wow! where do I start! I have gone back to this place more than 10 times already since they first opened in August and yes you can call me a "pho-natic" . Every single time I come here I have always left with a great sastisfaction. From the minute you walk in to the minute you walk out they really made you feel special and it is very rare to find such a Pho restaurant like this one that can treat you like you are one of their family member!..I love everything about this place. From the ambiance, decor to the food and espcially their bathrooms! OH man! I might sound crazy but I can literally sleep in there because they are just super clean and for some reason they also "smell" really good! Sorry to say but cleaniness is the first item on my eat out list and this place got it!
Hi there been here a few times. The service is excellent the people are so friendly and out going. I just wanted to let you guys know that you need to add more noodles and food in the large soup portions. I've been to many different Pho places all around Vancouver and they give you a lot for your money. You guys have great portions on the sandwiches but people come there for the Pho so I just suggest you guys upping up the portions a bit for a large bowl. I leave feeling not 100 percent full. Besides that little flaw you guys great!
I went here with my girlfriend. Wanted to treat her out for a nice meal. I ordered the Fajita's she ordered the spicy chicken and salmon shrimp appetizer's. Food arrived was nice to see it all. The Fajita honestly tasted like a mc wrap which is only 2 dollars at Mc Donalds. The chicken was horribly over cooked and terribly dry. I thought the kids in the kitchen go to school to cook these days? The spicy chicken tasted like a 12 year old Asian kid's idea of Asian food. The only thing good was the salmon and shrimp which was very nicely prepared and good tasting. I got the bill sure it's 62 dollars. I gave the waitress 100 dollars she gave me back four 5 dollar bills and a toonie. I was having a good conversation with my girlfriend and didn't realize she didn't give me the correct money back. I gave her on top of the money she stole 12 dollars. So she ended up with a 28 dollar TIP?!?!? I didn't realize it until today and I'm really upset about that. I will never again return to this restaurant. There are far better places out there to eat.
Upon ordering, my fiancee asked if she could have a little more veg. and a little less rice on her "veggie lovers" wrap. The managers response was "Depends how much... sure!" The younger staff member proceeded to give an extra few scoops of veg. when asked if he wouldn't mind giving one more scoop (about a rounded tablespoon), the manager piped up from the register "I think you've had enough!" so the scoop was foregone. We ate in silence, feeling a bit uncomfortable for ourselves, and the younger worker. Overall, the wraps are great, and we've always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, the manager can leave a less palatable taste in a customers mouth. After having a few run-ins like this, I think I'll head elsewhere.
I just got back from lunch. I had ordered the club house sandwich. How can anyone ruin a clubhouse? Well they did. My 6 month old frozen turkey tasted better than this by far. And the bacon that they used was tasteless. I couldn't believe it. For a $13.00 sandwich I expected a lot better. McDonald's tastes gourmet by comparison. They should be embarrassed. My Husband had the fish dinner and thought it was no hell but edible. Their fry's (chips) are the frozen type and were OK.
The service was pretty good. The girls there were quite nice.
Will I go back again? NO
Would I recommend ABC at 192 st and 56 ave (bypass) ? NO
Went here for a Sunday lunch with the family. We had to get our own highchairs from the side of the restaurant. The highchairs were stained and flithy but we had no other choice. The owner/waiter came to our table and tossed the utensils, dishes and hot sauce on the table. Clanking as it hit the glass table cover. We thought that this was strange and a bit rude but whatever I thought. Then we waited and waited for him to come over to take our order. It tool 10-12 mins and with kids that is a very long time. The better half was getting upset that the service was so subpar and wanted to leave, but I thought since we were here we should stay. Should have listen to the Mrs. We ordered our 3 dishes, beef brisket with noodle in soup, shanghai noodles and mixed meat with noodles in a spicy sauce. When the food arrived, I asked for some chilli oil, the owner/waiter took our hot sauce away and came back with the chilli oil. I thought that was rude, I said I wanted chilli oil, not to take the hot sauce away as my wife uses that hot sauce. Then he grabbed the fork from the kids and said that they might poke their eyes out. They were eating with it and that would be my judgement call to how I want to parent my child not his. That behaviour even pissed off the Mrs more. Now I was agreeing with her. Throughout the whole meal, he did not come over our table to refill our tea or water. I felt that families with young kids are not welcome. So when one of the kids spilled food off the table, normally I would be more concern and clean it up, not this time. Very disappointed in this restaurant. It used to be decent and close to home. But now I would go elsewhere for my chinese food. Also the food was not up to par. The food tasted better and had more ingredients the last time I visited. Would not return back to this place.
