Popular local lunchtime diner with an Asian-Japanese sensibility. Features daily hot meal specials as well as soups, salads and sandwiches.
This little diner is sort of located in more of an industrial area, but attracts the people who work in this area. It's only open for breakfast and lunch.
They are a lunch place and they do this well. Often people will call ahead and their order will be ready upon arrival.
Their sandwiches are typical. I like the soups, especially the split pea and ham.
They often have a hot meal special of the day. I like their Japanese curry chicken on rice, but they don't make it that often anymore.
I tried a burger the other day and was shocked at how good it was. It was a daily special of homemade cheeseburger with roasted potato. The patty was thinner and flatter so it covered more of the bun, and there was a lot of lettuce and veggies on top of the burger. It was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had. It wasn't too salty or overseasoned.
The potato wedges were made from fresh potato's roasted in the oven and sprinkled with some cheese.
The meal also included either a soup or salad.
I like this place because the meal's are healthier and just seem lower fat, the portions are smaller then the average North American diner and I never feel bloated after a meal here.
It's reasonably priced though bottled drinks are overpriced here.
While it's in a strip mall, the diner is cheerful with bright Ikea furniture. I also like that they plate their meals on large square white plates, it just makes it look nicer.
I work down the street from this diner, and in an industrial area it's nice to have somewhere close and dependable on-hand. I've been there for both breakfast and dinner, and the value for the quality of the food is tops.
They have very good soups and intriguing, delicious lunch specials (even when they're not quite customary: nearly everything comes on fried rice, from barbecue to a very untraditional "souvlaki"), and the service is efficient and never intrusive.
I've ordered a few different things here and the ingredients are always fresh and high-quality, with real cheese and good vegetables.
The decor isn't fancy, but it's clean and airy and comfortable enough for a quick meal if you're not getting your food to go. A great little secret in the middle of an industrial jungle.
