I have ordered from here a handful of times over the years. The one thing i love is the iconic neon sign-a landmark in Surrey for sure.
This is typical Chinese fast food. Its average priced compared to other ones .The food is typical, and the delivery is okay. Its not bad food, its just like many others. Its predictable and if you are tired of cooking and like this style of food its alright.
I really wish they would ramp it up a few notches and create some better food but Whalley is a low income area for now and i don't think their heart is in it.
There are many new high rise apartments and more on the way so either the will improve, or somebody will one-up them and make some decent Chinese food.
There is a half decent Szechuan place near them( Ho Do) and is a much better place to dine in or take out from if you like it a little spicier.
I havent tried the Dim Sum but i hear its so-so.
I have been here in the past and its usually good pizza.I don't go for 3 for one kind of stuff-usually they just spread the ingredients between more crusts.I ordered the "everything" with extra sauce and cheese. This pizza was heavy and thick-layers of toppings.
I haven't tried any of the other things like chicken, pasta, etc... so I will just stick to saying the pizza is great.Downtown Vancouver has tons of good pizza places but in sewery (Surrey), it is very hard to find .There are very few decent pizza joints here-this is one of them
I have been here a few times. The place is unfortunately a little hidden but worth discovering. The neighborhood is a little rough but inside is very warm and cozy atmosphere. Is a small place but the people are very friendly.
I tried both the chicken and beef soft tacos-chicken was the better of the two.The menu is bigger than the website shows i think.Haven't yet done breakfast but it looks good!
The family is like the restaurant~ cute , warm, and tiny.Very nice people and did i mention authentic?
located in Guildford between Starbucks and Mirage night club... large portion donair chicken six dollars ( a foot long) not like some place half that size... and the bonus? THEY DELIVER!
I am going to make an order at least once a week..... many available plates all under ten dollars! going to try the lamb from the Ladies suggestion next..... or the greek kabob platter.... looks tasty!
I went to this place before and never submitted a review, i didnt want to think it was a one trick pony and quickly say how good it was. I went for a second time and it was amazing. Buying a burger was a little pricey, but you pay for qaulity, not to mention the beer specials are dirt cheap..i will go back and i will bring friends. Now i want another one.
Our usual Christmas Eve dinner was not able to be held this year, so we opted for The Keg. We arrived about 6 PM and were advised the wait would be 2 hours. Having learned long ago to wait rather than try and find alternate dining on busy nights, we stayed.
I noticed an empty booth in the bar and was told it was first come, first served, so we took it. Louder of course than the restaurant but assumed we were going to receive the same quality of service & food. Not tonight.
Drinks and appy's were ordered. When a table seated after us received their appys before us, I began to have a bad feeling, to be justified shortly when our main courses arrived. The two appy's had been missed. We requested one of the two, the baked shrimp, be brought & my daughter ordered her usual pecan crusted sirloin, medium rare. When it arrived it was still moving, on the far side of rare. So that went back which is always a pain when dining in a group.
To the Keg's credit, they usually take care of you if everything isn't to your satisfaction, usually by taking the steak off the bill. This time they took the appy & dessert off & knocked 10% off our entrees, which worked out to more than the steak price. More than fair but the damage was done.
On another note, I was advised this location is now accepting reservations again. This appears to be an on again off again policy. This is our favorite Keg location. Just an off night.
Tap is Surrey's answer to downtown Vancouver dining, without the commute.
Located in a strip mall in south Surrey, the location is actually quite intimate for dinner. What you are going to receive are good size portions, excellent quality & downtown Vancouver pricing. They do a good corporate lunch trade as well. Excellent wine list & an informed chef/owner.
On a recent visit, I enjoyed the steak. Cooked to perfection. They also do a nice lobster bisque, Salt Spring mussels and a very innovative version of a Caesar salad, using a whole Romaine heart.
A good choice if you are looking for a nice place for a special evening out.
I took a chance on some different ethnic food and it paid off well.
I couldn't believe how good the food was. There food is very addicting and I find myself and my wife craving for African food a lot ever since we've tried it. This is the only place I go for African food.
I have been going to this resturant for take out for years. The guy who now runs Tasty Bistro (which is beyond amazing) used to head this place up and since they left it has gone downhill quickly. I know my Indian food. My family loves it. We do Indian take out maybe once a week. The other night I ordered a Chicken Vindaloo... couple Naan, and a Chana Masala. I know for a fact that my Chicken Vindaloo was from either lunch or the day before. It was a thick texture and the sauce had literally dried out. Not sure what else to describe it as. It looked as though it had been just heated up. It was more salty than any time I have had this there and honestly they make a gorgeous vindaloo normally. I know what it is supposed to look like... I have it there often. This was just a bad choice on behalf of the restaurant. It clearly was not fresh. It just looked like it needed water. The naan as well often is not fresh. It seems its cooked in batches. Its usually on the dry side. Sad thing is you go to Tasty Bistro and the naan is like a pillow... so fresh and soft... here it is like a pita really. Nothing soft about it at all. I hope they get the hint.... QUALITY.... you are going to go out of business if you continue like this. And a tip... when you walk in you see this large fish tank... that doesnt get cleaned. When you have fish in a business... upkeep them. Pay someone to come clean your tank. The fish do not look happy at all and neither was I with this pick up. Sadly I wont be back. Lost all trust in food quality.
