VPN! Which means that the pizza is actually made in the right style like it is done back home, with the wood oven and all.

I love the sights and smells of this place, the only problem I have is that sometimes my pizza comes burnt on the sides and stuff. Pizzas are large and cost about $15 in general. I always get the Margherita, which is simply great. There are other things to order as well, like salads and pastas. The meatballs is a safe dish for me that never comes out bad. Staff is also super nice and helpful, never seen one act bad or accidentally "forget" to check up on you.

Manic Coffee426 College Street, Toronto
Superior indeed!
By gellerso8 of Toronto (9 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, November 30, 2014 - 12:40am [Take-out]

With so many interesting coffee shops in Toronto, it is hard to stand out. Manic for me does, because of the superior quality of its coffee. And I don't mean "superior" by just saying it, they actually use Intelligentsia coffee.

I love coming here to hang out by myself. I love the feel of the coffee in a cup, it is very homey and I especially love the art that comes in the lattes and cappucinos. The shop is kind of small and it can get busy, so getting a spot is highly coveted! There are not many options on the menu, but a couple of coffee options and some pastries (cookies, croissants etc). Also for sale is gelato, which I have never tried myself but seems to be good.

Hailed as the best rotis in town, this is a must-visit for anyone new to the city. Still pretty good food wise, but Mother India beats it.The malai kofta roti is simply delectable, but my personal favourite is the butter chicken roti. Not the best of locations, the store is a little crammed and one can find themselves usually with no place to eat, so I just prefer to take to go or opt for take-out. Prices are alright, some people complain it is too high but the portions are pretty large. You can eat them in two seatings.

Note: dont take credit cards!

Looking for cheap, good sandwiches? Bahn mi is the place to go whenever im looking for a good sandwich for lunch, and is good to fill you up and not leave you hungry afterwards. The kimchi fries are quite addicting if you ask, and for sandwiches I like the five spice pork belly. Prices are alright and the service is quick, I'm usually in and out in a jiffy. An all-rounder good place for me.

The Rivoli is one of those cool places in town where everybody wants to hang out, but nobody knows why. I guess I can answer my own question. It is all about the feel of the place and the atmosphere. The proposal of the place is really cool: lounge, bar, patio, pool tables and live music. The food is not that good, below average for a bar but everything else makes up for it. The only thing I have ever liked from here is the malay chicken w/ peanut sauce & jasmine rice. It is nice to come here with friends and relax listening to the local live band playing that nite or play some pool.

Purchased two chicken sandwiches, all the lettuce in them were rotten, no mayo either, the burger was dry and tasteless. This is not the first time, I purchased veggie burgers from this location, and they just don't know how to make a simple burger. These guys need to step up there game, cause this location sucks.

I first tried King Catering at Caribana, and then at their pop-up taster in Toronto. Their Jerk Chicken is amazing, as are the Shark Tacos. I highly recommend King Catering as the best caterer in Toronto! They offer event catering, corporate catering, personal chef services, and more. King Catering specializes in Caribbean cuisine with a North American twist. They are the best West Indian caterer in Toronto.

The happened to open when I was on my vacation and I spent almost every day in there for an Artigiano Cappuccino! Delicious! Pastries, salads and sandwiches made in house are all so delicious.
Can't wait for more to open up!

FRESHLY SERVED UNLIMITED DOSA's

I eat Masala Dosa here regularly. I was surprised Dosa Darbar started UNLIMITED DOSA's for which I was waiting for a while. As a customer I have been requesting this for a long time and went crazy with this deal. Freshly made and served unlimited Dosa's right off the pan. It was served with unlimited coconut chutney, tomato chutney, corriander chutney and sambar. I was being asked frequently if I needed another dosa and was served on time. I enjoyed and was full. Service and food was super. This is a real deal and should try!!!!

(I don't know what happened to my other review, so here I am posting it again...but ill try to keep it short this time lol). coming here to eat pho was a good choice. Not your typical setting for a pho place, as i found myself in a dark lit room among tvs, which gave the place a different feel. I was a bit confused at first, thinking to myself whether i had come to the right place. I trusted my friends, so I decided to stay. The fact that the waitresses spoke in proper english also struck me! a good sign though.

