best burgers ive had anywhere hands down. better than 5 guys and veras.
free toppings and not crazy expensive i always get the double bacon cheese burger and its massive i dont even need fries and its only $10 for just the burger.
service isent great neither is ambience but its a burger joint in surrey what do you expect?.
they also offer a "man Vs. food" style challenge and a frequent card if you get 8 stamps you get a free burger.
this pub is very close to my house and thats probably the only reason im a semi regular there not nearly as regular as the rest its almost "cliquey" with the amount of super regulars they get there that all socialize with the staff and some of the staff seem almost rude and stand offish and sometimes ignore you if their chatting to regulars at the bar if your not one of their buddy buddy regulars. some of the menu items leave a lot to be desired and are a bit of a rip off but i wouldnt expect "A" grade pub food from a place that looks like this and doesent take enough pride in their establishment to do a few renos and update some things.
also they have consistently terrible wings and thats one thing i think any pub should be able to do right when i got there i just play pool and have a few pitchers of beer and play keno mid afternoon when its not too busy.
as for the pros: id have to say yes the bathroom is always clean and its a decent place to relax with friends and play some pool when its not busy. to sum it up probably the only reason i keep going back is because its the only pub in walking distance of my house.
Years ago I used to boycott this place, but it has now become one of my favourite sushi spots. New owners go a long way. There is a younger woman who is usually our server who is extremely nice and friendly. She always knows my order and remembers me when I come which is sweet.
The absolute best thing on the menu is the hwe dup bap. It's a korean rice bowl with veggies, sashimi and a spicy sauce. It is massive (can get 2 solid meals out of it) for $11. I have tried it at other restaurants but it's never as good. The sushi is always good here too - there's a huge menu so I havent gotten through it all yet.
Very affordable pizza is sold by the slice and they always have some ready. Not great pizza but if you are in a hurry, quick lunch is conveneint - all thru the afternoon too. I have never had any problems with the people who work there. Too much cheap pepperoni is a problem for me but the vegetarian pizza is fine.
I come here just as often as I get out of bed and start my day. I love the service and the food is to die for. The prices were recently adjusted but I don't notice any difference in my pocket. It's the most delicious fast food mexican out there. Be prepared to have star treatment by the employees and leave with a smile on your face.
Seriously though, if you are hungry or hung-over this is the place for you. What you've heard is true.....the portions are disgustingly huge! I ordered a mushroom burger, they must have poured the shrooms on with a dump truck. It is a self serve outfit so no tipping required. Same price as McDonalds but wayyyy more grub
I am reviewing the new location in Newton:
Once per week we eat at this restaurant and for good reason. The staff call us by our first names, the food is fantastic, fresh and healthy. The ambiance is wonderful with a giant aquarium and beautiful fish. I order the #1 but in a spicy broth...... Outstanding with tons of meat. Beef stew is good as well.... Very filling. My wife enjoys #30. And my son a child sized #11. I am so very pleased to have quality pho in my neighbourhood. The three of us eat for $25. We always leave a $5-6 tip as the staff are wonderful, friendly and efficient. Thank you Pho Tau Bay. You should be proud of your new location!!! Don't change a thing
We used to frequent this restaurant regularly at least once a week, as a family of four. The service was always great, and the food was good. After a new sushi restaurant opened up in the neighbourhood (Maguro Guy) we took a brief hiatus from Hananya, and recently went back. Wow, has it ever gone downhill!! The service was terrible. I had to go up to the counter 3 times to get stuff since our waitress was non-existent. The food quality has gone down. They offer an All-you-can eat now, but I was afraid to order off that menu since it came with so many rules and regulations!! The worst part about our return there was that I asked for hot sauce and the waitress told me there was an extra charge...for hot sauce, are you kidding me??? This place has officially lost our business, and they are slowly starting to lose a lot of other customers with their poor customer service and greedy "extra charges". Save yourself the trip, and instead go to Maguro Guy. Way better food quality, presentation, and no extra charges for hit sauce!!!!
