What a great place. I must say, I am glad that I listened to a friend of mine and I came with him at D.W. What I like most about this place is their cocktails. They are amazing. I never drank anything like it before. I truly recommend this place to all my friends who love cocktails.

Bing's Wok976A Pape Avenue, Toronto
Wretched food

We actually took the time to go online and read any and all reviews that were out there before ordering from Bing's Wok. We were long time patrons of Red Rose but they closed unexpectedly so were looking for another place. There were such positive reviews on different sites so I feel obligated to post this review for anyone who, like ourselves, wanted to try it based on the reviews. We ordered 2 egg rolls (cold and greasy), wonton soup (wontons were very nice, no slices of pork, not even lukewarm), chicken fried rice (greasy), sweet and sour chicken balls (dark brown - overcooked and the s&s sauce was this thin unappealing and horrible sauce), hunan beef (the sauce was a reasonably nice taste, but it was again, this greasy mess and I was mortified to find the vegetables overcooked and slimy), Cantonese style chow mein (at least had some crisp broccoli, had pieces of pork in it that one half of was entirely fat, the noodles were cooked to the point of being crispy and stuck together, hubby's favourite dish so he was really upset about that), sao mai and har gow (meant to be steamed, but somehow again seemed greasy, I don't know how that was managed - sao mai was incredibly fatty) and here is the worst of it, we ordered breaded shrimp. What we got was shocking. It was the little shrimp you would find in a $4.99 shrimp ring on sale, dipped in some kind of batter and deep fried. It was horrendous. Dripping in grease, inedible. Had the nerve to charge $9.99 for it. In total we spent $61.10 for this mess including a 10% reduction for picking it up ourselves (they told us to come in 30 minutes, we came in 20 to make sure it would be warm). So, we paid through the nose for an overcooked, greasy, slimy mess - the majority of which is now in my food waste bin. If anyone knows of a good Chinese food place in East York, please let me know. This is not it!

A friend of mine told me about D.W. He said that is a great place, it has some great cocktails and you will have a good time there. So, I went to see with my own eyes. I must say that he was totally right about everything. Now, I come every week at D.W. I truly recommend this place.

I should known as soon as we stepped into the location that we should have gone elsewhere. We waited forever to be seated. Keep in mind that there were tables available and we were the only ones waiting. Waitresses kept passing by us and not once acknowledged us. Not even to say someone will be with you in a moment. At one point I was fed up and stopped a waitress and asked how long until we get seated and all she said was "I don't know". They really need a lesson in customer service.

We finally get seated at a dirty table. We had to ask her to clean the table. Food at other tables were getting served. We waited 45 minutes before our food came. Waitresses here need an attitude adjustment. They don't care about customers. Also need to learn a little bit about communication. They brought my mom's food out and it was missing toast. Said nothing just walked away. My mom calls her and asks her about the toast and in a rude manner says to her it's coming.

Tables in front on us had no ketchup and had to borrow ours. Food was gross. The potatoes were boiled and looked like mush. No amount of ketchup can make it taste better. Toast was burned. Couldn't be bothered to ask for it to redone. Coffee was bitter.

If you enjoy places like this where waitresses are filled with attitude and food is worse than a 10 year old could make, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, go to kotsy's, cora's even McDonald's . But I will never step foot here again.

Definitely coming back again to Bakery Garden. I was attracted by the delicious cooking smell while window shopping at Bayview Village on the long weekend and was amazed by the ambiance and the crowd there that I just had to eat something. Their crepes, omelet and quiche was amazing. The smoothies was to die for. Everything was homemade and fresh. The service was very fast even though there were many people. The place is so clean and inviting. The staff were so pleasant and courteous.

Great mid-work week treat on the patio
By gracefullikeagazelle of Toronto East (1 Review)
Submitted Thursday, August 20, 2015 - 3:42pm [Dine in]

It was a terribly hot day in Toronto (38C with humidex) and we felt like cooling off with a cold brew on a patio near my place. We nailed it with our choice of Sunrise Bar & Grill. The beer was refreshingly chilled although pricey for the area: Just over $13 total plus tip for a Keiths Red and a Heineken, both on tap.
However ordering the Special of the Day more than made up for what I thought was overpriced draft beer. My date ordered the Beer & Burger special which totaled a little more than $11. The burger was good and better yet it was a REAL beef patty, not one of those production-line perfectly-round and perfectly-flat flavourless jobs. I only had onion rings which were nothing to write home about; not a generous portion and the coating was crisp but bland. The presentation was bare-boned; just plates and utensils wrapped in a napkin. Baskets instead of plates would fit this eatery's style better.
Didn't much like the "music" being played on the patio (teenage dance pop) but inside it was more our style with classic rock in the background and soccer on the TV screens.. Nice long bar & selection of on tap beer, pub-style decor, friendly servers, so a very comfortable atmosphere inside and outside on the patio where we also enjoyed watching the rush hour traffic flow... roaring motorcyles, rumbling classic cars and slick convertibles were our dessert!
I give Sunrise Bar & Grill a 3.5 overall. There aren't enough nice, clean, safe patios in that area of East York (Toronto) so I think that accounts for inflated beer prices.
Definitely heading back before the heat wave wanes!

