Service was good but the food fell short. The bread was good. Next time we're going to either Piazza Dario on Grandview where you get twice the ambiance and outstanding food for an additional 20% or DaMario on Hastings for incredible food and value. We wanted to try out something new in the Surrey area but this just wasn't a hit unfortunately. We're getting very picky about food lately so not everyone may agree with this review. Try at your own risk and you may like it, we weren't offended by it but we're not going back either.

Very Disappointing

Great location on the beach. We were a group of 4 who chose my suggestion for dinner. The dinner was of very poor quality and flavourless, not freshly prepared. The rice, potato and salad were bland, no roasted vegetables, peas, and the meat was dry and overcooked. It was Sunday Easter Dinner and the restaurant was not busy. The experience was extremely disappointing and I was embarrassed for the suggestion. Will not return again.

Disappointing Easter Brunch

Firstly, being a large group you are moved from the ambiance of the dining room to the large banquet room in which the atmosphere is entirely different. Cold and certainly not as festive but.... doable once our group was moved to a larger table because I apparently made the reservation for the wrong amount of people.

The food select was very small in variety and was displayed as if it was the leftover part of the other side or maybe that was just because our reservation was at 11am and they opened at 10

Guess not enough staff to monitor the décor to ensure everything was filled.
One person to serve the egg station, waffle and carving table.....

Then there was the entrée(s) in which again the presentation was without labels so you had to open and close each one....which may or may not have contributed to the chicken being dried out and bland even though it was in a sauce.
Roast Beef tough and you were obligated to accept the slice offered even if you requested a different one.
Ham also dry and very disappointing .....all for the price of $30

Alternative choice was Newlands where everyone had been many times before and we thought for 3 generations gathering for the first time in years, let's go somewhere a little more elegant and maybe a different selection in food.....wrong!!! they have far more selection, presentation and atmosphere even in the banquet room...Sorry...should have gone with the gut!

Late night Pho after work

Submitted Saturday, April 19, 2014 - 11:44pm [Dine in]

Went here with a group of co-workers after work around 1045pm. I ordered the large pho with the beef brisket, well done beef flank, tripe and tendons. My buddies ordered the tamer well done beef flanks or the salad rolls and one of my friends ordered the vegetable pho. My pho was decent, The phos all came hot and fresh and from what my friends said, the salad rolls were delicious. I usually find the broth on the saltier side, but I was not complaining as I expect that. The service was very good. Not only did they attend to our needs ie. hot sauce, refills on water and tea, the waitress managed to separate our bills. It is nice that they stayed open late and served food as not too many places do at that time of night. I would revisit there again.

Should have trusted my sixth sense and left

Went here with the family for a quick dinner. Wanted to use a coupon to justified buying the coupon book. Never been to a Taco Del Mar before and plan to never return. My better half and I ordered the beef and chicken buritoes. For the kids we ordered the kids meal which was casadas (cheese) and fries with a drink. The food all tasted the same....BAD. No taste and overly greasy. If we did not have the coupon (2 for 1) then I would be really upset with the overpriced crappy meal. Taco Time or Taco Bell is far better than this place. I was so disappointed that I paid what I did for this subpar meal, that I could barely swallow the crap they called Mexican food. I guess that is what you get for a franchise restaurant that has owners that is definitely only there to make money as a franchise restaurant owner and know nothing about Mexican cuisines. Will rather eat a microwaveable Mexican burito from 7-11 than eat here again. At least 7-11 would be cheaper.

We discovered this place through word of mouth and the owner use to sell samosas from her residence. She finally opened up a tiny shop just behind the Crown Palace Banquet hall near Nordel way. These vegetarian samosas are divine. These are crispy, filled with potato, peas, coriander and heavenly spices. The crust is not thick and the owner cooks them on the spot. We noticed she has a strong clientele and often we see the same people coming back for more. We're hooked and have become addicts! Awesome with ketchup and she also sells her own chutney. We haven't tried other stuff off the menu.

My wife and I have enjoyed the Vault the last four times we dined there. This time we brought friends and am said to say were embarrassed to have them spend their money there. Food was still good but the service was terrible.

Pushy, rushing and interruptive. Who can enjoy friends and dinner like this???

