We went for lunch on Jan 8, 2012, restaurant was not busy, just 2 tables. We ordered butter chicken, malai kofta, roti and steam rice. butter chicken is too sour for me, Malai Kofta is really good though. Don't like their roti, too try. Don't like their steam rice, too dry.

My total bill came to $30.69. I have a groupon of $20. which leaves the final bill to $10.69. I tip $2.74 on my credit card. They should charge me total of $13.43. Guess what?! I checked my cc, they charged me $15!? Called them right away. They said they made a mistake but cannot refund the difference back to my card!? and asked to pick up the change in person!? Hello, I live in Burnaby. The gas price to take back the difference is way more!!!. They said they'll give me a discount next time I go... Yeah right, If I'm going again...

your first impression from the parking lot is that this place looks like a dump but once you try the food, it certainly changes your mind.
i ordered the butter chicken with rice and it was absolutely fantastic. its one of the best butter chickens ive had and i would certainly come again just for that one dish. the only complaint is that the portion is relatively small for what you pay. however, when you think of most indian restaurants (except for the ayce ones), their meat dishes are always small so i cant really criticize them for that.
our waitress was an older lady (probably part of the owners family) who was very polite and kind. sweet personality but she wasnt around enough when we needed her (i.e. to get our bill or extra napkins).
value wise, prices are reasonable. much cheaper (and tastier) here than the other indian restaurants on w broadway. so if you are not looking to spend as much money, this is a great place to hit up.
ambiance is this restaurant's weak spot. the carpet needs to be replaced because it looks dirty and the dining area itself could use a renovation. there are a few interesting ethnic paintings on the wall which helps to take the attention away from these flaws but not long enough.
this place is basically a hole in the wall type of joint but i have to admit their indian food tastes great! in this case, that is a trade-off i am willing to take.

Great food but too much salt
By casej of coquitlam (6 Reviews)

I love this place. Been coming here for the past 4 years at least twice a month.
Looks like the place has new owners. We ordered butter chicken (the best), prawn masala, vegetable byriani, garlic nan and a lamb dish. I asked the waitress if it was possible not add any extra salt as one of my guest had high blood pressure and could not too much salt. She said she would tell the kitchen.
When our order came in, the dishes where quite salty, even more than previous visits. The worst was the prawn masala, it was so salty that it was uneatable.
I will still eat in this place but I hope in my next visit they will cut down on the salt

Needs Better Servers

This restaurant has a nice decor and a good location. Many of my friends have complimented on the good food it offers. I have frequented this restaurant lots of time and my main complaint is the women who serve you. They are rude, not well spoken in English and just never listens to you !! The servers are the most frustrating part of this restaurant. Try to order take out via the phone and you will be lucky to get what you ordered. Get decent, english speaking servers and you will do lot better.

East Indian food at its best
By kirstena of Vancouver (5 Reviews)

Tandoori Kitchen in Surrey serves some of the finest East Indian cuisine available in the BC Lower Mainland area--regardless of price. There are others in Vancouver that charge more, but the food is best here. In fact, this location is just one of five jointly operated (and with similar names), but this location is clearly better than the two in Vancouver. It must be the kitchen crew and chef. Don't miss out on the malai kofta--heavenly. On occasion we'll take the big drive from Vancouver to Surrey just for another fine meal here.
I'm quite surprised to be the first reviewer of this restaurant; it is tucked away inconspicuously in a little strip mall just north of the big Future Shop on Scott Road.
