This location is the Sandman Suites Surrey. Moxie's Grill serves Canadian style food including pizza, pasta, salads, burgers and more. The restaurant is family friendly and includes a kids menu.
Went here for a relaxing night out with the better half. We did not see anything particular that we wanted to eat so we settled for the Sampler Appies and the daily special of pulled pork sandwich. The sampler had a little of everything, from calamari, spring rolls, break sticks, chicken tenders, chicken wings, rib bits and some vegies. The spring roll was gross, the rest of the sampler plater was satisfactory. The calamari was rubbery at times. We also ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was ok for the first few bites, then it became too tangy and was nothing special. It was quite small for the price. Better half had a drink and the totaled bill was over $50.. In my opinion, the value was not there as the food was borderline satisfactory. The service was good for the most part. But waiting for the bill took over 15 minutes. I would recommend Moxie for drinks and lite snacks but that would be it.
I had the fish and chips, the fish was so over fried it actually looked like excrement on the plate the chips looked like they had been in the deep fryer a couple of times before they were put on my plate.
I asked for the music to be turned down twice, my client and I finally agreed that we had to set up another meeting because we could not hear each other over the music.
I love love love every trip to Moxie's!
The atmosphere is great, service is great and food never disappoints! This last time I the Mango rub chicken, it was really spicy which I DIDNT like! However, came with sides of vegetables, mango, avacado, and a baked potato, which really complemented the dish really nicely. Their baked potato is out of this world I have no idea why! Drinks were also really good. For dessert, I had their chocolate cake with warm chocolate sauce, it was AMAZING! Definately worthwhile for the money, and all in all, a really nice night out!
This is how Moxies does it, good food but better waitresses. No wonder they are so busy. I bet the owner is one happy gentleman and if so hopefully expand centrally which is closer to us. This restaurant is now one of my favourites. Every time we've been there, it's been a great time. Delicious food and gorgeous service staff . Honestly the Moxie's ladies have me feeling better about Surrey and not so sorry that we are far from downtown. They know how to dress and walk and accompany the food. I had shrimps and I think it was Cajun sauce and it was magnificient. All this in Surrey.
My dad, me and occasionally his fiance have been opting for moxies instead of guildford station pub (still my favourite, but summer is coming and pub food doesnt do well for the bottom!) as of late for our weekly dinners. I usually get a citrus salad of some kind, it has chicken, dates, and a honey fig dressing but i always substitute arugula for romaine, or a sandwich. Our meals are always fantastic, and i love the options they have there. My dads fiance ordered a beef vindaloo last time i believe and she ordered it with extra beef, it cost her 4 dollars and was a HUUUUGE portion! The drinks are always great, if a little too sweet (i order margaritas in short, only have filled glass so its more liquid then sluch), and the specials are good as well.
My ticker though, is that when there is a game on and its me and my dad we tend to sit in the lounge side to watch the game (and i also hate being around children while eating), and for a place that seems to have such a great female, or semi-fine dining menu (including the very female centred drinks), the servers sure look like strippers! i mean when i order a slippery nipple, i dont want some random servers nipple!
As much as i would love to come here more often, the service should cover up a little, your missing 1/2 of the population by showing off WAY too much. i don't feel comfortable working in a bar, and taking my dad to a place that might hint to how i dress at work (which i definately dont like to show my multiple bits at). or ends with a lecture of how no matter what, i will be exciled from the family if i get breast implants.
I was in Surrey for a meeting and tried the Moxie’s for a quick bite. I was seated right away by the server, who was friendly and knew the menu. She kept replacing my iced tea and I think I had about a gallon before I finally begged her to stop. The honey garlic chicken wings that I had were fine, and the price was right. The whole place was nice and clean including the w/c. Overall a totally forgettable experience, but not one that will stand out as traumatic either. So I guess it was okay. I will probably go back if I am ever in the wilds of Surrey. If I am lucky that won’t be soon.
Recommended.
I've been here a total of 4 times, 3 out of the 4 i have left extremely unhappy with the service.
Food:
I originally had this at a 2 star rating because of my entree and the fact that the nachos were completely burnt. The seafood linguine tasted like something I make at home for half the price, it was bland and didn't taste very good. The mussels were cooked perfectly however and I think the portions are smaller than the last few years. I also ordered the wasabi tuna tartare with baked crostinis. It was again, nothing too special. The rest of the party ordered the combo appetizer platter. The med bread was tasty along with the miracle whip/cream cheese dip and the calarmari was soggy. The birthday girl ordered nachos for her appetizer and they came out completely burnt. Very disappointed in the food.
Service:
We sat in the lounge and the waitress was very attentive. Overly attentive, actually, but it's better than not being attentive at all. She was dressed properly, and always carried a smile on her face despite the lack of mannerisms from my friends. When the nachos were sent back, she was apologetic even though it wasn't her fault and offered to either remake the nachos or take it off the bill. I was happy with her service, and I feel bad that my party made have made her feel uncomfortable or annoyed.
Value:
I do not mind paying 20$-30$ for a plate of pasta or for anything actually, but the lack of seasonings and flavor does not make up for the price I paid.
Ambiance:
Great feel to the restaurant. The hostess greeted us as soon as we walked in and took us to our seats. For a Saturday night, I was disappointed in the lack of business around dinner time. The lounge wasn't busy and the main seating area didn't appear to be too busy either. I did like the 'bar' feeling to the lounge though.
Went here with a date (half way) and was looking for a quick dinner with full intentions of ordering drinks before spending a late afternoon and evening together. Instead of having a good meal and being treated we quickly noticed that Moxie's is not what we were expecting.
This location (or all of them?) is not at all an elegant modern restaurant. There are children running around. The waitress was in black pants like cargo, and they even had a kid's menu. cactus Club or Socialhouse this isn't.
Anyway, we skipped the wine as a result and had no appies. My seafood pasta wasnt bad and the portion was fair. I am not sure what she had but we skipped dessert and soon left. Not exactly a place that invites adult eating or considered well appointed.
Went and sat in the lounge the other night to take in another Canucks embarassing loss. The service was very slow even though it was not busy, it took 20 minutes to get drinks to the table. I had the recomended lemon pepper halibut special which was served with rice and spinach. The sides were great but the fish was overcooked, and smelled and tasted fishy. Odd, as it is halibut season and is available in a very fresh state anywhere right now. Will not go back.