We felt like we sat down and were being rushed to get out the door. Constant interruptions from our waitress. She wanted entry orders before we even opened the menu! I'd mention her name but of course no name tag or introduction. Sad since we previously enjoyed it there. Next time we'll find a more welcoming place.

I have been going to this place for several years now. Their made to order sandwiches and daily soups are great! They've kept me coming back for years. Their cakes are out of this world! So delicious and great variety, and none of them are sickly sweet like grocery store cakes. You must try their Italian cheesecake. It's nothing like your typically dense NY cheesecake. This is rich without being dense and heavy and the flavour cannot be beat! The one thing I'm not crazy about is their cookies though. I love a soft and chewy cookie and personally find theirs are too crispy and dry. Their muffins are also solid and gigantic in size! Skip on the cookies if you prefer soft and chewy and you won't be disappointed with anything you order!

Average food
-in taste/size/portion

Poor Service
-brought me tea when I asked for water and hot sauce as soon as I was seated
-had to ask multiple times when i didn't get the hot sauce I asked for and water refills were slow/neglected

Premium pricing
-not worth it
-they even charged $2 for 2 glasses of water (without any signage or cost listed on the menu)

Peeved I was charged for water but even more peeved that I don't seem to see anyone else complaining about it. Would not recommend and would not go back.

I have eaten at this restaurant on numerous occasions. We dine there especially when the buffet is open as everyone in my family has slightly different tastes in Indian food. We consider it a good value for the price we've previously been charged for the kid's buffet. 3 kids and I usually dine there for about $25 (including tip).

At this particular time, I came with 3 of my kids - age 6, 8, 9. We only ordered 2 naans between the four of us and the kids had very little portions. The butter chicken had very little meat in it and the goat curry had small pieces of meat with a lot of bones. There was no fruit this time. On the positive side, the fish pakora was very fresh tasting and the naans were soft and baked perfectly (there have been times we've been served hard and crunchy naans).

When I went to pay the bill, the waitress asked me the ages of my children. I told her and she said that she'd have to charge my 9 year old for an adult's buffet and charged my two younger children the price of the kid's buffet. Total $48!! - for 3 kids and 1 adult. WTF?

She looked at my shocked expression and asked me what was wrong. I told her that I've never been charged so much before and that I've dined there on numerous occasions. I told her that I've never had to pay adult prices for my kids and that I don't even get charged for my younger 2 because they eat so little. She argued with me and said that I must've come at lunch instead of dinner. I insisted that it wasn't so, but she wouldn't budge and I gave up arguing and paid the bill.

I left feeling stupid and TOTALLY RIPPED OFF. I wouldn't have minded an explanation of "our prices have gone up", or "this is our new kid's buffet price", but she insisted I was wrong and I could tell my her expression that she was taking advantage of me.

I can't stand dishonest people. I am NEVER going back there again.

The service at this family run business is great. The food is amazing and reasonably priced too, as it is c of higher quality. I really enjoyed their cashew pizza -- which is definitely something creative and original. It is a sweet chilli sauce based pizza, with zucchinis, onions, fresh tomatoes, green peppers, roasted red peppers and cashews. Not only does this pizza appeal to the eye but it tastes just as great. I actually just ordered from them the other day and they've come a long way over the years. They have completely renovated the place and have expanded their variety of food choices. They've started serving Indian food as well. Their chaat papadi and Daal Makhani are something you should definitely try!

I had lunch here the other day with a co-worker. It was the 3rd time eating here. The quality of the food has gone down hill, extremely poor. The fried rice was dry, the chicken in kung pao chicken tasted off. Not fresh at all. It wasn't this bad in the past. I compare this place to mall food court chinese food. The mall stuff is better. Very disappointed, i don't think i would eat here again. I thought it was supposed to be fresh fast gourmet, not even close.

