My Greek Taverna serves authentic home style Greek cuisine for dine in or take out.
Went here with the significant other for a night out. I had the roasted lamb shoulder and my better half had the chicken dinner. The dinner was hot, fresh and plentiful. The dinner came with a roasted potatoe, rice, greek salad, pita bread with dipping sauce. There was a lot of food. The roasted lamb costed $17 and the chicken costed $16. The price was satisfactory. The service was very good and attentive. Not the worst but not the best greek food I ever had. Overall impression I would recommend this restaurant if you want a solid greek meal.
Not a whole lot to complain about here, the Greek food is very good and the portions are quite large. You'll pay a bit over $15 for a plate of Souvlaki and from trying the Chicken and the Beef, Chicken is slightly better but both choices are very good.
The rice and potatoes are nice and delicious, and if I had one complaint it would be that you really could do with more than just one potato. Seriously, potatoes are my favourite part of Greek food and I felt a bit underwhelmed by just one offering!
Service is actually really good, it's just unattentive. Despite the place being quieter, they'll wander off and you won't see them again for a while. It's hard when you're finished and want your bill. However, when they ARE there, they're very fun and helpful.
Ambiance-wise, the place looks like any typical Greek restaurant. Some interesting paintings hang and a strange dolphin figurine lights up from time to time, but the place is pretty simple, with a dark, cozy feel to it.
Terrific Friday night dinner. Started with calamari appy and the pita w/humus. Very nice and quite large for appetizers. 4 different entrees, all were excellent. Only problem was too little sauce on the ribs and lasagne dish and when asked for more sauce they charged $.75 for a thimble full of sauce. Funny at the time but upon reflection pretty chintzy on a $20.00 entree. Service was exceptional from a beauty of a waitress. I have to admit that when you offer great service and are beautiful to boot you get a bigger tip. Would love to come back when wallet gets replenished.
After enjoying a fabulous meal at the Coquitlam location on Saturday night, hubbie said let's check out the Surrey location the following night. Again we were greeted by friendly servers and nice smiles. We began with our usual calamari appetizer. Wow again we received a healthy portion of yummy fresh calamari with their signature tzatziki for dipping. We decided to try the humous which was on special for $3.99 and that was quite good as well with plenty of hot pita. We all ordered roast lamb and the enormous plates arrived with generous servings of lamb, those yummy lemon flavored potatoes, greek salad and rice - on one plate only since two of us asked for extra potatoes instead of rice. Again there was no way I was going to get through that entire plate. These are family owned restaurants and we just couldn't decide which one we preferred more.
I eat at the taverna probably about once a month or so. At the door you're greeted with a big smile. The staff are always friendly and joking with the regulars and family members that come to eat there. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen knows what they're doing, The food is always amazing. I definitely suggest this restaurant for people who like a good helping of greek food. There's always enough left for lunch the next day, you certainly get your moneys worth.
This is the place we take friends, we can count on a good meal and friendly service. We always try something different and are never disapointed. So lucky they are so close to home. The prices compare to any other Greek restaurant but the quality of the food is beyond compare. It is very cosy and we never feel rushed to leave.
Very tasty food. The potatoes are delicious, the tzaki and pita is always good, the only thing I'd skip is the lamb. The service is decent, it could be better though. They seem to have alot of people standing around there... The ambiance is average for a greek restaurant.. a little dark. The portions are average, you will definately leave full. I'd say this is the best greek restaurant is Surrey. They could use a better restaurant name though..
I absolutely love this restaurant and have enjoyed many dinners here. The restaurant is a decent size with room to hold large parties and has a cozy, quieter area in the upper level. There is lots to choose from on the menu, many of which I have tried, and for very reasonable prices. My top choices for appetizers are hummus with pita, saganaki & spanakopita, which are amazing. When it comes to the main course, I have quite a few favorites but my top two are chicken souvlaki and the dry greek ribs - which are to die for. Service is great and always with a smile. The food is fantastic, the portions will never leave you hungry and I highly reommend it to everyone! There are a lot of greek restaurants but in my opinon, this is the best.
Outstanding lamb, impeccably seasoned and succulent. Incredibly good value, and well well matched with an interesting selection of great wines. Was pleased to see Bacchus from a local vineyard near Langley on their list as well. Seem to be popular enough to have something of a parking lot challenge, esp on weekends, would recommend booking and coming early to get a spot.
$13.95 for roast lamb, or souvlaki (chicken, lamb, or beef)!!! And on a Friday night too! What a deal! We tried the roast lamb and the lamb souvlaki. Both were good and the portions were big. Plenty of leftovers to take home. The meat was tender and full of flavor. The rice was tasty and the potatoes were tender and lemonly. The greek salad was ok. The tzitiki sauce was nice and thick. Pitas come with the meals. I hope the owners will continue to offer these deals. In the past year or so, we stopped going out as often because we noticed the big price jump in most restaurants...and often for foods that were nothing special. Kinda takes the fun out of eating out. But with prices like this, we'll eat out more often!
My g/f and i have been here 4 or 5 times and the service has been excellent everytime, the food is served hot and without too much of a wait. The food is definitely above par for your traditional greek food restaurant. It's a nice family run restaurant and i am always greeted with a warm smile and some nice cheery greek music that is not too loud, which kinda suits me cuz i can only handle so much greek music. You may be treated to earshot of brother and sister having a little arguement about something or other in low volume in greek and with love behind it and to me that's truly music to my ears. My lady always gets the Kalamari and we share of course and it's always hot and tender and tasty, just the way we like it, with traditional tatziki, no surprises. I usually order the roast lamb shoulder and it comes to me the same each time cooked just the way i like it, falling apart soft and juicey, exploding with flavour. I wish the greek salad came with a couple more of those nice olives rather than just one as a topper, but... ya know....some ppl still just waste theirs, so i don't blame them. Come to think of it, they'd probably give me a couple extra if i asked. I think i'll try that NEXT TIME *wink* Hope you enjoy this place as much as i do if you give it a try. Oh yeah...and .... be sure to try the saganaki, which is the fried cheese, man is it good. My lady and i just get the one order and share that with a little squeeze of lemon. Yum!!