We had to wait for over 30 minutes to get attended, but when i finally got a hold of the menu, there were so many options to choose from that I just decided to go for something simple, spring rolls, vermicelli, rare beef pho. All hit right on the spot! The only thing I would like to add is that for the payment, they dont take credit, only cash.

Rude Staff
By SimpleMan of Toronto (1 Review)

I went to Done Right Inn for the first time last night for one pint at last call. I began a friendly chat with a nice girl at the bar only to have the bartender suddenly flip out and shout at me to leave the bar. He came around the bar wielding a baseball bat, threatening violence. He would not tell me what I did wrong until until I left the premises, but it turned out that he booted me for speaking to his girlfriend (the girl I spoke with). I was only being friendly, and I must say that this was a terrible experience. My guess is that the bartender does a lot of cocaine. Don't go to this bar, unless you want to be treated like shit. Also, wear a helmet. At least the pint was good.

Extremely poor customer service
By WarrenWarren of Toronto (1 Review)
Submitted Thursday, September 18, 2014 - 2:39pm [Dine in]

WORST LUNCHEON AND DINING EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD
Poorest customer service ever experienced. You will do yourself and your friends and colleagues a favor by eating somewhere else.other than this place. Let me explain: I was one of their most regular customers this year. I have given them over $2,000. worth of business this year. The are staffed by young people who don't give a damn about making money for the owner.
I walked in with a business colleague for lunch and proceeded to a table than could sit four. The waitress called Chelsea immediately came over and said we could not sit there since it was a table for four and we were only two persons. I explain to her that the tables for two were snack in the middle of other tables nearby and there was no privacy. And we wanted to be private with business matters to talk over.
She insisted we could not sit at that table and even her manger, a kid from France piped up and said it was for four and we could not sit there.
So we obediently took a table for two and agreed to discuss our business matters another day.
Within minutes, and I have to repeat, within minutes, they gave the table we wanted to 2 guys who just had coffee and their bill probably amounted to $12.00. Our bill came to $62.00. So they sat two people there and refused to sit us there. Yet we were regular customers and I have never seen them before.
So, the lesson in all of this is: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, STUPIDITY IN CUSTOMER SERVICE and LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I will NEVER go back. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants from which to choose in the neighborhood. The customer service in this place SUCKS to say the least. They don't deserve to be in business.

Thai Restaurant2480 East Eglinton Avenue, Toronto
Bad food, Disgusting service
By Viji Vadivelu of Toronto ON, Canada (1 Review)
Submitted Sunday, September 7, 2014 - 5:03pm [Take-out]

On Saturday, September 6, 2014 approximately 5:35pm, I went to buy dinner for my family at Thai Restaurant located at 2480 Eglinton Avenue East, Scarborough. I ordered "Poddu Koththu" & "Fish bun" from service staff named Thusha for the price of $6.75. I was informed no receipt and only cash available at the time of my purchase. I accepted the food packed in white take out container and returned home.

Upon arrival, I unpacked the food at the dinning table and placed on plates while still hot. As I was about to eat, I felt a stink smell from the food as it was gone badly. Then my hubby came, inspected the food and felt the same way. With suspicion in mind, I contacted the store for further information in regards to the meal. Thusha, who attended the phone, did not fully pay attention to what I had to say and simply said "The food is fresh and we did not receive any complaints so far, we don't know", then she immediately hung up the phone.

After disappointment, I re-packed the food and went the store. Thusha accepted the food and contacted cooking staff. A few minutes after, a male who appeared to be the owner of the store came to the front of the store. He first looked at me very disrespectfully and took the food to the kitchen area of the store. Moments later, he agitatedly came back to the front with the food in hand and said "Food is great, what is your problem?" Before I say a single word, he called Thusha and other guests and made them eat in front of me. The whole time he stared, intimidated and humiliated me in front of everyone at the store.

Terribly disappointed. Avoid if you can or check the food before you take home. You never want to know how I felt that day.

I have had dosas in the past at Indian restaurants but i usually don't go for it. I wanted to remember the taste so I came here. The place is quite clean but small but I was really focused on the food.

I had the masala dosa which comes with potatoes inside and it was amazing! The dosas come with a series of sauces or spices you can add and i liked it most with the coconut chutney more than anything (most people were eating it with sambhar? but i didnt like it as much). I think i am going to go for more dosas in the future! There were so many to chose from that its crazy.
