Formerly the "Active Pass" pub in this location. Two storey pub and liquor store.
We went to Jollymacs for a fundraiser. What a bad idea, I live in Aldergrove and drove a good distance to support this fundraiser and to have a good night out. There were 4 of us 1 in a wheelchair. The night started out as very dangerous as we tried to get the wheelchair in the door it was not wide enough (the door) so we needed to open both doors although the pub had a ramp the wheelchair fell off the top step, because the top of the steps was not wide enough for the wheelchair, if not for a stranger coming in behind us the person in the wheelchair would have fallen and may of had some serious injuries to her who is 78 Yrs old. After we did get into the pub a young waitress put us at a table she was very nice and knew what was on tap, she was great. We were sitting at the table for ½ hour before she came back to take our order because we were not sure if she was our waitress or hostess we ask a waitress who walked passed our table to take our order, she said as she was rushing away “not my section” and I would say she said it like we were
not worth her time. I found out what her name was and I let the person who was part of the fundraiser know how rude she was. Once we did give our order we did receive our food in a timely fashion, my husband did enjoy his chicken burger but felt the fries were undercooked, I did get a burger with a salad (very fresh salad) the meat tasted like shoe leather it was not freshly cooked and was sitting in the warming tray for a few hours I felt like it tasted like they put it in the microwave to heat it up. We didn’t complete the meal and the beer was nice and cold we were not asked by the waitress if we would like anything else or how was the meal, so we just left feeling we should have gone to McDonalds. I have never sent in a review before but this pub left a bad taste in all our mouths.

Stopped in for lunch on a whim and a coupon. The place was NOT busy at all on a Sunday afternoon.
The Other Half ordered a hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. I ordered a Reuben sandwich with fries.
The hot roast beef was ordinary, gravy rather glue-y, the potatoes tasted like instant. The fries with the Reuben were very good. The sandwich itself was tired. The bread was falling apart, the corned beef was dry, and they seemed to be a bit short on cheese in the kitchen.
Serv ice was OK - the server seemed very tired and avoided eye contact.
Ambiance - having never been in this pub in its previous incarnation, I am assuming that the whole thing is original from the late 80's. Carpet needs replacement - stains and duct-tape patches. Bathrooms were very clean.
Value - most menu items under $10. Pub food without any frills.
...of not the best.
I went with my friend, and we both ordered the special that night, the all dressed burgers, and we ordered onion rings instead of fries.
I have to say it was absolutely fantastic, possibly the best burger and onion rings I ever had. I am usually disappointed by onion rings but these were perfect.
The waitress was upbeat and very attentive and just adorable in every way.
Perhaps there could be some remodeling done, but I'm not all that picky seeing as I have had The Ivanhoe as one of my old hangouts. Seriously, if you're going to go to a pub in Surrey, expecting things to be extra special is just being a pain in the ass. Get over it and have a good time, and maybe order something that, you know, isn't already known as dry and boring.
Ya just can't go wrong with the burger. I figure if a place can't do the burger right, the rest of the food ain't gonna stand up.
Also remember sometimes quality fluctuates a little, no matter where you dine. Which is why I give a place at least 3 chances.
This is a great local pub; wonderful pub food for prices that are very reasonable. Service is always good. I have come here for various fundraisers and they are a great way to raise money for soccer, baseball or hockey. This pub has the whole upstairs designed for the fundraiser.
I just want to say thanks to the Jolly Mac Pub for putting an ad in the paper for a great burger deal in May 2007. The reason for this is I chose to meet a fellow for our first date there on May 12 2007 when I saw this ad. We met there that evening had great food, great music and most of all great conversation. It is now over 2 years later and we are still togather and have a beautiful little boy together now. So coming to your pub that night was the best night of my life...thank you sooooo much...Cheers
We come here every now and then, and usually the food can be fair to middling. I've never found any of their menu items to be outstanding...even the burgers.
We were here on New Years Eve and had the buffet, which was average. The roast was a little dry, buns were hard, and really not a very large selection for a buffet. Plus the lady serving it looked like she wanted to punch someone out. Which really wouldn't be a surprise in that bar....we ended up having to leave early due to some unsavoury characters causing a disturbance in the bar, and we felt it better to leave and be safe then to stay and bear witness to whatever could happen.
The decor is late 70's, early 80's. Needs updating. Service is usually pretty good...not always friendly, but usually quick. Sometimes they have decent live entertainment on the weekends.
It's a typical Surrey pub, whattya want?
