The Pantry features a menu of Canadian family classics prepared using the freshest, quality ingredients.
Wife and I and two Guests arrived at 5:00PM to a half full house.
The Only Male Server in the Restaurant was assigned to or table.
He was curtius and made great Gestured that he would tale care of us ROYALLY.
After he took our orders (Fish n Chips X4 ) he disapeared for a VERY LONG TIME.
He told us the slow service was the fault of the Kitchen.
I asked for more (endless fries) Fries as soon as possible.
I finished my dinner before the (over cooked) fries arrived......He again advised it was the Kitchens Fault.
I was quite embarased at the whole thing.......................... We invited new residents to the area......and this "FLAG SHIP" of THE PANTRY group let us down FULLY.
I better restate this... ONE TERRIBLE WAITER/SERVER loused up our evening to the point I really don't think I will be returning to The Pantry.
My friend and I went to White Rock today for the day, and were looking for a place to eat. We went to the Pier on the beach but found the food there to be expensive for what it was (I am not interested in paying extra for my meal because it's near the beach) So originally we were thinking of doing our usual IHOP or Earls, but then came across this restaurant, and decided to give it a try. I am glad we did.
The food was amazing, I order a double 1/2 lb burger which came with coleslaw and fries, my friend ordered the linguine with shrimp. I only had BBQ sauce and mayonaise on my burger. The burger was FANTASTIC, although I am not a big fan of BBQ sauce I decided to try it with my burger anyways, still tasted ok, but next time since I am not a fan of BBQ sauce I will have it without and I am sure I will like it even better. I also had a bit of her linguine and I found that too be spectacular.
The Ambiance is awesome. They even have a built in fire place, which really made our visit here nice.
The service was just okay. We were forgotten a couple of times and had to wait for the waitress for a bit to come take our order (though she did say she would be a little while, so that was appriciated)
I definatly plan to return to this restaurant (and hopefully soon)
We went on the weekend. I don't eat breakfast out much but really love it. This place knows how to do it right! the coffee was hot, fresh, delicious and plentiful. They have nice good sized mugs too, not those silly teacup things.
I had an omlette and it was perfect! Cooked properly so it was well done with cooked veggies(I hate the half raw ones in omelettes) caramelized onions and just the right amount of cheese. The toast was perfect with not too much butter and the hash browns, shredded, crispy and amazing(I could have used more of those but didn't need them). The whole plate was the perfect size not too small and not too much. Excellent.
The grilled cheese was cooked perfectly and melted with real cheese not chemical cheese. The burger was declared awesome as well with 3 types of onions on it including a huge crispy onion ring!
The whole meal was a hit and totally worth it. Best breakfast place I've been to in years. Pay a fair price and get a fair and delicious meal in return. Go with coupons and then expect them to give you other than whats on the coupon you will be disappointed. Why do people do that?
Now I remember why we have not been to this place in a long time. Mediocre everything except our waitress. She was very pleasant. Tasteless breakfast scramble and very small portion for $12.00. Cheap tasting coffee.
This a favourite place for the elderly as they love the 2 for 1 meals.... But the meals are small and made from cheaper ingredients.Even the catsup is lower quality. This Pantry was quite busy with the Blue Rinse crowd. O well lots of other places in the S. Surrey area.
That's the slogan on their website, but I tend to disagree. Maybe I'm from another era, but I remember
restaurants that created food from scratch, with local produce, before everything came in a box.
I realize it's cheaper this way, but not the way food was intended to be. We north Americans have been far to
ready to accept bad chain restaurant food, with way too much sodium, huge portions, but low quality. No wonder obesity is epidemic.
I ordered the roast turkey dinner, and asked the waitress, was it carved from a real turkey, she said yes, they cook it up in the morning and de-bone the turkey. Well what I got was processed white turkey meat, that had the texture of shoe leather, well that's a bit of an exaggeration, but maybe you get the point. Doesn't anyone out there like turkey like it tastes on thanksgiving day, or Christmas when it's carved off the bone. Turkey is cheap, and how hard is that to learn in culinary school. The mashed potatoes were not real potatoes, but from a box.
One shouldn't have to spend $75.00 to get a decent meal, but it's possible. I hate to give a bad review to the pantry, i've had many great breakfasts here, but it's hard to screw up bacon, eggs and toast, they're always fresh, but restaurants need to rethink food. There were 2 people there when I came in at 8:30 PM.
I'm going to keep looking and writing in White Rock/Surrey until I find a restaurant with real home cooked food from scratch, until then, it's going to be bad reviews for cost cutting, out of the box food, by people who don't care.
We came to the pantry the first 2 times and got great service and then down hill it went. We went for 2 for ones and we wanted to get one milk shake (a drink by anyother restaurants standard) instead of the buy 2 drinks, even though 2 coffees is cheaper than a $6 milkshake, and they rudely said no and treated us terribly, and the service is horrible, and the 1st 2x they let us. We came back after having complained and being told that it was a blip and we'd be treated great next time and the service was even worse. The waitresses talkd behind our backs and gave us the eye, the service was non existent, and the burgers came to us without lettus and tomato and we had to ask for it. To make things worse, the fries were cold, they gave us half the fries they normally would and cold. And when we asked for the free appitizer they said no, they didn't make any, and best still, they normally will give extra lettus and tomato on side and they said they'd have to charge because it came on burger (barely, even after asking). I told the waitress the one in surrey actross for costc does give extra and she said I should have gone there then, in a bitch tone!Never aked how our meal was, coffee was cold and never came back to ask us if we wanted refills. Don't go to the south surrey Pantry location, they treat customers like dirt.
I visited the white Rock Pantry for the first time in years. To be honest I had kind of written the Pantry off. I was in for a pleasant surprise. The menu is brand new and is finally on the same level as some of their competition. I had the Sunshine Chicken salad for dinner and it was fantastic and very fresh! My aunt had the chicken pot pie which looked equally as good, just like home made :) The service was great and our server was quick and friendly. As I have now learned the Pantry is under new ownership hence all the improvements. I look forward to returning soon and can’t wait to try their new breakfast menu too! :)
... especially on Sundays. They've got an all-you-can-eat buffet that has pretty much everything you could ever want for breakfast. They also offer a good selection of juices and their coffee is always hot, prompt, and fresh - an important thing after a long Saturday night. The service is good and the lighting a little on the dim side, which is perfect for the kind of place it is. It's got this old-timey feel to the decor that's understated and appreciated, and the price simply cannot be beat. It's a perfect place to start a lazy Sunday and finish unwinding before the week starts again.
