The Hanaya Japanese Restaurant offers a calm, relaxing atmosphere and a unique menu of Japanese dishes such as a la carte sushi, salads and tempura, bento boxes and combo platters.
Hanaya offers free delivery with minium order of $30.00.
Ordered Dynamite roll, Crispy roll and Veggie tempura for pick up. Food was ready right on time, prices fair for the quality. Hostess and chefs very friendly and welcoming. Food is amazing. Delicious and fresh and well worth my 15 minute drive. My 5 yr old wolfed down the Dynamite roll within minutes, it was so good. Will enjoy meal in restaurant next time
The first thing you notice when you walk in the restaurant is the beautiful Japanese themed décor. The delicately pink cherry blossoms, glowing orb-like lamps and cozy seating create a soothing, romantic atmosphere, perfect for a date. The restaurant is never overcrowded, which makes it a nice setting for conversing. I am usually seated right away.
Customer service was prompt and polite, and the prices were right for the quality of the food. The menu covers everything from soups and salads, tempura, sushi, rolls, and meats. I highly recommend the Las Vegas Roll, Miso Soup and the Yam Tempura. They also offer all-you-can-eat, which is great if you want to try several sushi flavors. The bento boxes are also a great option, but they’re only available in the afternoons. My favorite is the Salmon Teriyaki Box, but all the ones I’ve tried are excellent.
I rate them 5/5.
I find it hard to believe that no one has ever reviewed this busy and popular Morgan Creek area restaurant. In fact, I'm pretty sure that this was listed on dinehere.ca a year ago. The staff still are the same, so what gives?
I've been coming here for many years. The lunch boxes are always good and very filling. Nice size miso soup comes first. The tempura is nice and crispy, with variety -- green bean, zucchini, yam, sweet potato and shrimp. However, I think it used to be bigger. California rolls are generously portioned, although very modest on the avocado and heavier on the mayo. Very disappointed in the tuna. Despite the large size, the tuna was mushy and had a sinew line through it that made it hard to bite apart. Yuck. Maybe it was just an off day. On the plus side, they actually have Japanese ginger (the pink stuff) which is better than the white stuff.
It also appears that they've started promoting daily specials such as a sashimi lunch box and a Korean bul-gogi dish. The latter sounded tasty even if it wasn't Japanese.
Service is very good, particularly from the younger lady who always smiles pleasantly. It will take more than one so-so meal to keep me away.
We used to frequent this restaurant regularly at least once a week, as a family of four. The service was always great, and the food was good. After a new sushi restaurant opened up in the neighbourhood (Maguro Guy) we took a brief hiatus from Hananya, and recently went back. Wow, has it ever gone downhill!! The service was terrible. I had to go up to the counter 3 times to get stuff since our waitress was non-existent. The food quality has gone down. They offer an All-you-can eat now, but I was afraid to order off that menu since it came with so many rules and regulations!! The worst part about our return there was that I asked for hot sauce and the waitress told me there was an extra charge...for hot sauce, are you kidding me??? This place has officially lost our business, and they are slowly starting to lose a lot of other customers with their poor customer service and greedy "extra charges". Save yourself the trip, and instead go to Maguro Guy. Way better food quality, presentation, and no extra charges for hit sauce!!!!
I have been frequenting them for a little over 2 Years and I always go back when I visit this area (which is not desirable). By far, the best Japanese and Korean foo outside of the Japan (yes I have been there too). The staff is always plesant and very courteous. Try the Korean foods for the best experience but they also make good burgers, meats and the BBQ too.
