I gave their donairs a go and they are really tasty. The lady serving was very nice and informed me that the cheese was extra before adding it to my meal. The falafel weren't that good and I would stick to the donairs while eating here. Their Wednesday special is the mix platter with chicken, lamb and beef donair which is the best of the lot. There is no place to sit down and eat and the entire premises is not that clean. But as long as the food is good, I dont care that much.
I have to agree with the previous reviewer, the owner is an incredibly friendly guy with a good sense of humour. I've been coming here for years and hadn't been in for a few months when I cam in with my wife. He immediately recognized me and said, "So she's been keeping you too busy to come buy eh?"
The food is very good and always well made. Excellent flavourful meats for the donairs and lots of fresh vegetables wrapped inside. While there is limited seating and usually a bum wandering over from the door of the Mac's in the same strip mall the food makes the visit here worthwhile.
I enjoy coming here for many reasons; the food, the owner, and the ambiance.
1) The food: good selection of donairs such as beef, lamb, and chicken with the choice of regular or super (the super is huge!!!!) as well as different styles such as Hawaiian, Medeteranian, and Lebanese. Unlike most places the meat here is cooked right and nice and moist and crisp. A good cut for meat with hardly any fat which is great. There is also a veggie menu for those who don't eat meat. Fresh salads and baklava are made but come early to get the baklava as it runs out fast.
2) The owner: Very friendly fellow that can make the donair in a flash as it gets very busy at all times of the day. He has a very dry sense of humor when my friend asked to use the washroom he replied "five dollars cash" and we all though he was serious when in fact he was joking. If you come in frequently he gets to know who and what you order. His running gag with all of my friends and I is that he always asks if we want extra onions when we always ask for it without.
3) The ambiance: 104 ave and 148 street is in the prime area for sketchy character for Surrey and although the strip mall that is located in may feel like someone is going to sell drugs or rob you it's actually quite safe. There are high tables with bar type stools but there aren't a lot so if you see an empty table grab it quick. The line can be out the door sometimes but the majority of the people get their donair for take out.
If your ever in the neighborhood this way stop by, say hi, and gran a donair. It's definatley an experience.
