food needs impovement

I go to the pub at least once a week,The servers are very pleasant and helpful.the one food item that is very good is their pizza.The Greek salad is mediocre and has a very salty dressing splashed over everything.The feta is also quite salty.Too many cucumbers and not enough red onion or tasty tomatoes.The dressing should be replaced with a good grade olive oil.The quesadillas are bland and not very exciting with the burgers falling in the same category.For over $7 you get a very small spanikopita..very disappointing.The food is a tad expensive for the quality you receive.They should send the cooks to River's Reach in New West to see how to prepare excellent pub fare.The ambience is excellent and there is a good clientle..a great place for a drink..and a bite to eat is average.they could bump the food up a few notches and this would be a super place to hang out for eats.

Over priced draft beer!

I will not comment on the food other than to say AVERAGE.
In a pub that is not bad BUT to have overpriced beer and AVERAGE food is unforgiveable. NORMAL pubs include the HST in the menu price for drinks - NOT HERE!! What they call a pint s/b 20oz is actually a short sleeve less than 16oz. So a $4.99 "pint" becomes a $5.58 (short) pint - the word"rip-off" comes to mind.
Check real pubs like Sawbuck's to see the difference!

Time for a quality check up!

Went to the O/P pub last night and had just received the worst meal yet.
My wife’s $7.99 Caesar salad must have been to difficult for the cook to make a fresh one, so he just added some more lettuce to the existing bowl of watery dressing and the remaining limp lettuce.
Maybe the dressing was made wrong or not mixed before use?
Wilted romaine and soggy croutons does not make for a good ceaser.
For the price you pay you should receive a comparable quality salad.
If your going to serve it with some garlic toast at least make it worthy instead of the oil soaked sponge you served that evening.
The beef dip for 11.99 had a micro waved doughy baguette with dried out beef that was several days old by the taste and the noticeable rainbow sheen. There comes a time when any meat is past its prime and should be used for stock or thrown out, not served.
The au jus was Bovril flavoured water without a hint of any beef flavour.
The fries were cold and greasy with brown speckled fryer residue attached.
A staple menu item so simple to make yet it was so poorly constructed with inferior ingredients.
My Caesar Cocktail came with an over fermented pickled bean and the lime was brown.
I ordered another and it came with an over ripe olive and another brown lime filled with ice but with over an inch of empty glass showing.
Does the bar keep have no pride in what he serves?
The pub may be busy but it sure is lacking any discipline as far as quality goes.
It takes the same effort to prepare good food as it does mediocre food.
The cooks are just slopping the stuff onto the plate with out any personal gratification.
To say it is busy kitchen doesn’t mean it’s a good kitchen!
The staff have fallen into the and there is no one to expedite or do an ongoing quality checks!
When you say it’s not very good to the waitress, they get all offended and say it looked like it was ok, we serve so many and I have had no had complaints.
When some one says that it doesn’t taste right it should be removed from the table and taken back to the chef. But if the waitress makes a complaint during the evening rush the kitchen has no time or personal to address the situation properly.
I understand that when the place is busy the kitchen gets swamped and behind.
That still does not mean that they should just serve unappetizing menu items without care just to get it out of the kitchen.
When reading other peoples comments I can see that I am not alone in my observations.
Its time for the management to step up the quality and service. They should lead the staff to properly serve the fare they have chosen to offer the paying patrons.
I am tired of spending my dinning out dollars on mediocre food that was once good but now has greatly fallen in both quality and taste.
You are only as good as the last meal you served.
Take some time to polish up the act before your clients find other places to eat and drink!

the most important is the food and it wasnt enjoyable, Pizza does not have the old place taste as no one liked to finish his pizza.
we find it hard to get a server attention, after few attempt we get what we want very late. as thhey always say sorry we dont have this item but we do have that one!!
ambiance well it depends. ooh
i'll try the beach next time at least i'll enjoy the view

Need better quality food

The new restaurant is very nice inside. Reserve ahead as it gets very busy on weekends.
The food definitely needs higher standards, it just doesn't cut it.
With a brand new building they should of hired a chef and not a short order cook.
Hopefully the owners will one day realize this.

Recently re- opened in a brand new, nicely-designed building as a neighbourhood pub with a family side and a bar side. While the rooms are quite nice, the menu seems like it 's from the '70s. Our pizza was a 3 out of 10, thick, doughy and a bit on the greasy side. The Greek salad was buried in an unidentifiable dressing (olive oil anyone?). Portions are large, but don't compensate for the mediocre fare. The vegetarian choices are limited. How about an upgraded menu and food to go with the new building?

Sometimes it is ok, other times it is bad

I live in Ocean Park so the location is good. The food is pretty bad overall. I have had some good (not great) meals there but I have had some horrible ones as well. The burgers taste like frozen Costco patties and the overall quality of the food seems pretty low. The greek food is solid but not great and the pizza is decent. I had the tortellini alfredo and it was awful! It tasted like plastic bag. Portion sizes are decent. I have had some decent waitresses but some awful ones as well. There was one waitress that was awful! Got pissed off at me when I asked for a recommendation, slammed our waters down on the table, and never showed anything close to a smile. I am not a fussy person but I was appalled. I gave her the benefit of the doubt as she may have had a horrible day but I went back about a month later and she still had the same pissed off look on her face when serving customers. It is a good place to catch Canucks games and the restaurant looks quite nice but I would not recommend it. It isn't a horrible restaurant but the food seems low quality and service is mediocre.