I've been a number of times and will continue to go to this little gem of a restaurant. Nice folks who work there, great food, good prices and a nice atmosphere. The Greek potatoes are great and the souvlaki is fantastic! The saganaki is really good (in my opinion) and the humous and satziki are both terrific. A fun place to go with friends and family!
I've been here once before, and the food was great and the service was fine, but the last time I went, on a Monday night, the service was terrible. we waited for at least ten minutes for simple water, and our food came at least after a 20 minute wait. after our meal, we had to ask for the bill ourselves, and the waitress who gave us our change was short and unfriendly. the food was great though. or maybe it was because we were so hungry waiting for our food.
Have been looking for a good greek restaurant for months and got recomended to try My Greek Taverna in Surrey. Best decision I ever made, The food was amzing, I had the garlic prawns, and my husband had the roast lamb, The portions were big, and I couldnt even finish my plate. Leftovers for lunch. Had great service, the waitress, was funny and personable. Huge smiles all around. Will defiantly be back.
This was the best Greek food that I`ve had in a very long time. We started out with a Spanakopita appetizer, which was melt in your mouth filo pastry. For a main course I had beef and prawn souvlaki, served with Greek salad, potatoes, rice and pita. The beef was the most tender and flavouful, (cut it with my fork) and the prawns were plentiful and perfectly seasoned. My wife had the specialty prawn dish `Prawns Uvetsi` which are large prawns, prepared in a tomato base, with feta, peppers and onions, served with Greek salad , rice and pita. The portions are huge, the meals are very tasty, and the staff is very attentive. The restaurant has been redecorated and updated, and is well worth a visit. There are no better restaurants in the Surrey-Delta area,
My wife and I eat at My Greek Taverna three or four times a month. My all-time favorite is the dry, Greek style ribs - the best I've ever had - unbelievable taste and the meat just falls off the bones. I usually have them with garlic prawns or kalamaria, a special order not on the menu, but a great combo. The wife is not a rib or seafood fan, but she swears that the lasagna is the best, usually accompanied by a exceptionally flavourful, tender steak or beef souvlaki. Appetizers - Traditional Greek Saganaki, served flaming at the table, or Kalamaria - a huge plate and one of (if not the) best around - very light batter and outstanding taste. For those of us who like a little spicier appy, the Kelfatori (Feta cheese and Jalepeno peppers) served with pita is incredible. Very friendly and attentive staff, cozy tables in the upper section, and consistently good food, huge portions and very reasonable prices!
Went to pick up takeout order only to reach home and find out that one full meal was missing. When phoned to complain got attitude from hostess and no apologies. We had to drive back to pick up the rest of the meal and after all that that food was average and cold.Never going back and would not recommend at all and instead try The Greek Village in Delta.....much better food and service..
I live in the area, less than a 4 minute drive away, and after seeing the positive reviews I thought I better head back and try this place again; it's been more than a couple years since I was there last. The reason for my non-attendance is that I honestly attend another Greek restaurant regularly which is also on Scott Road but further North. My thoughts tho is that if this ones just as good or better I might as well go here and save myself the drive...unfortunately I didn't quite find that. I pulled in and if I didn't know the restaurant was there I could almost miss it. Off the main street on the backside of a small L shaped strip mall you almost can't see it and although it looks appealing enough once you start walking up to the front door it's almost too dark to see from the road. Walking in the ambience is nice except on the verge of too dark. The waitress looked very nice but young and turned out to be very inexperienced. We requested a different table then where she initially sat us due to the darkness and that was ok, our table candle tho never got lit the entire meal. When the waitress came back to take our drink order and I inquired if they had any specials she laughed and said no, when I then asked if they had any Greek beer she said maybe but they were probably out. I asked if they normally had Methos Greek beer and she thought about it quite hard and then said yes that's probably what we have...I then said I'd have one of those if they had any...turns out they did have some and I did get it. We both ordered the Kleftico, the waitress looked puzzled, so I clarified Roast Lamb Shoulder for her and she took the order successfully. Only a handful of minutes later 2 full-size Kleftico's and a basket of Pita Bread arrived at the table. We were both quite surprised at the speed the meals arrived, not necessarily a great sign "warnings of reheating" but when we tasted it the Lamb was definitely still tender and regular Greek Salad, Greek Potato & Greek Rice along with aforementioned Pita were all very tasty; only negative is that they could have just been a bit hotter. The sizing of Lamb was actually quite large and as mentioned above that overshadowed the shabby service and questionable ambiance. The waitress did check back quickly to see if the meals were alright which was a nice surprise. However as we were just 3/4 tho our meals the waitress came to the table and put the bill down saying they would be closing up soon but don't rush. Then just at the end of our meal the waitress came back and asked us to pay because they were closing the tills. I really didn't appreciate this rush/no rush clause since it wasn't even 10pm yet there scheduled closing time. We paid and finished the last few bites of our meal and left. No further acknowledgement from the waitress or any staff, even a "Thanks For Coming" or "Have A Good Night" would have been nice. So all in all I won't be coming back anytime soon. I'll stick with the better restaurant that I've been going to for years that actually only charges $12.95 for the same meal with better service. Check them out.
