I have never had such a bad dinner in my past 20 years in Vancouver. The food is not fresh, oily and very poor quality, Food Court is WAY BETTER. The waiter serve us with used takeout chopstick (recycle??) ahuh!
We refused the chopstick and we asked for a fork but I am a Chinese.
From 7-8PM, we are the only table in the restaurant.
I honestly think this is less healthy than McDonalds. Then again I don't eat at Fast Foods joints at all... full of grease and salt = Chinese food... I do not recommend this place but then again this is Surrey... people here don't know quality. That is quite apparent. Thanks for reheating my wontons and other foods in the back... this place I believe has been shut down a couple times in the past for hygienic reasons.
Seldom have tasted such bad Chinese food. Service was ok though, ambience clean but restaurant empty at peak hour on a weekend. Loaded a lot of salty sauce, the rice was like semolina, some cheap stuff, veggies were old and tough. Watch out for fine print in their special offers. They should get a real cook, or at least try out their own cooking. I can't cook but yet can make up something way superior. My dog hesitated before eating what we took home, which is most of it.
Often drove by this place so decided on take out. The egg rolls were good but greasy. Sweet and sour spareribs were good. The rice, chowmein, and shrimp Foo Yung, were the worst we have ever had. We ordered from the family special menu. The rice was white with a few carrots and peas i believe. The chow mein was noodles only it seemed. The Foo Yung looked like a flat omelet with the sauce on the side. I was upset for days as we spent over forty dollars that we could have spent else where. The veggies were good but how could you go wrong with those.
I ordered from China King at the end of December, and had it delivered to y home. It was pod food for a good price. I had great service, and prompt deliver....
Because of the good experience I had the first time, I decided to order from them again.
That's where the positivity ended...
I ordered a rather large amount for my family. Over $120... I never received a confirmation call, so I called THEM just to see what was happening. I was told that my address was too far and that they weren't going to deliver to me. I told them I had ordered from them before and the delivery was no issue. The woman on the phone told me that she spoke to the manager and he said my address was too far, and that I in-fact did NOT order from them, and I must be mistaken... Right... I must have imagined it as I stood in my kitchen holding the menu I was given from the first time they delivered to me... I asked to speak to the manager, then she proceeds to tell me that she IS the manager and that they wouldn't deliver to me...
I called Just-eat.ca, the website I ordered from, and spoke to customer service. They called the restaurant on my behalf... I was then told that the managers were going back and forth with their driver about the deliver, a s that they wanted an extra $10 on top of the already mandatory $5 delivery charge, to deliver to me...
I live no more than 5 minutes down the road from this restaurant.....
All-in-all... Decent food, worst service in history. I was basically told that I imagined ordering from them, and treated like a complete idiot. I will never go back.
At 7:30pm , me and my friend came to chinaking dine in because we passed by and felt hungry. we are the only table there. we were suprised and oddness. The meal we ordered that wasnot hot enough.the meat and veggie wasnot very fresh. However,we didn't very enjoy the food, even though we felt hungry. At last when I paid the bill, I was feeling that I wasted money on the disquality food.
Even among whitewashed chinese food, this was beyond bad. I ordered delivery and while the girl on the phone was friendly, it seems that they threw all the day or more old food in containers and delivered it to me. Their "almond chicken" is just battered deep fried chicken, their chou-mein and fried rice have no seasoning and little taste. The onion cakes tasted days old. The food was "dry" i.e. how noodles are when they have been sitting around for a while and soaked up all the oil. Do NOT eat here, you will regret it. I am usually pretty understanding, and I've had a lot of authentic and whitewashed chinese food, but this was certainly the worst I've ever had.
Very pleased with the fresh, international DELICIOUS entrees and appetizers. I had fish and friend had multiple tapas, both dynamite. Service was exceptionally friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable. My friend was in town from the east coast, and probably went back recommending Bin for the food, service and nice looking waitresses (lol).
I can't believe all these reviews on here! Before I went to China King, I read these, and I decided to give it a try.