Went with my son to fatburger for early dinner and actually contemplated if I should have a burger for dinner. And I am so glad I did. I ordered the vege burger with all toppings and my son the beef burger. Both were incredibly good and moist and the toppings are even better... very fresh. The price is very good for the quantity and the size of the burgers!!!
If you want to eat a burger skip the fast food joints and head to Fat burger... you are sure to love it!!!
We stopped off here for dinner one night last summer and wish we hadn't. The restaurant was about half full, but the waiter seemed hesitant to seat us. The room was so bloody dark we could hardly read our menus. The lights also surged and flickered every time an appliance got turned on in the kitchen and was also quite noisy.
Our service was down right awful. He seemed to make every effort to avoid us the entire enight. He was also rude or disinterested when we spoke to him. It took forever to get our drinks, which weren't any good. It took even longer for him to come back and take our appetizer order. He kept going to the other tables loudly chit chatting with the "locals" while we starved. We had to flag him down several times.
We asked what were some of the popular dinner items and were told "Its all good". After we ordered, we overheard him telling another table about the specials, which he never informed us of. When I asked if I could please change my order to the special, which sounded much better, he said no it was too late. When our meals arrived, we were incredibly disappointed. My partner had the lobster pot pie and it was BLAND! No flavour at all, and very runny. I ordered the bouillebaisse and it the seafood was very overcooked and the broth was bland. I took a couple bites and had to write it off, it didn't taste fresh and the texture of all the seafood was terrible. We sat at our table, ignored again, for a very long time not eating our meals as they got cold. We finally waived our server over and complained about our meals. We were basically told that it was too bad, and our dishes were whisked off.
We were again left to wait a long time. We actually got up and went to the front to get our bill so we could get out of there. They did not discount anything for us! We begrudgingly paid the bill and left and will never return again. We would NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone.
My husband and I chose to go Crescent Beach today for lunch on a beautifulSpring day. We liked the menu of this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We were greeted right away and told to seat ourselves. We sat on the patio at one of the many dirty tables at about 1:30 in the afternoon. To make a long story short, it took several minutes to get our order taken, my husband ordered a beer and the waitress never brought it. He had to go and find her after 15 mins to remind her. Our food was dropped off and the waitress never came back to see how everything was , nor was she around for us to flag down to get us cutlery, napkins, ketchup and a coffee refill. Nearing the end of our meal we finally saw the other waiter walk by us and we were able to get napkins and a coffee refill. I couldnt drink the coffee though because I didn't have cream and getting the waiters attention had already proved very difficult. It took another several minutes to get her attention to get our bill. It was honestly a very painful dining experience and the first time in my life I have left zero for a tip. Not ONE time did our server come by to see how we were doing, we had to flag her down or go and find her.
We witnessed the same thing with all of the tables around us too.
The food was pretty good, but not worth it for the terrible service.
I have tried many indian places near the house trying to find better take out, and this place still takes the cake. The food quality, quantity and value cannot be beat. Not only is is cheaper than any other restaurant - but you get way more food as well. Usually ordering a couple dishes with naan and rice will give the two of us hefty dinner portions for 3 days and will cost us around $30. I have tried most of their dishes at least once, and have never been disappointed. Lamb curry, saag paneer, butter chicken, garlic naan and mulai kofta are our favourites/stand by dishes.
I have never stayed to eat here, but the take out service is always very speedy. Food has always been hot and ready when they say it will be (usually 20 mins). I haven't had a lot of the sweets, but the barfi and gulab jaman I have had are delicious as well.
Can't be beat!