Went here with the family the other weekend. Sat in the booth at first, but soon realized that the little ones are better off in a high chair as one of them fell off the booth seat. Mentioned this to the young asian waitress and I could see she did not care and just rolled her eyes. So I went to a more competent waitress and she seated us at a table and provided us with some highchairs. We then ordered salad rolls, 2 noodles with soup and one fried noodles dishes. The salad roll , the 2 noodle dishes and the fried noodles came out promptly. Actually a little too fast as it seem they had it already for the lunch crowd. The soup broth was ok. Had much better elsewhere. The meal was just satisfactory. There was something about the meal that made me feel the food was very process/not home made. The ambiance was nice compare to what it was before (7-11). The parking can be crowded. But overall I would venture elsewhere as there are so many better vietnamese restaurant within the area than this one.
Simply flawless! I've never done any food review in my life but I am compelled to do so with this new Pho place. They have changed everything you think you've known about Pho. Just recently moved here from Orange County, California where Pho restaurants are a dime a dozen! and I've been to many many Pho restaurants in North America but have to say this is a very first Pho place with a very daring open kitchen concept. You can see their staff chopping veggies and making Pho infront of your eyes and everything is just so clean! Cant say enough about their ambiance and decor but one thing have kept me coming back for more is the service! (Steven) is so warm and sincere working in the front while his wife (Lynn) cooking in the back...Very family-oriented! and the foods are always consistent & amazingly fresh! Everybody is entitled to their opinions about this place so why dont you come and check it out for yourself....
Last night I got a chance to visit pakwan House Restaurant with a friend, and experience one of the best Mutton Karahi,Nihari and chicken Tikka. My this experience reminds my my old dine at Bundu Khan Lahore. So i highly recomend this restaurant.Their Food is tasty as well seems fresh to me its one of the best outdoor dinne i had outside.Their environment is normal and food prices were very good.
All About Pho opened early September new my office, and a few office folks decided to give it a try.
We walked in and were greeted promptly and given a booth. The restaurant is newly renovated. It's small, but cozy (used to be a 7-11).
3 of us ordered a few vermicelli beef soup bowls, and my wife ordered a dry vermicelli bowl with lemon grass pork.
The medium size soup bowl was standard size, but I found our usual Pho place nearby has more meat in it. The large size looked a bit better. Overall I found the soup base not up to the quality of other Pho places. It was a bit bland, and didn't taste like it was made from scratch.
My wife really liked her dry vermicelli bowl though, and said it was just as good as other Pho places.
Unlike some reviews on Urban Spoon, we were served in the usual fashion with glass tea cups and a glass tea pot.
Service wise, everyone was friendly and helpful, but it was a bit slower than other places nearby.
Price wise, it was pretty standard for the area.
Overall, we thought it was just OK, but nothing special. We'll likely be going back to our old Pho place in the future. I'm actually surprised they would open a Pho place in that location, given there's 2 others within walking distance.
Over the years I have frequent this place and even introduced quite a few colleague and friends to this little secret/hidden gem in Surrey. On many occasion, you would have to wait for a seat since they have only about 9-10 tables (if I recall correctly).
As my youngest brother that eats sushi all over the lower mainland said - it is NOT the best, but probably the best in Surrey, I have not been disappointed once since going to this place.
We have had numerous party trays ordered from here and never had anything but good compliments.
Sashimi is kept at just the right level of coldness to keep it firm. The spicey sauce they used on the rolls and other dishes is probably my favourite. Not overkill since I am not very good with chili sauce but enough to make your body warm up.
