Been here a few times. It's not your typical $8.95 for a bento box kind of place. Their is $18.95 I believe but more than enough food to feed two people. Vast assortment of different delicacies that you don't normally see. Everything comes artfully arranged in various vessels. Our Yaki Soba came on ask sizzling skillet and tempura in a beautiful basket like dish. Service is very good, attentive when you need and leave you alone to eat (which I prefer)
As an avid Pho-goer, I'm glad there's another pho joint in Surrey. I've visited All About Pho several times and have also ordered food to go a couple of times. The food is good, with the vermicelli and rice dishes being better than the pho or bahn mi dishes in terms of flavor. Maybe I've been going to my other Pho staples for too long and am used to their style of pho, but I just found the pho here to be a bit more bland (and with little meat) vs. some other restaurants in Surrey.
The ambiance is a bit roomier and a lot nicer than most of the older pho places in Surrey. The heart warming welcome message on the walls and ample parking are wins in my book. However, service isn't great - they seem disorganized and often, I had to wait to be seated, wait to order, wait to get the bill, wait for change... I was waiting a lot!
Will likely be back if I were out with friends that cared about ambiance more than food quality.
You can't beat the to go specials at Maki Yaki. Two large rolls of Dynamite for $5, two rolls of tuna for $3, or two rolls of California for $4. I've ordered many times since the restaurant is close by my home. My only hope is that Maki Yaki will season their sushi rice! The lack of rice vinegar results in bland (albeit large) rolls.
Spencer needs to have a serious talk with the serving staff at Jolly Macs Pub. The place has hit the skids. I went in yesterday got a total bad attitude from the blonde guy behind the bar blowing up balloons. He was downright rude. We have spent so much money there over the years with Fundraisers upstairs to having a fun evening downstairs and even after work we drop in for a few. We are fantastic tippers too. We have also spent a fortune in the liquor store over the years as well and have purchased gift certificates from Jolly Macs too. This blonde bartender was so rude behind the bar I would have fired him on the spot. Several months ago we were in the Pub as well and a heavy set waitress mistook me for " some guy " and his friends skipping out on their bill. She too has has given us some attitude ever since. We do not skip out on our bills and believe me we have money. Were not those kinds of people!! She said I sure looked like the guy....Whatever.
We were to go to Jolly Macs for dinner and drinks on March March 21st, 2013 all 9 of us for a Birthday but we have decided to go to Guildford Staton instead. Friendlier serving staff.... Jolly Macs loss not ours.
We were looking as well at doing YET ANOTHER fundraiser at the beginning of May upstairs but Jolly Macs has been scratched from the list and when I got home yesterday I contacted several pubs in the area that expressed interest so thats what we will be doing.
I travel to many cities for my job and so many establishments cannot do enough for a " The Customer " Some of Jolly Macs staff seem to give you the impression we are doing " Them " a favor.
Well were done with Jolly Macs and will never step foot in the place again. There are too many other good places in Surrey to patronize that appreciate the business.
After reading some bad reviews which blew my mind, I felt the need to let everyone know how good this place is. I can ONLY imagine that these bad reviews were written by rival pho joints, or by the first two customers to eat there, before they got everything ironed out as a business.
The broth here is amazing, the noodles are perfect, the salad rolls and peanut sauce are the best I have had at 2/3rds the price of most places, and the service isn't bad considering how busy it can get.
As far as my girfriend and I are concerned, it blows every other place in Surrey and Langley out of the water.
We have visited the Roadhouse on a number of occasions because of the great reviews it has received. I am afraid I cannot concur with those reviews. Although they have a large selection of items we have found the dishes to be mediocre at best. We have tried a number of things - burritos, sandwiches, salads and they were all pretty bland and tasteless. The portions tend to be very large but the food is definitely nothing special. Also, one of the worst cups of coffee I have ever had and the noise in the place makes it very unpleasant. If you are looking for a place to fill up on huge portions of fairly bland food, the Roadhouse is for you.
The Harbour House in Crescent Beach used to be a Sushi place but has changed hands and changed focus. The menu now includes some great breakfast and lunch items as well as some asian specials. They have recently started opening for dinner. The service is friendly, prompt and courteous and the food is always fresh and tasty. They also have some smaller size dishes for smaller eaters which is great. We go there fairly frequently and always receive our coffee and water seconds after we sit down. The breakfast quesadilla and omelets are excellent as is the chicken pita sandwich. I haven't tried the asian specials yet but my friend has and was very pleased. Another friend loves their meatloaf sandwich. This is one of our "go to" places! We will have to try it for dinner now that they have extended their hours. If you like tasty, fresh food this place is a winner.
DelRios is a real hidden gem tucked away at the end of a strip mall in Ocean Park. The food is super fresh and tasty. They make their own pizza dough daily and they make their own salads - no bagged salads here! The El Greco pizza is fresh, tasty and the crust is excellent. We have been there numerous times and everything is always excellent. Their outdoor patio is nice in the summer - one of the few restaurant patios in Surrey that is not right beside a main road. The staff is friendly, capable and attentive but not overbearing. The decor is really outdated but they are currently in the middle of renovations so hopefully a big improvement is on the way. DelRios is a casual little place with great, fresh food. This is one of our favourite little places!
We have been going to Hazelmere Golf Club for years and had always enjoyed it until recently. My family took me there for my birthday recently - the service was very poor and my entree was so bad I couldn't eat it. The food is not fresh at all and I am sure some of it is pre-cooked, frozen and then microwaved. Also, we have noticed that the place has not been well maintained. The furniture and carpet in the lounge/pub is so filthy it is a real turn off. We will not be going back. Too bad because we used to go about once per week.