Patron got the tip of his ear bitten clean off by an individual he did not know. A woman was slapped across the face by a man. Heavy drug culture. Police is never called. Restaurant is run by two Asian ladies. They do not seem to know or understand what you are saying when there is a problem. No client appreciation. There is a bartender there who's manner of dress is un-hygenic. Everything....and I mean everything hanging out. Not a cute look when you are over-weight. if you are lucky, you may not be stabbed or beaten up. Consistently allow over-served clients to get into their vehicles.

This place was absolutely disgusting! The service was horrible! When the waitress dropped my food and picked it up with her hands and placed it back on my plate and served it to me, I was in shock. When I complained about it to the owner I was told that if I didn't like the service to go elsewhere. The funny part is they just renovated the place and it's still dirty and gross just as it was before. I think an inspection is required.

I would give this place a zero if I could, or even minus points. The worst food I have had in my entire life. I had a craving for green curry, so I picked some up at this place on my way home, I also got a couple of eggrolls and a mango salad....my god where do I even begin with the vileness of this "food?" The eggrolls were inedible, and I mean they smelled fucking RANK - a horrifically rancid scent that has never reached my nostrils before, I wish that words could even describe the horrid odor - needless to say that I was not going to put those vile things into my face hole. The mango salad - maybe my expectations were too high, given that it WAS the food court, but I certainly was not expecting fucking mango flopped on top of lettuce with no dressing whatsoever....it tasted like mango on lettuce, such a pointless dish, I wonder if anyone actually orders this regularly. Now we get to the green curry, I have had green curry quite a few times previously and it has always been quite delicious. In fact the last time I had green curry was from a food court place (not Lemongrass) and it was quite yummy, coconuty, and flavorful , not this time. The stuff I got from Lemongrass was sour, not even a hint of coconut flavor, the chicken looked like it was boiled and just plopped on top of the sauce. The rice...oh god the rice. The rice had the texture of drying glue, it was slimy and had the strangest mouth feel I've ever experienced. As someone who has worked in the food industry I understand that there are some bad days, but this really was the fucking absolute WORST food I have had in my entire 39 years of life, how this place even stays open is beyond my comprehension. I ended up just making a sandwich for dinner. The kicker? All of that cost me almost 20 bucks. UGH.

This is where I go to get my daily one hour commute started.

When I arrive I'm greeted by name, I pick up coffee or espresso, a very tasty breakfast sandwich, and occasionally my lunch there as well. Much of the food is made on site but some is excellently catered which helps to serve the vegetarians and vegans both.

This is also a great place to get TTC tokens since, unlike the machines at the station, you can pay with debit.

My first time to try pizza pizza at this location. Very bad service. Don't go there! I personally will not go there any more. The food was okay. The service was very bad! Because of the service, the value is poor in this location. Ambience was okay. No one take care of the washrooms. No soap or paper on the washroom. Customers need to wash their hands before having pizza. I have asked them to refill soda and paper, but they just ignore you. Quite rude.

We had an amazing time at Casa Manila . It was our first time there. We like to try new things and a friend recommend to try Kamayan. I had no idea what it was but was excited to find out. Your food comes served to you on a table covered with banana leafs and you get to eat with your hands. My kids sure loved to !! They were very busy but the staff still made sure we were taken care of. I suggest to try it !! It's so much fun and the food is amazing !

HAIR in RICE DISH
By ZM of Whitby Ontario (1 Review)

HAIR in RICE DISH
Being going to this place a few times - Was recently at the restaurant just about an hr. remaining before they were going to close.
Ordered the food with the family and then one of my family members noticed HAIR in the rice dish we ordered. They showed it to me to confirm that it was truly what they were seeing and I could see it too. This was just nasty and my family member decided to leave with couple of others because they found it really disgusting. I called the server and showed it to her who was standing just close by and she took it and showed it to the owners of the restaurant and all I got from them was - "Don't worry, we won't charge you for that dish". There was no apology either, I would have expected them to wave off the bill altogether, but didn't seem they cared much. Plus by the looks of it how they dealt with the matter, it seems that they know it’s an issue, because the server went back in to let the cooks know as well in their native language (Chinese).
I saw later that the kitchen was closed and the cooks were taking out the garbage through the restaurant, I know they were cooks because the place is small and you can see through the kitchen when the door is opening/closing. They were not wearing any hair nets and its possible they took it off, but all they had was a baseball cap on.
I was upset, but didn't say anything and decided to wrap up my dinner and pay and leave.
For sure I won't be coming back to this restaurant.
I don't think keeping up with hygiene is a big factor for this restaurant. Proper food handling training is essential for repeat customers.
There are other HAKKA places in and around that you can try your luck with.
AVOID THIS PLACE.
