As the title says, after driving by this place every day to and from work i tried this place for lunch. I came in and was surprised at what i saw. I have been to one other Pub in Cloverdale and I am very happy to say that this place is nothing like the Clydesdale.
A western theme inside kinda threw me considering it was modern rock on the speakers. Checked out the menu and saw alot of the usual suspects, i went for a few of some Ive never tried. Loved the stuffed yorkshire puddings..damn huge for an appetizer, then i had a seared tuna salad. It was fresh and very very good. I wouldn't have thought a pub would serve something like a cactus club would. I will be back for the food with friends. Big room to watch the game on the biggest tv I've seen..think the bartender said it is an 80inch..nice.
The decor was a little weird..but i guess it is cloverdale, so the western theme is warrented. I cant wait to go back to watch a game and have some drinks. Great Job Rustys.
As mentioned in my previous review we had only ever been to Rusty's for an appy and a hockey game. We decided to try this pub out for dinner the other night. Service was excellent, very attentive and friendly. My fiance ordered the Steak Sandwich which was a good cut of meat and cooked perfectly medium rare. I ordered the Vegetarian fajitas, served with warm flour tortillas, rice, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and sizziling sauteed onions and peppers.....an excellent value for $8.99, the dish was huge (I ended up sharing!) Really quite a good meal for pub fare! Personally, we're not huge country and western fans (hence the ambiance rating) but with the pubs more than sufficient number of T.V.'s we'd definetly return for a hockey game and dinner.
Three of us girls ate here last Tuesday. It happened to be their $2.00 burger night, so we all ordered that. The burgers and fries were decent. They came with raw onions, lettuce and tomato. They could have used a bit more sauce of some sort. Meat was well done and tasty. With 3 drinks and my burger my bill was only $14. What a deal! The place has just opened. I don't know what it was called before, but it could use some spiffing up.
I am a avid rustys customer it seems, I like to review my local watering hole at least twice a month ( it sucks my old posts get deleted)..Anyways, I am always game to try new things here, everything i have had has been amazing..I tried a pulled pork sangich ( i thought it was a typo ..apparently the chef likes to watch epic meal time)..It was big, messy, dripping all over my face, hands and forearms...It was amazing. Although my only complaint is it didnt come with a bib..perhaps ill bring my own next time. I also had the shrimp tacos to start..very fresh and different than you would think. Wasabi coleslaw..cajun shrimp..two things i thought wouldnt go well together but wow..it was good. Pretty sure ive gained too much weight over the past 6 months of going to Rustys..worth every ounce..keep it up chef.
I saw that the chef was doing another new menu, i was so hoping he didnt get rid of some of my favoraites, he axed a few but added some amazing new ones. The new appetizers are wonderful..i had the lettuce peanut wraps, different than everywhere else ( like ive always said about this place..so good) the stuffed yorkshire puddings..holy cow..i had both on half price appie and i am still full. The way these are plated makes me happy to eat and show everyone im sitting with. I am a avid member of the Rustys Food fanclub(if there was such a thing, i woud)
Again, not let down and always happy to try something new...the chef put on a coouple of man vs food items..a monster burger and a breakfast that sounds like an overload of the senses...cant wait to go back and try these ones...but i would suggest sweat pants..he doesnt give small portions..
keep it up guys...
My friend and I decided to go to Rusty's for her belated birthday dinner. When we first walked in the door, we loved the saloon doors. Since the pub is a western style pub, with pictures of Clint Eastwood and John Wayne on the walls. I thought that the overall look of the place was quaint, it was vey friendly and not intimidating whatsoever. The place was busy, they were doing some baseball thing and there were parties galore. The two of us found a seat by window and sat down. Despite the fact that there were people everywhere, our neat waitress came and gave us our menus, greeting us very warmly. We went on a Friday, so long island iced teas were on special. They were very good. We ordered our dinners after she got us our drinks. We hadn't even managed to sip though the iced teas when she came back with our food, I was extremely impressed; I've waited longer for food at McDonalds on a slow day! I had the fish and chips, they were out of this world, the coleslaw that accompanied it had a bit of a spice to it, I absolutely loved the gian portions. I had a hard time finishing a one piece fish and chips meal. We tried the FYI drink, it tastes like Fanta Cream Soda (I highly recommend) and the Adios My Friend (Also very good).
Overall, I have never had a better experience at any pub or restaurant. I will continue to go here and have recommended Rusty's to everyone I know. We will be going back for MY birthday.
On a recent outing with family and friends we dropped in to Rustys Neighbourhood Pub. The service was friendly and helpful. Unfortuneately that is where the complements end. My husband and I both ordered Club House sandwiches. We asked the waitress specifically if they used fresh turkey, not cold cuts and she said she would check with the kitchen. She reported back they used chicken but it was not processed cold cuts. Well suprise suprise when we got our sandwiches it was processed chicken cold cuts. I had ordered mine with a side salad and it was small and rather disapointing as well. We sent it back and asked for burgers as now we were pressed for time and the rest of our party was eating their dinners. We got the burgers quickly but they tasted like they used those cheap frozen patties so it was definately nothing special. In any pub I have had a meal in when you order fries you get nice home cut ones, well here we got thin, overdone and dry fries. While my husband was paying the bill the staff behind the bar were complaining about how the taxes and drinking laws are hurting the Pub business. Well the food you are serving is certainly not helping your business as we will never come back.
I had the Wonton Soup - apparently their specialty.... it was so disgusting I had to hide the fact that I was about to throw-up with each bite. The broth tasted like dishwater, the meat was tasteless but it too almost made me gag in terms of its texture. There were no vegetables in it al all. I love Wonton soup (The Dodger Neighbourhood Pub's is awesome!)... this was highlighted as their specialty on their menu - it ranks far from special. My friend's meal wasn't much better. Good fries but soggy battered fish. Ick. The waitress was very nice, but unattentive in terms of a lunchtime turnaround (keep in mind the place was almost empty). I was late getting back to work, needless to say won't be going back. Poor rating in every regard.