If you want very good sashimi and california rolls for your kids, this is the kids' favourite place for those rolls. Spicey tuna dishes are my favourite as well.
The area of Surrey Central is getting better but it still inhabits many trouble makers. This was the case when my husband and I went for a quiet dinner at the Surrey Central White Spot. Long story short, a man next to our table got mad that we were moving to a different table because his kids were screaming incessantly. We had no problems with it, we didn't say anything to them, we just were moving tables. He verbally assaulted both my husband and I with foul language, name calling as well as threatening violence, all while we stood back in shock and awe. Even his wife was horrified by his irrational outburst. The manager did nothing. He knows this patron threatened to harm us and allowed them to stay, and simply looked at us like, "What should I do about it?" Well I've worked in the restaurant industry and he should have asked him to leave. He should have called the police. Instead he let the belligerent person stay because it was easier to push us out the door, since we weren't at all enraged or out of control. So don't go to Surrey Central White Spot if you want a safe, respectful experience. We were threatened and that seemed perfectly fine with the manager, so long as he didn't have to do anything for the safety of his patrons. Very disappointed, we'll never go back. I guess in this day and age, the ones who threaten people are the ones who win their spot in an establishment.
Made a trip out to Surrey because of all the rave reviews of this place - most of the reviews seem pretty accurate. It's not the cleanest pho restaurant I've ever been to, but it's fine - a little sticky. It seems like it is always busy. I liked the staff, they're rushed but friendly and helpful.
The food is authentic, pho was good, iced coffee was excellent, but my favorite was the lemongrass chicken - really nice cuts of perfectly cooked chicken on fresh noodles and lots of veggies and herbs. Will definitely drop in again if I'm in the neighborhood.
Someone once told me that the best Pho is usually "holes in the wall" type of place and the customers should only be all "Pho-Asian" then you're guarantee a good bowl of PHo!.
So when my co-worker and I came in for lunch one day with the place fully packed with "non-asian" diners we were then a bit skeptical....
Regardless, we were still proceed with our lunch order. My friend had banh mi sandwich and I had beef brisket in spicy lemon grass beef broth aka "bun bo hue". Had to say the food came out so fast which we were thankful for as we only had 45 mins lunch break. I find the broth sweet with a good kick of spicy lemon grass flavor and noodles are soft just right... Service is outstanding..they were thanking us and addressing us by our names and checking on us eventho the resto was busy. Other reviewers had say enough of their ambiance and decor so I am not gonna go there. As for my friend's banh mi it looked huge on the plate but she said she didnt feel full. Perhaps they should pack more chicken in there next time and same goes for my soup. Other than that we are happy. I can safely say that I will come back again I only do so because of their service. They make it very warm and welcoming. They said that they try to remember all of their customers by names so I will see if they remember mine next time I come in...
I sampled some takeout from this place. I ordered the Captains Platter with Halibut. It was ok i guess, nothing spectacular. It was very greasy. I know it's deep fried, but it is possible to have non-greasy deep fried food if you do it right. Wasn't really impressed. The service was good. I would give it another try if i was driving by considering i work in this area. I thought it was kinda pricey considering the small portions you get.
We went on the weekend after quite a while to be honest, we live far from Surrey but since the road took us there it was no question where we would eat. Anastasia's!
I ordered my favorite seafood linguine and hubby had his usual Prime Rib! The pasta was amazing (got some for the next day also since it was so much!) and hubbies prime rib was excellent! He got soup with his meal so we had a french onion and a clam chowder to start, the french onion was a m a z i n g! Bold, with lots of cheese exactly how a french onion should be, and all that for 4.50$, it was cheap and great! The Clam Chowder was creamy with lots of clams in it, it was rich!
Hubbies prime rib was excellent, he asked for a bone and he got it, it was huge, and it was melting in the mouth! I had prime Rib in the KEG before and it was disappointment! This was unbelievable! I loved it! (Hubby wasn't very happy since i ate half of it ;) )
Over all I would say "Keep it up Anastasia's! "
Sometimes I read reviews for this restaurant and I thought that we would be disappointed, I'm glad that we went anyway!
