Good authentic Thai food

I have been to this restaurant a few times with friends. We all like the food there. I have been to Thailand a few times and familiar with good Thai food. I was a bit surprised to find a thai restaurant that serves good authentic thai cuisine in Surrey. The food is excellent and ambiance is warm and welcoming. My favorite dishes are Tom Yam Gai (Thai hot and sour soup with chicken), Papaya Salad and Kaow Pad Supparod (fried rice with chicken, pineapple, egg, shrimp, cashews and raisins). My friends really enjoy their Red curry, Green curry and Pad Thai.

Good Thai Experience in Surrey

Have been to this Thai restaurant 3 or 4 times over a few years and had a meal last night that compels me to write the review. To start with there are so few decent chinese/thai/malaysian asian restaurants in Surrey it is a treat to find one that is good. Ordered 3 dishes I hadn't had here in the past based on advice from other reviews. Started with a bowl of Tom Yam Gai soup that was delicious and was a huge amount for 2 people. Great broth and a bit of a kick. Ordered Pad Thai and the and Pa Naeng curry with prawns. The curry was advertised as an extra spicy curry dish and it certainly is. The prawns were large and fresh. Could have easily got away with the soup and 1 entre dish for $20 for two and would have been stuffed but wanted to order an extra dish to take home for lunch the next day. Portions overall were very good.
The Pad Thai was a pleasant surprise and as good as I have had at any Thai restaurant in the lower mainland.
The service has always been consistent and friendly and knowledgeable in explaining the dishes on the menu. The interior is very well done.

Great little restaurant

Went there for lunch today with my wife. We ordered the Yellow Curry and the Ginger Beef. The Yellow Curry was delicious and the Ginger Beef was pretty tasty. Portions were enough to fill us both + some to take home. Everything on the lunch menu is $10 after tax and there is a good variety of dishes. Each lunch item also includes a really tasty hot and sour soup and a spring roll (I think you can also sub a salad for the soup). We are planning to go back to try out some other dishes. The waiter and servers were both very polite as well.

I love this little thai place! The food is flavourful and always delicious. The lunch menu is an outstanding deal. $8.99 for soup, spring roll and an entree. You leave satisified and full. The food itself is delicious, and home made. The spring rolls and sauce it comes with is the best I've ever had. The service is friendly, the people who work there all seem very sweet. The only downside is that they charge $3.00 for the rice..... I would reccomend going for lunch instead of dinner as the dinner menu is significantly more expensive. All in all it's a delcious experience!

Good Little Neighbourhood Thai Place

Sandar's is a tiny little Thai place in a strip mall near The Future Shop in Surrey... but who cares about the location (Ok, not me)! The food is really good (the ginger beef is OUTSTANDING) and the handful of employees who work there are friendly and nice. We often get take-out and the portions are a good size and I think the value is definitely there. We like to frequent this little place about once a month and we'll continue to go back. I love small family-owned restaurants like this and it's a shame there's never more people inside... but on the plus side, fewer customers equals a waiter who's more devoted to your own personal service!! This place is a great little spot to bring both family and friends. I know it must be tough to run a small business like this but I hope it can stick around for a few more years.

Not Bad, but Not Amazing

Sandar's Thai Garden was the first place I stopped by to eat when I first arrived in Canada. I ordered take-out and was excited about having Thai. The yellow curry was good. Solid good, not outstanding. I was disappointed with the non-existent amount of chicken in my curry. I also didn't care for how greasy the curry tasted. It wasn't the kind of curry that is creamy and filled with that coconut aroma. I did, however, love the potatoes in the curry. Those were outstanding! The rice was pretty delicious too! I'm sure I'll be back to try some other selections...but I think Ban Chok Dee Thai is still going to be my favorite spot!

The Best Thai Food

My friends and I have enjoyed the food here time and time again. We can only comment on the lunch menu, as so far this is the only time of day we have dined here. The lunch menu consists of numerous choices of Thai dishes, and includes soup or salad and a spring roll for $8.99 ! The dishes are large enough to share, and usually we will each choose a dish so we can all try something different. Their Pad Thai is amazing and the Curry dishes are off the charts as well. I have never had a disappointing meal there. I would recommend this to anyone who loves Thai food or who is looking to try something new. Enjoy!