I don't venture to Surrey very often so when I had to find a place for a good, quick dinner, I went online. Reviews of this place were good so we stopped in. Within 20 minutes the place went from opening up to completely full. The service is friendly and quick but it's the food where they shine..top quality. Attention to details. The sushi was fresh and beautiful works of art. Sushi prices are average. The menu has a good selection of the usual dishes. I'll have to go back to try the cooked food. The place is small with only 6-7 tables for about 20 diners and a sushi bar for another 7 or so. Lots of free parking.
Even though yesterday on friday april 20 it was busy because of "420" this restaurant managed to give still fresh and great food at late night i went to the surrey one and got shitty service food tasted like shit . The packaging was great too greatly wrapped! Made my night. I came here at 2:00am food was made fresh and nicely packed with friendly service. Thank you.
Ok we had coupons to use and were in the area, First impressions ,turn around and walk out.Small neighbour hood stripmall pub. Second impressions ,this place needs a serious clean up. Bathrooms almost third world filthy and I have been all around the world.Floors ,walls ,outdoor eating space dirty DIRTY DIRTY. Ok ordered their chicken burger , it took a long time ,but wow it was great , wife ordered the chicken salad ,also great , VALUE in the meal BUT ,we didn't want to think about the kitchen cleanliness.
,RATED 5 ,,no.... 7 ..no... 3 ... /10 , young chef but will move on to greener pastures.
We went on the weekend. I don't eat breakfast out much but really love it. This place knows how to do it right! the coffee was hot, fresh, delicious and plentiful. They have nice good sized mugs too, not those silly teacup things.
I had an omlette and it was perfect! Cooked properly so it was well done with cooked veggies(I hate the half raw ones in omelettes) caramelized onions and just the right amount of cheese. The toast was perfect with not too much butter and the hash browns, shredded, crispy and amazing(I could have used more of those but didn't need them). The whole plate was the perfect size not too small and not too much. Excellent.
The grilled cheese was cooked perfectly and melted with real cheese not chemical cheese. The burger was declared awesome as well with 3 types of onions on it including a huge crispy onion ring!
The whole meal was a hit and totally worth it. Best breakfast place I've been to in years. Pay a fair price and get a fair and delicious meal in return. Go with coupons and then expect them to give you other than whats on the coupon you will be disappointed. Why do people do that?
We wanted to find a different restaurant to try when we found this one.
One of our dishes was sweet and sour chicken balls. I looked for the
chicken in the ball. There was very very little chicken and rest was
dough. When we complained, they told us that we wanted chicken
that we should have ordered some other dish. They kindly gave
us a $2.00 credit for our next dining out with them.
I have never in my life been insulted in such manner.
Will never eat in this restaurant again.
Not very Chinese, more like an attempt from another ethnic group trying to cook that way. Food was overcooked and dry. Way too much salt or msg. Portions were small. Driver was rude and had only coins for change but would not accept coins in payment so we got shorted $5. This place was recommended to us, we will not eat this garbage again. For the first time in our chinese food history, we threw out the leftovers.
Oh how I wanted these other reviews to be true, so I took a party of 4 with me to the Taqueria Jalisco in Surrey based on the good reviews on this site and others. Unfortunately, all of us had a horrible dining experience. A couple of loud, inebriated gents were eating away at their nachos slugging back beer, which I guess are the regular patrons Mexican restaurants rely on to survive in the lower mainland? This place is definitely more of a sports bar type place than a restaurant, and actually there are many pubs and bars that serve better nachos and Mexican or Tex-Mex type stuff.
I wanted to report that the people were friendly or attentive but they didn't care that I only took 2 bites. There wasn't even a "do you want this to take home?" or anything. They seemed interested in getting people in and out of there. Moreover, the prices are outrageous. There is no chance we caught this place on an "off" day. Our table was dirty, the restaurant was tacky and cheaply decorated and nobody cared. Shame.
I've been going to this pub for over 20 years and used to love going there. The menu was large, food was good and watching live bands on the weekends was fun. Fast forward to today. Tiny menu, lousy food and no band. And no reason to go there anymore.
