I had read quite a few reviews on Mogul Gardens, and found out tha it was maily a catering restaurant, with great food. And personally i'm all about the food. But surprsingly it was the food, not anything else, that really disappointed me. I ordered a sandard dahl and naan, because i can eat a dahl even if it is gross. And this dahl, i was expecing to be great. But sadly it wasn't, kind of oily and a little burn too. it was very hard to finish. the restaurant iself was pretty small, but noneheless the server was quite nice, always there when i needed anything. As for value, from what i ate, it wasn't worh i. I thought of complaining, but i'm not that kind of person. The naans were good though, not too burnt but a litle extra crunchy. I might come again and order something else, because their dahl isn't that good.
These guys are primarily accustomed to catering/take-out but they do have a few tables for you to dine-in...
Every piece of cutlery I was given and even the table itself was dirty, caked on food or just a greasy film on it. I should've left at that point but it was late and I was hungry... The benches that you sit on aren't very comfortable either.
The food itself tasted 'decent' but it was very oily and that ruined it for me.
I have had them cater a small party before and again, the food was decent and they're pleasant to deal with over the phone (but don't expect them to be at your table side when dining in) but again, the food was oily... at least you can avoid the oil floating around in such a large dish though. Good value.
Been going there over 12 years. A hole in the wall in an industrial zone, but if you see lots of locals going in, and the Punjabi community tend to cook at home normally, it means the food is good. The food is very very good, and shames some such served in "proper" restaurants downtown. You'll be hooked once you try it, any dish. Service is terrible by design, understaffed, and is basically a take-out restaurant, with most of the attention focused on take-out clientéle, hard to get their attention if you sit in to dine. Order everything in one shot as it'd be hard to grab a server later, as they like to hide in the rasôee. Also have to line up and wait to pay later which is a royal pain. Washrooms are gross.
Prices are reasonable, and for that quality of food, is in fact excellent. Parking is bad as is located in a strip mall, careful when backing out. Cutlery consists of teaspoons in lieu of tablespoons. Don't expect luxury treatment but be in for a gastronomic thrill trip!!! Your friends will be enjoying the food so much they'll stop chatting with you once they dig in!
This place is almost a whole in the wall, located in an industrial strip mall. The food however is amazing made to your individual taste as far as spice goes. Do'nt be surprised if they throw you a free namn or appy like they did for us. Cost I thought was beyond reasonable you get alot for what you order. Will make that special trip to Surrey to go again.
