This place usually has papusa's on sale for $1 each. These are good. However we were looking forward to trying some of their other latin american dishes. The only thing we can ask the owners is why. Why were we served entrees that were tasting old, why was everything doused in grease, why were the entrees not as described by our server, why was there an absence of green anywhere in our plate, there was no cilantro or even lettuce to be found. The dominant taste was salt. There was no mention that the refried beans had pork or lard in it, but it tasted like it did. Everything was poorly prepared with the minimal ingredients. I could have prepared a better quality meal at home with a quick trip to the grocery store. No fresh salsa was offered, only watery bottled sauce. Very disappointing. They are located in a strange location on Scott Road, the driveway is a bit steep for some reason. The owners and servers were kind friendly people. However the food they served us, we would not serve to our worst enemies. I picked at my plate and couldn't even eat what was served to us. To the owners, there is a sore need for a good authentic Latin American restaurant in the area to rescue us from the franchises like Taco Time et al. Having spicy, flavourful healthy Latin American food that is a balanced meal and freshly prepared with an eye to lower fat and less lard use to reflect how we eat in Canada and includes a bit of salad would be wonderful. If I could have a margarita or beer with my meal it would be perfect.
