We used to really enjoy eating here, and the $4 deserts are still great, and the calamari is really good too.
The prime rib specials were awesome, but they don't seem to have those anymore.
The great thing is the horse racing ambiance, getting to either place bets or just watch the races and guess who was going to win over coffee and cheescake. Ahh, the Pimlico Cheesecake. If anything, come to the Derby for that and a coffee to go with it.
And the Santa Anita pizza is always a filling meal. My husband loves it and always keeps some slices for leftovers.
The last time we visited, the caesar salads tasted like they had bleach in them and even when they remade them, the bleach taste was still there. I suspect they didn't actually remake the salads, and just shuffled the lettuce around.
Might give the salad another chance someday.
For now, it's desert, calamari and pizza.
King tuts Donair is the best place ever there Hugh lots to pick from rice plates r too die for owner and stuff are great keep up the good work if u want the best Donair go to kingtutsdonair been to lots of places all over I live in white rock I drive all the way there now there open a shop in white rock can't wait coming to white rock rock on
We ate here last night, and I have to say they have the best Thai foor in the lower mainland.
Rumour has it that the owner/chef is from The Thai House chain. We found this to be better than Thai house and others around.
We asked other patrons what they thought and all agreed it was excellent. Thank God I have a decent Thai restaurant to go to.
Have been ordering from here for years with little to no problems with the end product. Had one or two pizza's I wasn't pleased with when I got them home but they were definitely eatable with no bad taste or residual effect. We mentioned our disappointment on a return trip and were treated with utmost respect and had the next pizza cost reduced in price. Have found the counter staff and management most helpful, informative and courteous.
Only teenagers could possible like this. And that is until someone tells them it's not good, terrible and it is expensive. Then they too won't like it. Really over priced, really normal to below average. Low end patrons meet high-end burger prices! Will not be returning. At least better than all the Chinese food that is popping up everywhere. Can't stomach seeing another sushi restaurant.
I have been in to this little place a few times, and every time is always a nice experience.
Not matter what meal you go for you always get a mountain of food for you buck. I can never seem to finish a plate (not without a lack of trying). Even when I take home food its delicious later.
Chicken Gyro YUMYUMYUM!
The staff are great! They don't try to push you into getting more but are still helpful, or helicopter around your table watching you eat but they still know to refill your drink. Even when it was busy our server found time to chit-chat with us and actually remembered us from before. Last time I went with a group of friends and near the end of our meal while we were just drinking our bottle of wine the owner even made time say see how things were going. He even bought our table some dessert. The baklava is sooo good. I even went in to buy two bottles of their house dressing which I'm going to serve with our Christmas dinner.
Most definitely a place to go, at least try it's really worth it.
I brought my family here for breakfast and almost had a heart attack when the waitress almost dropped a bunch of plates on my infant son's head. Accidents can happen but when she came back to take our money with a hot coffee pot and didn't realize that it was tipping over his head I was less sympathetic. Oh well, I guess all the "excitement" made me forget that she also got our order wrong and that the food was lukewarm at best.
Having Christmas brunch at Hazelmere has been a family tradition for years. They always have the same Santa and Mrs. Claus which is kind of cool because we get pictures with our kids every year. We just went last Sunday and once again they didn't disappoint. They offer pretty much everything type of breakfast and lunch item you can think of and the dessert selection is pretty good. The waitresses are nice and very attentive. I think our only complaint is that our kids always want to start with the chocolate fountain wich can be an all out battle. One thing to consider is their Christmas brunch is more expensive than their regular one but it seems worth it. We'll definitely be back
Four of us dined here for the first time and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We shared four plates and we all loved every dish. Its a small but nice place with nice decor. We all agreed we would all want to come back again I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Seriously.... dont waste your time, money or effort....
We went last night for dinner, it was my guys birthday and Rockwell's has always been a tradition.. the one in Coquitlam has always been amazing to us. We were in Cloverdale and decided to try this one... BIG mistake.
We arrived and I noticed a strong smell of Curry coming from the kitchen, no big deal but its a steak house, not a curry shack. My guy hates curry so this was a concern. We noticed it was very cold inside, and as such we moved to a table close to the fire... much better.
As is the tradition, we looked for Prime Rib, his usual order. Nothing. Not on the menu. So we decided on the New York Steak. Sounded so good. We even upped the order and asked for sauteed mushrooms.... OH BOY!!
Steak dinner comes. I ordered mine well, not over well and not charcoal. Didnt want to complain, it was his birthday. He ordered his medium well, not raw, not blue, but cooked. His was the most undercooked steak I ve ever seen. He decided to eat it anyway, but got to the middle and the steak ended there. It was just too raw.
The mushrooms I decided to include: burnt to a crisp. When we complained, the waitress told me they were roasted. Now come on, it said sauteed, not roasted and there was absolutely no moisture in the mushrooms, they were straw like. I might not be a gourmet cook at home, but I know a burnt mushroom when I see it...I commented on the mushrooms to the waitress. She argued with me.
Seriously, she saw they were inedible, we left them on the plates. So instead of comping the mushroom fee, she argued with me and left it on the bill...... I know working in the service industry is not easy, and the customer is not always reasonable or right but seriously? Can you not see the burnt mushrooms we left on the plate..I paid the bill, over $64 for nothing, and left. NEVER EVER AGAIN.
