Went for lunch. Usually expect to get out for well under $10 for a lunch special at a sushi joint. Not here. All the sushi combos were at Least $9.95 however they did include miso soup. The bento boxes started at $11.95 I think with most being much more than that. They had a fair amount of food but still too much for many people for lunch both food and cost wise. They also charged for green tea and did not tell you that whne you ordered. I have never been charged for green tea before so it came out of her tip.
Restaurant looks like the strip mall is new, but is seems somehow a little old, and dirty inside, the smelly plastic fish pond doesn't help.
As I said the sushi was good and well made although the soy sauce tasted like cheap chinese stuff porued into a Kikoman bottle.
Not a huge fan of this place but might go sometime again if i wasn't paying!
Haven't been here for a while, but felt like I wanted to add my opinion.
Previously, I've been to this place at least four times (only once was MY idea....). I find the service slow, sporadic and reluctant. Tea or water refills are not offered. It is hard to attract servers' attention, even with the buzzers at each booth. (hmmm, don't Korean restaurants usually have buzzers to call servers...?)
The food is just barely OK. I've had bento meals and sushi meals. With the bento meals, some of the food that should hot was cold, some of the items that should be cold were lukewarm. Quality.... not outstanding. Maguro/tuna was mushy and fishy on more than one visit. Tempura can be soggy. One time I ordered chawan mushi (steamed savoury egg custard in a ceramic container) - the middle of the custard was cold, the shrimp was NOT edible.
Ambiance. Lots of Japanese-y bric-a-brac, not much sense of a design plan. The washrooms were OK, but certainly NOT impeccable. The whole place is not that old, but starting to look shabby.
Value? Quite pricey for less-than-exceptional food.
I won't go back there again.
I have gone here 2 times now and both the times the service was brutal!!! They are extremly under-staffed which is not fair to the staff especially the sushi chef. And when the server does come around she is very rude and makes you feel like your inconviencing her (like the person said below). I live close by but I don't mind taking the extra drive to Maple sushi.. you won't be dissapointed!
Been here a few times, and frankly, will not be going back. The service here is pretty cold - it seems like 1/2 the people who work there dont really want to be there..I've come in for pick up and sit down..and was greeted coldly by the workers both times.. The food has been quite disappointing every time I have gone. I've ordered the lunch box which says that it comes with rice.. which both times I have ordered it, it did not! I've actually had to throw out a lot of the food since it just wasn't up to par. I would definately not recommend this restaurant to anyone who's looking for good Japanese food.
