Pub food by definition

Pub food, by stereotypical definition, should not be good. It is normally an afterthought, or something to fill you up while you drink. I'm sure the foodies and gastropub enthusiasts are rolling their eyes at this point.

But "pub food" quality is really what we got at Tree Rock. Wooed by their sign of cheap wings and booze, we ventured in to try several flavors of wings, some cocktails and a roast beef dip sandwich. The wings were a bit dry and some looked like they may have been reheated / re-fried. The different sauces for each flavor tasted very similar (sweet and salty) with very little to distinguish one wing from the next. My beef dip was passable but only in a cafeteria kind of way. Drinks were standard but not inventive.

As for value, yes the wings were cheap and drinks were well-priced, but for literally a couple of bucks more I can be elsewhere with better quality food.

Probably won't be back.

Hubby and I went to Tree Rock for Sunday lunch, having driven by many times since the Mug and Musket (same location) days and wondering what it was like now.

Don't be put off by lack of signage, go and try the door! They were open, and not very busy.

They have completely renovated the old Mug, and there wasn't a fake seagull in sight. Nicely done, open and clean. No particular theme, but the ambiance was relaxed.

I ordered a steak sandwich, hubby ordered Louisiana chicken burger. Caesar salad was OK, fries were nice and hot and crispy. The piece of steak was thick and excellent, done perfectly. Hubby thought the chicken burger was "really good". Our server was attentive and pleasant.

They brew their own, and the honey lager was on sale. We ordered the honey lager and their pale ale...both nicely done.

The owners were there, and very friendly. We would go back and try the Greek-influenced (souvlaki, etc) offerings on the menu. Nice place.

Nice Pub, food was good, nothing special

Went here for dinner as it's close to home. The pub is nice inside, (washrooms clean), my server was polite. I ordered a rueben with fries & a beer. Prices are reasonable, with some good specials. While the fries were fresh & tasty, there could of been a bit more meat on the sandwich. It was good, but not outstanding. I would go again to nibble on appies with my beer to watch the game.

We have just recently moved our business to the area and figured on trying a few of the restaurants/ pubs in the area. Before i explain I want to add, I disagree with the review that Pub food is meant to be mediocre as Guildford Station has awesome food!

Anyhow, not only did the kitchen mess up our order on 2 counts, they nearly killed one of their patrons. When someone states they have an 'allergy' to tomatoes it does not mean - just pick them off, as their kitchen suggested then did when it was sent back... proof? Well there were tomatoe seeds in the salad! Good thing she decided NOT to eat it in the end - they would have put her in the hospital to say the least. Booz is Booz, after all its a pub... would not go there for martinis though... just a beer palace!

We decided to give them another shot. A bunch of us gals attended the Pub for a 'pickies and beer' night. (We are between 35-47 business professionals)We ordered nachos to start - a staple of most pubs - not only did it take over an hour to come, it was the size of a side plate with platter pricing! by 8:30pm the game watchers left and the pub turned into a young gang-banger hangout - The Owner of the club was present but definately absent in his duties and let the poor waitstaff try to keep the cool of the place. Anyhow we left when one of the young men in a group of 7 or so got into a yelling match with a manager, while one of his party started for his pocket knife. It was time to go.

To date we have tried several times though the afternoon and evening (suckers for punishment - but it's close to work) and NOT ONCE have they turned our opinion of them around. This is an UNWORHTY establishment, poorly managed and masks their inefficiency as a reputable business with large TV's and cheap beer - DONT BOTHER FOLKS - TOTAL WAST OF TIME and possibly your health too! It gets dangerous in there!

PS - Drug deals are rampid outside their establishment - an ongoing day or night problem!
