I was craving Chinese bakery and Surrey isn't exactly ground zero, so I was thrilled to find a Maxim's in the Central City Mall. I scampered in and bought some of the delicious curry beef turnovers and of course I also got some of the signature Maxim's cheese cake. Service was okay and the whole place was clean. As for value, I think they are very competitive. Flavor-wise, it's Maxim's. What more need I say? Yum!
These cakes are made with real cream and fruit toppings versus your usual buttercream icing. They use a nice light sponge cake usually also filled with fruit and cream. I always buy these cakes for birthdays they don't taste like they are overloaded with sugar.
The service is also great, they always try and make it special when you personalize your cake.
It is cash only so make sure you don't go unprepared.
I picked up a birthday cake for my nephew here. I chose a chocolate fruit cocktail cake, which is like the regular fruit cocktail cake, but with, you guessed it . . . .chocolate sponge cake and chocolate whipped cream. It was so good, and everyone from 9 year old nephew to 90 year old great-grandpa enjoyed it. I also picked up egg tarts and porkbuns. Had the pork buns the next day with lunch and they were still fresh and tasy.
They ony take cash, but I would definately recommend.
