Pho, a steaming bowl of goodness. We've been going to this Pho place for years. The spicy beef noodle soup is particularly good, the seafood or chicken soups are delicious too. A bonus is that the strip mall its located in across from the Central City skytrain station also has a steamed buns place (new town bakery) as well as another viet restaurant that sells viet subs. So if you have more then one craving or everyone wants something different its pretty easy to accomodate. One time my mom even forgot her purse for a pick-up order (first and last time she's done that btw) and they just shrugged and said pay next time.
I have been to Pho Tam many times and I'm happy to say that it's consistent. You walk in and notice the cafeteria style seating, looks uninviting and seems as though it belongs in that neighborhood. This place is definitely lacking when it comes to ambience. The service is typical of any Pho house, you must ask for service and be very specific about what you want. The washrooms are always clean and this place is always busy, you can expect to see people from all walks of life. As soon as you have your first taste of the Pho you forget about everything else, this is the only thing that counts. They have many varieties I usually stick with combo 5 ( raw steak and flank ) large and spicy please! The broth is by far the best I've had in surrey, the noodles are just right and the meat is plentiful. The salad rolls are nicely done, iced coffee is great, I'm not a huge fan of their spring rolls ( to much oil still in the roll ). None the less great Pho and its consistently great, it keeps me coming back.
Lived in Surrey for 2 years and this was our normal haunt for something quick & delicious. Always consistent and good portion sizes. My usual is the house special. They put more ingredients than any other restaurant I know. Pho Ga and bo bun hue are good. rice dishes with pork
Ambiance: Typical of most Vietnamese restaurants, which is less than spectacular attention to decor, but accommodating.
Food: Such good pho, definitely worth the trip! Better than a large number of other Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver.
Value: The portion sizes are quite large. One large bowl of pho is more than enough to feed two average size people.
Located right on the Surrey Central skytrain, so I've definitely made a point to have Pho Tam's number so I can call and take Pho to go on my way home!
I eat here at least once a week.
The Pho tops any I have had anywhere in the Lower Mainland.
Ambiance and service are not top notch, but hey this is Pho!
Served fast, hot, fresh and great value for the money.
The spring rolls are also great.
My hubby and I have been coming here for years now, and we have our favourite, which is the beef ball and rare beef slices pho along with the salad roll or deep fried spring roll for $8.95. And it's verrrry large, so go hungry. The difference between this place and other pho establishments is the amount of beef and soup you are given, as well as the quality. I don't know how they do it, but I've never tasted anything like the broth there. And I've tried many many pho places (I work in Richmond and go to a lot out there!) as has my hubby, and we agree there is absolutely no comparison. This place is cash only, and parking is at a minimum. You can park in Safeway across the street and pay a buck or two to park, and Pho Tam will re-imburse you. It's not the best area of town, but I've never ever had a problem there. The staff are fast, efficient and friendly enough. They seem to focus more on getting their job done efficiently and correctly than making friends, which is ok with me!
pho tam is a really nice place to eat as it is close to skytrain station and of course because they have this outstanding pho
i ordered combo with large bowl of rice noodle with tendon and rare beef plus spring roll.it was $8.50
i was so satisfied
the spring roll was a bit oily but so yummy with pork and veggie inside.plus their sauce gives it a huge kick.
also the pho,it has TONS of meat ,it is like endless.i am serious.
the quality of the beef was outstanding, and delicious.
but the main part for me is the broth itself, it tastes like heaven.
the place was a bit dirty and not as good, so does the service,it was pretty decent. however i came for the pho,so who cares really?
overall really nice place to eat pho with good prices as well.
deserves to be tried out
I've been going to this restaurant for years now. I haven't tried everything, but I can't think of a single thing I wouldn't eat here. The bowls are huge, the ingredients are fresh, the fried spring rolls are hot, and everything is made to taste without that feeling like they just put powdered seasoning into water.
A quick look at the restaurant kinda shows you that they may not spend a whole lot of money on 'ambiance'. Don't come here expecting a good overall experience - it's all about the food here. The service is good for what it is. They may not always serve with a smile, but they're quick and that more than makes up for it.
Parking can be a bit of a pain, but they'll reimburse you if you park in the paid stalls at safeway. It's also a bit of a sketchy neighbourhood, but I'd rather take a midnight walk through Surrey Central than Broadway Station. I'll never stop going here.
pho tam is by far the best pho place in surrey. it tastes great and is a lot cheaper than any other pho places near by. whenever i go here it is never empty. the service is pretty fast and the food comes in big portions compared to others. overall this is a great pho place, drop by if ur in the area.
this pho place is great. this place is always at least half full. prices are good and big portions. medium is $6.50 and large is $7. as said before you might as well pay the difference of 50 cents because there is a significant size of the bowls. their soups and great and the other hot foods are ok as well. i've been here many times and have been satisfied every time. are the prices a a little cheaper than other pho places. very good value!