Very good burger joint in Surrey

Submitted Sunday, March 9, 2014 - 8:49am [Dine in]

Went here with a friend from the recommendations from other Dinehere foodies. I had the Double Bacon Cheese burger and my friend had the Tex burger. We shared a medium size fries and both had cola soda. The burger was good and the dressing you are able to order for your burger is great. I had grilled onions, japenos, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup and bar-b-q sauce. The burger itself was good , hot and fresh. It came out in a brown paper bag with the order sheet attached to it. The medium fries was huge. My friend and I ate some and I brought the rest home where I was able to feed the kids and then some. The price for my burger was $9.49 and I found the value was much better than places like Red Robin. The ambiance is nothing special but it fulfill its needs. If I ever have the craving and the appetite I might try the Burger challenge which is a 2lb burger with fries that has to be eaten within 30 mins. One day.

Went here with the family the other night. Have not venture to this restauant since 2009 and was curious to try it again. Was not sure what to order and spoke to the owner of the restaurant. He was very helpful and very accommadating. He suggested the chicken chow mein for the kids and the adults had the popular fried spicey fish, spicy beef and sweet and sour chicken. The noodle dish was ok as there was shredded chicken not chunks of chicken and lots of vegetables, so the value was not really there for the price. The sweet and sour chicken was pretty good. But the spicy fried fish and the spicy beef was excellent. The owner offered us half portions on the dishes so that we were able to try a bit of everything rather than committing to a larger portion that we might not like. The owner and the staff was very friendly and refilled our tea when needed. They seem to be very appreciative that we gave them a chance to dine there. One thing I would like to mention is that the restaurant can be very busy with take outs and dine in, we fortunately arrived just before the dinner rush. Was very impressed and would dine again in the near future. The prices are a little higher than most chinese restaurants, but overall the dining experience was delightful.

Went here for some take out and order the lamb curry, butter chicken, mali kofta &4 vegetable somasa. The food was hot, plentiful and tasty. Not the best indian food that I ever had but was comparable and had great value compare to going to a restaurant. The quantity was at least 30% more thatn any restaurant and the taste was very good. The lamb curry and the mai kofta was a bit spicey and all the sauces were very creamy just the way I like it. It only took 20 mins for them to prepare my order. They have a large selection and great lunch specials if youare so ever incline. Overall I was impressed about the value and the taste from this establishment. I would recommend and return in the near future.

My family went to Afghan Chopan a few times. When the restaurant started out we all got good helpings of food and the last two times we were disappointed with the quantity of food. So, they lost our business and we used to come from Pitt Meadows, not exactly just down the road. A little hard to find as it is in an industrial setting. Food is delicious but nobody wants to go home stuffed but they do not want to go home hungry either after dropping $40+ for supper out.

Keg Steakhouse & Bar, The7948 120th Road, Surrey
Great night out - except the Keg portion
By Julumkana of Coquitlam, B.C. (52 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, February 23, 2014 - 11:20am [Dine in]

A bunch of us went to the Keg to celebrate a friends B-Day. We called to make reservations but they said they dont take reservations after 5. This was the 152 nd surrey location. They told us if you get there around 5 you'll probbably get a seat. When we showed up at 5 , it was like a 4 hr wait for a table. Ok, it was busy because of this dine out vancouver thing that was going on. So they called the Scott rd location for us and we managed to get in there.
At the scott rd location we had to wait about an hour for table. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks and some appies to kill time. Calamari was goid, but a bit small portion.

When we got yo our table. We ordered food and the waitress seemed quite nice. As the evening progressed the service seemed to decline. The quality if service from our service provider was nil. Shouldnt we all be given water especially if we ask for it? The waitress seemed bothered about getting water for all of us. 6 adults at our table. When our steaks arrived 4 of 6 steaks were cold. They did take those off the bill in the end. My steak was ok. I ordered a sirloin oscar (a Keg favorite of mine) it was hot and tastey but lacking in bernaise sauce. My wife had pepper gravy steak, it was lacking in pepper.

The bar tender needs to learn hiw to make a good paralyzer.

Although my steak was good, speaking on behalf of my friends and the birthday girl It was nit a good night food-wise. Overall i hada great night because i was with friends, but the food portion was a total let-down. $40 for a steak? I expect top notch service at the Keg. I get better service at a fast food drive through.

I wonder if its just this Surrey location that is bad. Ive never experienced this at other locations, Vancouver, Burnaby.

I understand it was a busy night for them with the dine out Vancouver thing happening. In my book thats no excuse.

Im going to do alot more of making steak at home rather than go out to the Keg.
