I just ordered take-out this evening: a tuna roll, 4 tuna sushi, and chicken teriyaki donburi (comes with a free miso soup). For $20, we ate so well! The tuna roll was stuffed with tuna (and not the cheap stuff either). The tuna sushi was so tender and HUGE. Luckily there were two of us eating this feast because there was alot of succulent tuna. The miso soup was really tasty and NOT salty - what a great find! The donburi was shockingly enormous. The bowl was stuffed with rice, the most delicious teriyaki sauce I have ever tasted and the equivalent of at least one full breast of chicken. The chicken was so tender and delicious, we really gorged ourselves. Even so, we were unable to finish everything (and we both have healthy appetites). This was a stupendous meal and one we shall repeat again and again and again...
I've been driving by this place sushi and noodle house on 160th ave for years, as well as walking by it when I shop at Clancy's Meats.
We were all quite tired and didn't want to drive to south surrey to our favourite spot. So we decided to give it a try.
The welcome we received was not great, " You can sit in the corner." And ourr waitress was initially cool, with no smile.
But ah the food! It is without a doubt some of the nicest sushi I have ever tasted. The rolls are large and plump. They were delicious. The shaved ginger for mixing with the wasabi and soya sauce beautiful.
Service and attiude warmed up quickly. We were served probably by 3 to 4 different wait staff during our visit. The tea was flowing anf the 3 of us were full and satisfied. Our youngest daughter ruled the california roll the best she has tasted.
Ten don and 4 rolls came to $23 before tip. Very reasonable, excellent quality. The spicy tuna roll however, left our lips burning. Well, it did say it was spicy.
We'll be back for sure.
Visited here the other day and was very skeptical given the location - behind a Mac's and next to a butcher, but the food was very good and very fast. I had a simple chicken teriyaki, california roll, and shared some Tempura - all of the food was good and delivered to the table fast, what more could I ask for.
The ambience is fine, but obviously you'd be hardpressed to give it more than a 2 given the location. That said, it is comfy enough.
Will definitely return and perhaps order out when in the area.
So I have been trying some local sushi restaurants around me, and Yoko Sushi and Noodle House was next on the list. I ordered spicy tuna sashimi and a dynamite roll. I picked up the food and liked the location and pleasantness of the staff, and that is where the positive experience ended. The dynamite roll was the worst I have ever had, it was dry and the innards were low quality, so bad in fact that I ate only two pieces and decided to throw it out. The spicy sashami was also bad. There was no evidence of anything that could be called "spicy" sauce, and the tuna seemed old and tasted fishy. Overall I was quite unhappy and will not be returning to this restaurant.
This place lacks the ambiance sought for in a japanese restaurant but the food tries desperately to make up for that.
The food is good, not great and the portions are small.
They do make a good spicy chopped scallop roll and I have to admit not many places can get that right.
I would not go here again, not because I solely disliked it but because of its averageness.
I also would not recommend it to any of my friends or acquaintences.
I would suggest to Yoko to update the interior, give some rhyme and reason to the decor and servers appearances, that might help make up for the small portion sizes.
I would also not give it a bad review, it is good enough but not spectacular.
