Went here for take out after a day of shopping. Ordered the Cali combo and a dynamite roll on the side. The total bill was almost $17. Received miso soup, 6 pieces of salmon sushi, 6 pieces of tuna sushi, 6 pieces of California roll, 6 pieces of Dynamite roll and the sushi chef threw in 4 pieces of Crunch roll. It was very nice of them to toss in the extra roll. Unfortunately the overall taste and value of the meal was satisfactory. I was not terribly impressed with the taste and quantity. I came here on the reference from other dinehere customer. The service was excellent but the quality of the sushi was just ok in my opinion. Would consider other sushi places in Surrey before coming back.
The food is amazing here. Best sushi around and I live in an area with tons of good sushi places. To find this place in Surrey and Cloverdale no-less is a huge surprise. Food is always fresh!
The same staff are always here. I've had take-out on Christmas eve at 8pm and the staff were just as friendly as they are any other day. The staff are all Japanese and some barely speak English, it's great!
It's really quaint and they take photos of customers and put them on the walls, it's really neat.
From the moment me and my two sisters walked into this place we were taken. First of all the hostess opened the door for us as a welcome. I've never had this happen in the big city!!! Lovely waiting area, everyone is so very friendly too. Now the food......Wonderful Miso Soup (made from scratch and hot.) Tempura prawns and veggies are cooked perfectly and served with warm dipping sauce. We ordered a
teryiaki chicken lunch box to share....it's to much for one or you better be a filler up kinda guy, Extra
tempura prawns were a must to add to a huge plate of sweet stir fried veggies on rice . Everything is so
fresh and very well prepared and plated. I haven't one complaint about this place. I'd recommend it to
Enjoy, enjoy ...also the prices rock compared to the city. We will be going back again....
***WE JUST MOVED TO THE NEIGHTBOUR HOOD, WHAT A WONDERFUL WELCOME, THANK
YOU OEC JAPANESE ***
These reviewers are saying OEC is cheap, and has poor quality LOL. This place is expensive, but they have some of the best sushi I have ever had in my life. The quality is top notch, the portions are quite massive, and the service is great. As stated, they even give you complimentary items, ranging from tempura, to specials rolls. You gotta try it for yourself if you live in/near cloverdale.
This restaurant recently re-opened again after being closed for about a year while they attended to a family emergency in Japan. Like mentioned by another reviewer this place is actually run by a Japanese family which is somewhat rare for a sushi joint.
The restaurant itself is small but clean, we've eaten in a few times but usually just get takeout. The service has always been good when we've been there, although sometimes I find the restaurant uncomfortably warm... I guess because it's so small.
Food is quite good, they make the best Dynamite Roll I've ever had and I like their Alaska Roll although it's too big to pop the whole piece in your mouth at once which irks me.
Prices are average but the portions are large so I think it's good value.
Nice Japanese Family, always friendly, I recommend this restaurant.
The place is a miss when your driving by the restaurant, however, if you happen to catch this gem of a place then you should know this restaurant is actually very good for its location. I recommend the usual sushi and raw fish, nothing to complain about. The service is descent on a Wednesday night, the waiter was fast and generous. Good place for a bad location.
This family run Japanese Restaurant in Cloverdale is a hidden gem. The food is always good, they have all the standards as well as some specialty rolls which are unique.
The service is very very friendly, though it can on occasion be a bit slow since it's just the family doing the best they can but they're super friendly so you really can't hold it against them.
The prices are average, though every time we've been there they have given us a complimentary specialty roll which is valued around $8 - $10 as well as complimentary Miso soup so I think all things considered it's very well priced.
It's very clean as well which counts and like I already mentioned, it's run by a great Japanese family. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Try the Three Sisters Roll and the French Kiss Roll. Both super good.
