I have been eating here for about 10 years now, a friend originally told me about it and I ended up moving on the same street...how awesome. However, just moved out of the area so no longer in walking distance :( Good news I travel by it usually every day, so at least I can put an order in for pick up. I've tried 2 places in walnut grove....oh dear lord, blah/bland. But kam wah is great value for really good food, the family is supper nice, and very consistant with the dish's. I get what I order with the proper portions. The only complaint I would have was when I first started going there, they are cash only and forgot to tell me over the phone. Other than that one time, over 10 years, they are fantastic and will continue to travel as long as they are still there. I dont like wontons so it works out for me =)
Another restaurant where the chef is not exactly talented in the kitchen. Their wontons are heavy and whenever a restaurant has wonton in it's name and can't even prepare wonton's properly... its a bad sign. However this place turns out much better food then neighboring Chinese restaurants (which isn't saying much). I do love the deep-fried honey garlic chicken wings here though. The restaurant is very inexpensive and usually has $7 or less dinner specials with 2 or 3 items. Overall a good solid choice for average if unrefined food, the good part is they are generous with the protein here, so a chicken dish will have a satisfying portion of meat in it.