Also they did some renos there, it looks not bad without the plants and pretty good now days :)
Great food, Great service!
Broken door handle on door made it difficult to enter Pub/Restaurant. Staff didn't seem to concerned!
Many selections on menu weren't available.
Bartender was very inexperienced in making drinks.
Appetizer I ordered was processed.
Food was so-so, nothing to get excited about!
Waitresses were polite and friendly, but not very efficient.
I came in all by myself today for the first time and decided to do take out instead of eating in. First impression was how mordern, beautiful and clean the restaurant is. Well I guess because it is brand new and the owners must have put a lot of thoughts into it!
When I walked in I know right away it is not a full - serve because of the two big menu boards they have on the wall and also a few customers were standing in line infront of me. For a Pho restaurant I have to say it is not something I have used to. So think of it as a high end fast food which serves Pho. Their menu is short and sweet but they do serve all the popular Vietnamese dishes. Definitely not mind-boggling menu with over 100 items like most Pho restaurants out there.
When it was my turn to order, the front staff asked for my name and also introduced herself which I find very cool because no other restaurants ever care who I am no matter how many times I come in to eat! My order for take out was one classic salad roll and two crispy pork springrolls as I was not in the mood for anything soupy. While waiting for my order I was offered with a glass of ice water. Instead of serving me water straight from the tap like a lot of other restaurants do, I was offered to use a filtered fountain water and right below it was a wooden bamboo bowl with some rocks and flowers...very tranquil and spa like!
While my order was being made, I chose to sit down to sip my water at a very long community table they have right in the middle of the dinning area...very cool! I was really impress with the whole ambiance of the place. Love the huge wall murals... "Nature call" so I have no choice but to use their restroom facility. For this part I would have to give this place 10 points!. They have automatic light, automatic soap dispenser and no more messy towel paper because they have automatic hand dryer. These "guys" are really going green letme tell ya. Well long story short, I came home enjoying my salad roll and crispy springrolls infront of TV. When I opened my take out order, a small hand written "thank you and enjoy with a smily face" on the take out box, this really melt my heart!. I respect that some people find this place a bit more expensive compare to other Pho restaurants but I see why they are because they do add other kind of values beside just foods. I do agree with "Kylia of Vancouver" when she wrote, "if you are only into cheap eats and dont care about other added values then yes this place is definitely not for you!" I love their salad rolls. Try it ! it has a little surprise inside the roll!
I hate to say it, but I'm not a fan of this restaurant. Sure, it's new and clean and pretty, but I'm not eating the decor.
The food was bland and overpriced. The salad rolls were yummy, but paying $10 for two of them is insane. The Pho didn't taste bad, it was just sort of dull and also small for what you pay. This is modern vietnamese....meaning they don't offer much in the way of authentic items. I guess I'm used to, and enjoy, the older style where you can get tripe and tendon in your soup and the broth is super tasty.
The owners/staff are very friendly and nice,so I hate to knock their restaurant. But this place is also mostly self-service. Meaning I had to ask for a water glass, and keep getting up to refill it throughout the meal. If you're trying to have a conversation with a dining partner is can be rather disruptive.
Overall, the food isn't bad it's just overpriced and lacking big flavours. That said I might give them another try later down the line and see if their food has changed at all. They are fairly new right now, maybe things will change.
Stopping in for a quick lunch I ordered a Tom yum and pad Thai. My small $10 bowl of soup arrived and tasted like tomatoe chicken soup. Having been to Thailand several times and eating my fare share of Thai food here at home, I have never tasted terrible soup like this. I informed the waitress that is wasn't good and I didn't want it. The manager arrived promptly telling me that that is just how they make it and I will have to pay for it!! She basically said "too bad, you ordered it, you pay for it". After threatening a nasty Internet review she finally conceded.
She then brought my pad Thai over and hovered over me like I was a 5 year old to see if I liked it. It was also bland and terribly unauthentic.
I will never eat here again. Not only is the food not good and the manager seriously lacking some customer service skills, but is it greatly over priced.