The food came out so quickly, and the servers were very friendly. They were always smiling and happy to help me.
I ate the food, and guess what? I couldn't believe how good it was! From all these reviews, I excepted stale, oily food. But what I got was something so delicious. You could tell that these people really cared about the customer.
Also, when I went in , it was a typical tuesday evening but they were sooo busy! I sat in one of the booths, and all of the booths were full except for maybe one or two!
Even though they were pretty busy, the waitresses kept us as their priority. I felt that these restaurant doesn't deserve to be criticized so much. Their food was extremely well priced, and the portions well HUGE! And trust me, I eat a fair amount. The food had so much flavour, was very hot, and was served like it came from a gourmet restaurant. ( Which it probably is )
I'm sorry for this huge post, but I felt that what these people said was untrue. I've been to China King manymany times, for take out, as well as dine in.
So overall , I don't think you should just listen to those people , but give China King a try, see for yourself so how amazing they are!
Oh, also, since ambiance is on the rating chart as well , I just want to say that China King's ambiance was amazing! The place was clean, cozy, and very warm. I loved the interior design and all the ancient chinese paintings on there. Not only does China King look very Chinese , but also incredibly modern and homey.
We live right by this restuarant and we've ordered take out from there a few times and I have to say we have stopped ordering from there because of the repeated overpriced bland food.
Food: Some of the dishes are okay on the menu but most are not your standard quality you would expect. I'm not a big fan of sweet n' sour but I can enjoy it if it is done well. This place just pours the sauce out of a jar and puts it on the meat. There's no pineapple or veggies in the dish. The Ma Po Tofu also had some serious funky spices in it too and I've eaten a lot of different versions and this one was not a hit! Another vegetarian tofu dish we had was way way too salty.
Value: I don't know what it is but we just moved from New Westminster where there were a couple of great Chinese restaurants and they were very reasonably priced. I don't know why in Surrey the Chinese food out this way is sooooo expensive. Maybe it's just the ones in this Fleetwood area but it's ridiculous.
Service: On 2 occasions when we went to go pick up our food, it wasn't even close to being ready. It was like they hadn't even started on it and had to wait double the time.
I wouldn't recommend this restuarant at all.
I were introduced and imppressed by the improvements and changes recently,
I tend to eat healthier now and than, and ignore the price.
anyhow, I'm glad they finally changed all the chicken for my favorate chicken fried rice to breast meat.
I know in the past they don't have breast meat for a lot of things, now even chicken chop suey is changed to breast meat. good job ! (lol, now i don't have to pay extra for breast meat subsitution !ya~)
I can tell evevryone of them are proud to the most recent change, and they also advice me to try out new traditional chinese dishes on weekend lunch time (they invited a special chef for weekend lunch only maybe?!). I'm so excited for there new traditional chinese food, if its good, i don't have to drive out to burnaby !!
I always say you get what you pay for and in this case it's true! If you want cheap chinese food this is the place to go, but don't expect the quality or what you get to be that great either! The foods not terrible by any means, just cheaply made! The deep fried won ton is YUMMY!!! The service is ok inside and for pick up as well!
Terrible Chinese food!!!. We asked for authentic dishes and were assured that is what we would get, but when the dishes came it was anything but authentic. Instead it was more like the food court style of Chinese dishes. I would never go back and would not recommend it to others. In times when there is so much competition on the market, I am surprised that this restaurant is still in business, though, the last I heard it is for sale.
I read these reviews before going in (preplanned family get together) and I dreaded going, but I'd have to say, it wasn't nearly half as bad!
Tasted the same as Hons, staple chinese food.
Service could be better, but there were quite a few tables being waited on, so it was expected (I've waitered at chinese restaurants for 5 years, I know not to expect instantaneous meals!)
Chopsticks were wooden, but definitely not of the "take out" kind. Looks exactly like the chopsticks I used at home.
Guess it depends on how picky you are...
I've been to many worse restaurants that were much more overpriced