I stopped here for a quick beer and a bite last week, I cant believe something this ghetto is still around. Walking into this place reminds me of the movies where an outsider walks into a bar on the wrong side of the tracks. Everyone stopped taking to stare at me as i walked in...seemed very strange but i sat down at a table and waited for a waitress to come by...i know they all noticed me walk in, yet the 3 waitresses were just talking to the regulars instead of helping me. Went up to the bar and ordered a bottle of beer, and i figured a burger cant be that hard to mess up....i was so wrong. Not to get too much more into it but I am pretty sure ive lost weight after eating there.I wont go back.
I have been eating at Mahek for a number of years at the original location and at the new location in Panorama. I am forced to write a review based on my excellent experiences I've had here and also the somewhat biased negative reviews I've read on this place. I have always had a great experience at Mahek and this restaurant has been winning the No1 accolade since 2006 in the reader choice reviews and that should say something. Why do people which I presume to be rival operators stoop to this level I don't know. Whilst I agree with some of the comments that I have experienced they are very rare. The great food and mostly excellent service makes up for it. My recent experience was part of a group in the private room and all the staff were excellent as was the food. I recommend this place heartily!!!! Try for yourself then be the judge,
Two for a dollar veggie samosas and fast service does it for me. The samosas are more of a mashed type if you know what i'm talking about. They also sell sweets here, which I've tried some of... They are across the street from the shopper drug mart at 152st and fraser highway. Dinehere makes you write at least fifty words so I'm doing that.
I have tried various different Pizza shops in Surrey (and elsewhere), but I keep going back to this place.
The pizza's aren't the cheapest but the quality of the product speaks for itself. They don't sting on the toppings either.
I would highly recommend the cashew pizza, even though it's a little on the fatty side, but come on you're eating pizza, what's a few more calories.
This is a definite must try for vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
Definitely not planning to go for more than a year for the horrible experience my friends and I had the last time, almost every single person at the buffet was dissapointed.
They were out of naan bread (which they usually are, but replace it every 20 mins or slow-which is pretty slow), but the last time every one in the resteraunt waited for over 40 mins, and most of the customers never got any.
I have tried the buffet over 10-12 times in the past 2 years, and half of which was pretty decent to good, and other half was dissapointing. That is most honest opinion you can have on the whole experience at this resteraunt.
I was surprised to read the unpleasant reviews above, i have been there several times for lunch and dinner, and have never been dissapointed. the prices are way better than any other dosa place in the lowe main land, and the taste is very authentic.
I have been there atleast 20 times in the past 3 years.
Better half was out of town and I always wanted to try Afghan food, so I venture to this restaurant bymyself. I had to look for the host to be seated as there was none to greet me when I entered. I ordered the lamb and beef kababs. Both dishes came with salad and naan. Both meats (beef and lamb) were prepared exactly the same way, spicy and hot. The meat was decent but the salad was nothing special. The salad reminds me of the bag salad you get at a grocery store. The naan was nothing special. The price for the lamb kabab was $15.95 while the beef kabab was $14,95. Fortunately I had the entertainment coupon as if I had to pay full price I would be unsatisfied as the whole experience for Afghan food was just plain ok. The service was slow, the waitress did not come by to refill my water while I was there. From this barely satisfactory experience, I would not rush back anytime soon.
Took family there, total of five of us including my elderly parents.
We ordered the lamb seikh kabob, eggplant bharta, tandoori chicken and butter chicken.
The eggplant was minced and mixed, the best eggplan bharta I have ever had, was excellent. The tandoori chicken was not dry like it usually is, and it was very tasty. As was the lamb seikh kabob. And service was excellent, the restaurant was clean and tidy.
Overall - excellent tasty indian food, will be going back soon.
This is cleaner place with better taste in food the the owner Edward lied to all his customers about closing the place down which in fact he sold the place to the chef in mid sept and continued telling customers that he is closing the place down and moving to Langley..to me Edward sounds like a bad business men when he really sold the place..Shame On You Edward....
I am a regular customer at Jerusalem Grill for the past two years, and I have not had one bad experience yet,and I believe I never will.
My wife and I and both of our children can't imagine our weekend without visiting this restaurant and the sweetest owner Ash,the food is well priced, always fresh meats, salads, sauces, and the best thing is that the owner promises not to use any preservatives, and all of the food items are made from scratch with extra love and care as he says lol
I have reviewed the only two reviews on this website, and I highly disagree with that customer for the following reasons
1)the 10 pcs of fried chicken was for $12.99 as a special price for the first year, and the menue has been changed since then and offers different prices and more items.check menue at WWW.JERUSALEM-GRILL.CA
2)the platter for $14.99 with the three assorted skewers is no #14 on the menue and it includes 1 skewer of chicken,1beef,1 lamb, either rice or homemade fries, two fresh hand cut salads, hummus and garlic dips,1 pita bread, one can of soft drink..all for $15 dollars ,how does that work out to be $5/skewer!!!!!!
If you have not visited J.Grill you have been missing out on this unique restaurant.
Go J.Grill go
I've been here about six times in the last couple of months. It's now under NEW MANAGEMENT and the new owner is working extremely hard to make this a "happening" place.
Friendly staff and good pub style food. Cheap beer, too. It will probably take a bit of work and time to get the place turned around, but give it a try. LIVE entertainment on weekends. If you arrive before 6 p.m. try one of the Appys -- 3 mini burgers is a great deal!
