Mirch Masala serves fine Indian cuisine and also offers fast take-out.
Cruising along Scott Rd between 88th and 96th Ave you have the choice of many Indian restaurants. How to choose the "one"? We chose be default; we saw 96th Ave in front of us and had to turn left, we ended up at our new favourite Indian eatery.
As soon as we walked in the restaurant door the delicious aromas of Indian cuisine filled our senses and made us that much hungrier. The staff led us to our table, brought us the customary water glasses and pitcher. We were told our server would be along shortly. Within minutes a very friendly and helpful young man came to take our order.
We chose to share the Mirch Masala Special dinner ($12) which is the chefs choice of three vegetarian curries, rice, naan, raita and ras malai. We asked if this is enough for two people and our server told us that it is a little too much for one but not enough for two. He suggested we add in a full dish of another vegetable curry. He told us that his favourite is the Paneer chili ($8). We took his suggestion and were very, very pleased with the large dish of paneer cubes in a spicy red chili and onion sauce.
He also returned to tell us that the chef was willing to let us choose the three other vegetable curries rather than him choosing. As always my first choice is the eggplant bartha; this dish can be a little oily if not done correctly. Our server told us that he would make sure it was done to perfection; it was, and it was excellent as were all the other dishes. The malai kofta was the tenderest, most delicious we have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. The food was truly incredible.
Just as good as the food, the service was exemplary. We were asked if we needed anything else regularly and had emptied dishes removed from the table promptly.
Overall, an outstanding meal in a very lovely setting. We will definitely return to see if this restaurant can please us to such a high degree once again.
This is our preferred place to eat at. One of our favorites. Its well priced and great food. They don't keep you waiting and they treat you good. This is a great place to bring a group of people and to share all different types of food. The staff is friendly and always ask if you need anything
Well, I have been visiting Mirch Masala for the past 4 years, when we moved to Vancouver from Toronto. Since then there has never been a time when we felt worthless coming to the restaurant. Their curries are out of the world. They serve one of the best cuisine. On my last visit, i felt as if management was changed but when i met the owner I felt so good. The waiters greeted us as usual and served us in a very organised manner. Even the owner, who himself is a cook always come to ask our well being.I personally think it's not right to blame the management and their service, just because there were drunken people in the restaurant. Nobody knows how customers will behave after getting in. Their duty is to greet everyone with respect and warmth. I was at the restaurant with my family on Father's Day and was stunned to see the way how waiters were serving every table. The restaurant was completely packed and there was a queue up for being seated. No doubt, there are some new faces but they are doing a great job. The restaurant looks much more flourished than ever before with the food and service still upto the mark. I can never resist myself from their delicious butter chicken. It's an amazing and the best place to dine in.....
Late at night trying to look for an Indian restaurant to eat in. Noticed one just off 96th, so we figured we'd give it a try. We weren't disappointed. We decided to share the dinner special were for #12 you get butter chicken (my personal favourite), tandoori chicken, rice, vegetable curry, and lamb curry, and desert with Naan. That was more than enough for both of us except we ordered extra Naan. The butter chicken was heavenly. Makes me want to eat it now just thinking about it. The restaurant itself is open, spacious and nicely decorated. Service was good too.