The fact that they roast the chicken in house and it isn't processed chicken, makes all the difference in the world. Sure you can go to subway and get a cheaper sub but I'd rather have a healthier and a delicious sub any day. great toppings and choices as well.
I've been going there for awhile, and love the food, and the owner is super nice as well.
OMG so there's this thing I ask for which will blow your minds. Its not a sub!
Brown rice with the jerk chicken, ask for chili on top and cheddar. I just made your day
ok, bye! I'm getting hungry
Ahhhh my first review! Gonna be a food critique now! haha
Been to this place since my first day in grade 8 at Frank Hurt! They have a deal for 3 slices and a pop for $5 total. (So it's great if you're a kid and you don't have any extra on you). I usually went during lunch, and went throughout my high school days. Not only was the food really fresh at lunch the two owners (husband & wife) were the nicest people. There were times some of the kids would have less money or forget their money, but the owners let them eat, and just asked them to be an honest person and bring the money the next day.
As I've grown older, the wings have taken over my life, haha. They're are sooo good, we usually pick them up with friends to watch hockey, football. Our only issue was the new BBQ sauce, it's good and all but we miss the old BBQ sauce.
The pizzas are great as well, our family orders probably 2 times a month from here, loaded with toppings. You get 3 toppings per pizza which is usually more than other pizza joints, for a decent price. They aren't cheap but affordable so that's great for my family. Other than a few mishaps and mistakes that happen (we're all human) it's a great place to go to and has been around for I think 15+ years. No business stays open that long without having a great product and service.
Definitely recommend this place! Enjoy
I love going to this Hot Pot place for good and fresh food, you really get your money's worth, the soup base is good, you can choose 2 soup bases, not that oily and not too spicy.
They have a wonderful variety of everything from meat to seafood, and vegetables. Everything is fresh, the restaurant is small but very clean, and I especially like the service, the servers are prompt and attentive. My favorite dishes is always come ontime and make me happy when have dinner here. I always leave happy and satisfied,it definitely one of my favorite restaurants for hot pot!
I'm never disappointed at the South Surrey De Dutch! The food is always excellent and different from anywhere else. Coffee is delish too.
We were taken to our seats and served promptly on a busy saturday morning. The staff were very accommodating to our group. Atmosphere is bright and nice. I got the #4 hash which is a dutch pannekoek with a dish of hash browns mixed with veggies, meat, cheese and topped with hollandaise sauce. Can't go wrong with that choice! I'm drooling just thinking about it! YUM!
My family and I went here for dinner and few drinks the other night!! Its under new management and their doing a great job! The new chef and the new staff make sure the drinks are always topped up! I highly recommend this place and I will come here again! The food is amazing, the new daily specials are just another level! Please help the new owner succed and bring up rockwells name!
I saw that the chef was doing another new menu, i was so hoping he didnt get rid of some of my favoraites, he axed a few but added some amazing new ones. The new appetizers are wonderful..i had the lettuce peanut wraps, different than everywhere else ( like ive always said about this place..so good) the stuffed yorkshire puddings..holy cow..i had both on half price appie and i am still full. The way these are plated makes me happy to eat and show everyone im sitting with. I am a avid member of the Rustys Food fanclub(if there was such a thing, i woud)
Again, not let down and always happy to try something new...the chef put on a coouple of man vs food items..a monster burger and a breakfast that sounds like an overload of the senses...cant wait to go back and try these ones...but i would suggest sweat pants..he doesnt give small portions..
keep it up guys...
To start with not many Indian restaurant do free delivery in white rock. Were happy to see in a flyer that this Indian restaurant do Free delivery. Order this weekend and food was gr88888. Love the Chiken Korma ohhh my new fav. indian dish. All the dishes were really good and had a decent quantity too.
Called and ordered 1 small pizza and 1 large pizza and were told 45mins for delivery. After 1hr 15min we called to check on it and were told it was on it's way. We asked what time he left, but the girl on the phone seemed to not care or want to answer any questions. After 1hr 30 mins, we called back again and were told the same thing. At this point we cancelled our order and told them we would not be accepting the order.
At the 2hr mark, after we had already cancelled the order, the delivery guy showed up at our door. We told him several times what happened and even though it was not his fault, we were not going to accept or pay for the pizza as it had been a 2hr wait and we phoned and cancelled. After haggling with us and not leaving the door, we gave him $15 and took the pizza.
We ended up with 2 large pizzas, so on paper it was a good deal if you ignore the terrible service and long wait. The pizza tasted good, but both of us have had upset stomachs today & last night.....
Bottom line: we will never order here again or ever recommend it.
You want good reliable comfort foods come to this place! Everything on the menu is good and as a local it is hard to choose between the local pub and Delrios. Pizza is excellent and I usually order takeout appies and pizza for game days with friends!
Dining in is pleasurable and the servers hustle under the ever present friendly management.
I see a lot of seniors who dine their which attests to the great value!
Too bad they don't open for breakfast!
As a local I am biased as to the "local" pub. Ambiance is very pub like and you get a vibe of the community there. Excellent place to meet up with friends and the food is consistently good. But by far the most fun happens during Canuck games and you gotta get there early and pace your self with good eats and drinks.
Save yourself for the Ocean Park Special Pizza you wont regret this awesome comfort food!
Best breads and goodies!
The smells, the presentation, the excellent service and fabulous recipes make this place a delight to visit. Always fresh with delicious ingredients, this is how to buy your bread everyday. Servers know how to work the line up and keep the business brisk they always convince me to try something new!
