Smile Indian Restaurant serves a menu of Indian cuisine such as butter chicken for lunch and dinner.
Either they improve their food or people are going to go there once and probably not again. I will say that a reason to go back are the samosas and veggie pakoras. I've tried the other dishes hoping to hit a good one but usually strike out. Sincerely hope they pick up the slack though. They are nice enough customer service wise.
I went for lunch with my girlfriend after I got the flyer in the mail for a new Indian Restaurant in Cloverdale. They have great lunch specials (butter chicken, naan, salad and rice for $6.99). We were seated right away and our drink order was taken very fast. There were only 2 other people in the restaurant at the time. We order samosas to start. They took a little bit of time to get but they were well worth the wait. I found them delicious and not at all greasy. When the rest of our lunch came I found it to be great. The chicken wasn't overcooked, everything just tasted fresh. We left there with more food for dinner that night. The service may not be fast, but this restaurant has only been opened about 6 weeks and it takes time for some restaurants to be a little faster than others. I myself don't mind the wait because of the delicious food that comes at the end.
My hubby has ordered some Samosas from here once and said they were so delicious. I had wanted to try them so we decided to go for dinner. What a mistake! We went in and there were about 3 other people sitting at the tables waiting for their take out food. The owner greeted us and we sat at a table feeling very awkward. A lady brought us menus (which was their pamphlet), 2 glasses and a pitcher of water. We waited and waited and waited, at this point it was really either we leave or go up and order take out which seems to be their specialty versus eating in. So hubby went up and waited for the lady to come from the kitchen and ordered. We waited for about 25 min for the food. We were so excited to try and new indian restaurant and wow what a mistake! The Channa masala was alright although the peas were hard and small, the paneer makhani which is supposed to be paneer with the sauce they use for butter chicken tasted exactly like campbell's tomato soup with a bit of cream added to it....disgusting! The samosas not sure what happened but they were the worst ones I have ever tasted they were dripping oil and I mean dripping!! Never again!
I had a great experience eating here. The Chili Chicken was superb. And my wife had a few of the samosas and i had to drag her away from them. I was served by the happiest couple, grinning away. You could really tell they enjoy their work, and it shows in their food. Thank you for the great food, keep up the good work. see you soon.
