Dashed expectations

I was quite excited to try this Jamaican place. It's a unique place in that they wholesale to and supply other Carribean restaurants in the Lower Mainland. Chances are that you've eaten one of their patties without knowing it. At their retail/take-out place you can even buy frozen patties to take home. They also bake some traditional Jamaican breads and goodies. I went to try the jerk chicken. The spicing on the chicken was nice and the jerk bbq sauce was tasty. The rice and peas were a huge tasty portion. The few slices of tomato and cucumber garnish was boring. What irked me was the price for this meal.... for ONE quarter chicken leg and thigh it was almost $13. As this place isn't even a proper restaurant it's more of a take-away place. Nando's has a double quarter chicken leg and thigh meal with one side for under $10. I think I had the misfortune of ordering the worst things from their menu. I also ordered a chicken and potato roti. The shell was dry but tasty. The filling inside was quite dry. Unfortunately the chicken was bone-in. This was terrible because neither the menu nor the cashier mentioned this to me when I ordered it. It was so hard to eat. I really do not recommend the chicken curry roti. They have some unique fish dishes but at the moment I am not brave enough to try these. If I do return I will just buy the jerk chicken by the pound. Do I recommend this place? Yes because Vancouver has so few Jamaican restaurants. Just be wary of what you order and don't go in with too many expectations. Also I love trying hot sauces and there was none when I opened my order at home so be sure to ask for some.

Also what irked me was that the signage on the industrial complex buildings listing names this business as a greek bakery or something... it's actually hard to find the place.
