Fieldstonene bakery is a French style bakery located beside Crescent Park. Fieldstone specilizes in hand-shaped artisan breads baked using organic flours and traditional baking methods.
It's taken me years to actually visit this bakery at it's original location. They supply a few other stores with their bread and I've always purchased it there. This bakery is a bit French and their breads are baked in a French stone-hearth oven. "Fieldstone Artisan Breads contain only the finest natural ingredients including Certified Organic flours, filtered water and sea salt." The proof is in the taste, I can eat this breads plain. The storefront is classic European, with a welcoming exterior. Inside the bakery is bustling with staff creating the breads from hand. When you purchase a loaf they don't pull it from the front display they give you a nice warm loaf that's been freshly baked. Their baguettes here are amazing, be sure to try the roast garlic and parmesan. You can see the real roast garlic pieces. They are amazingly generous with their ingredients, and the prices are very good as well. One of their scones can easily feed two people, the baked goods are gigantic. I recommend the white-chocolate scone, it was tender and delicious. Their cookies are huge but they are the crispy cookies not the chewy ones and my personal preference is chewy cookies. If you need a special dessert they craft beautiful tarts. I wish I lived closer to here. Hands down this is one of the best bakeries in the Lower Mainland. They use the best quality ingredients and "do not use treated or bleached flours, emulsifiers, dough improvers, shortening, margarine or other hydrogenated fats, genetically modified ingredients, peanuts, prepared doughs, mixes, preservatives, artificial flavouring or colouring."
My wife dragged me here because she tried it recently and was amazed at how good it is. I thought it will be like every other bakery in Metro Vancouver. Over priced garbage. Boy, was I wrong!!
This has got to be the BEST bakery in all of the Metro Vancouver area. I went in expecting to try a few things, but ended up trying nearly everything and spending a fortune! But it was worth it! The bread, the deserts, the snacks.. all unique and fresh tasting. As if your mom or grandma made them. High quality ingredients and caring about the product shows here. For example, I detest mutigrain bread. I have NEVER had a multigrain bread I liked... until I tried the one from this bakery, it was simply amazing. I actually enjoyed it and shared in eating at home with my wife. Now THAT says something! The prices are not bad, leaning towards a bit expensive, but once you try something, you understand, and you know you are paying for quality that you truly enjoy!
This bakery is a bit out of the way, but worth the time to travel there.
P.S. Try the croissants!! They are like the real ones you get in France! Simply awesome!
When bread and deserts are this good people find out even if the location is obscure. This family owned business is behind bushes and underneath a little strip mall on the corner of Crescent Beach Rd and 128th St. They do a large range of breads and rolls with organice locally ground grains. The colors shapes and textures are sometimes unusual only because the offer local milled and ground grains. Traditonal bacqettes wer crisps and seemed very authentic. The brioche was superb. The have meat tarts that use all spice or some such to give a distinct tang. I have tried about 7 itmes in 3 visits and have not been disappointed yet.
The servicde counter and cash register postion is terrible- they couldn't have positioned it in a worse spot. The serviuce is friendly but very slow.
The aromas and very visible kitchen areas mean it is not only transparent but its alluring.