I m trying to find the Rockwell's head office to let them know this location is completely unworthy of the name. SERIOUSLY: IF YOU WANT ROCKWELL'S GO TO COQUITLAM AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
Came tonight. Total dissapointment, two chicken dishes were completely old, dried out chicken. The kind that you put in the fridge and hope to heat up a few days later and still be good but it isn't! Don't come here to risk getting sick.
We let the server know she walked away!
So we left $70 for our $68 bill and won't ever be back... Especially reciving that service!
Tried mahek almost a year ago, and have been several times. Tonight was the last!!! And will never go back. I give them the fact that they are pretty clean and tidy for an Indian cuisine... Since usually they lack in ambiance, but this place has an nice interior.
Now what goes on in the kitchen is a complete different story and is quite concerning. My boyfriend and I ordered quite abit, garlic naan, rice, chicken tandoori, shahi paneer, mahek wings and butter chicken. The butter chicken and garlic naan were good, but with butter chicken you can't go so wrong! The paneer was flavorless and the chicken tandoor and wings were unbeatable. They seem to be in recooked, old wings and tandoori that were put back in the fridge than reheated. We took one bite of each chicken dish and left it aside, as we tried to enjoy the others. When the server came by I did let her know that, that portion of food was not editable..... Seriously If you saw this meat and ate it , you would probably be sick in the hospital! (That's how bad it was) She said sorry and walked away. No offer to make a new one or make things right? Seriously she didn't even care. A few minutes later the table beside also complained about their food was reheated old food. Hot outside..... Cold inside. Gross...... This place use to be good..what happened its not even decent, not even the service.
My boyfriend has a good personality and even though he knew the food lacked he complimented on the good and pointed out the bad(comon no one else should experience this) As I agreed and was talking the server walked away! Are you serious? We always always tip atleast 20 percent. At this point no one cared we were unhappy... Do not waste your money here, you catch them on a good day and have one decent meal but risk getting sick from their low health standards.
Our bill wa 68$ we left $70. And really it wasn't even worth that. If I did that anywhere else I would feel horrible, seeing how they didn't care to make things right or even offer to make something new or fresh... Or yet not charge is for it but of course.... No care in the world.
Go here be prepared to be dissapointed. You been warned!
This is our preferred place to eat at. One of our favorites. Its well priced and great food. They don't keep you waiting and they treat you good. This is a great place to bring a group of people and to share all different types of food. The staff is friendly and always ask if you need anything
We had never been here before... Ordered food to go.. Gave us the wrong order and the few things we had that we did ask for we're tasteless and fatty! When asked for our money back the women told us theanager was not in... Repeatedly. My bank was gracious enough to eat the charge! Never again will I go to that place!
My work partner and I had chicken donairs from here. They were terrible. Thing is... They had to know they were loading it with burnt chicken. They fell apart on the first few bites, pitas were dry and old. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, but my feet surely won't step into that place again. Makes me wonder how on earth they have got good reviews. It was like eating the burnt bits off the grill. Yuk. Really.
Went here after talking to a person about decent Fillipino food. So I thought we give it a try. So the better half and the kids came along. The food is premade and you pick the dishes you like along with rice. 2 dishes and rice for $8.50. The lady behind the counter was nice enough to let me sample some dishes as it was the first time I went to a Fillipino restaurant. They were friendly and patience with our kids having a hissy fit at times. Overall the experience was good. The food itself was not too bad. The fan favorites are solid but next tme I go to a Fillipino restaurant I am bring my buddy to tell me exactly what I am eating. Decent place, sketchy area.
I've eaten there a number of times and loved every minute of it. I've been there enough times that the employees actually know me by name now which is awesome to hear for a chain restaurant. That kind of thing doesn't happen anymore. At least not that I know of. I will come back here again and again as I continue to have amazing service! Friday and Saturday nights are always busy so I like to head out a little earlier but its totally worth the wait.
The atmosphere and flow of the restaurant was promising but the experience went downhill after that. Although the server seemed friendly and knowledgeable we were served Beer on tap that was completely flat and tasteless. When we decided to complain about the beer, our server confessed that the CO2 was not working properly that day. Why would you serve the beer then? We proceeded to order the best wine from the sub-par wine list which was the highlight of our dining experience. The appetizer platter was lacking identity - calamari was not bad but chicken strips and cocktail shrimp drenched in cocktail sauce left us completely confused. I ordered the moussaka (Which I'm thinking has to be good...how can you go wrong with mashed potatoes, bechemel sauce, ground beef and eggplant?). I would say it was 75% ground beef, 2% eggplant. Pretty much like eating shepherd's pie. The dinner special - chicken and tiger prawn Souvlaki was nothing to write home about. And last but not least, the rice was, without a doubt, minute rice. Hard and completely tasteless. And, the potatoes were aweful! So disappointing because we love greek potatoes - who doesn't?! Do yourself a favour and spend your money somewhere else.
This place is garbage. I took my boyfriend there after work and the food was disgusting. Meat was greasy, so greasy that it went through the bun. Fries were okay. Don't waste your time and money here. And the price is too high for such low quality stuff. Four thumbs down from us!
