Part of the Bubble World Franchise. Restaurant setting serving bubble tea and multitudes of specialty hot/cold drinks. Also serves food and tapas style plates.
Went here with the family the other day for a dinner. The restaurant was just over half full and the music was loud techno modern top 40. A bit too loud as it is hard to converse at times. Ordered the Tawainese deep fried pork chops, 3 sauce chicken, beef brisket with vegetables and the sitr fried lamb with garlic, onions and ginger. The food tasted good but the portion size could have been bigger and the cut of meat could have been better in the 3 sauce chicken. The pieces they used would be the part of chicken that I would usually discard. The beef brisket with vegetables only had 6 piesces of bite size beef. Tasted very good but need more meat. The sides dishes that comes with these meals was cut up cerlery in a dressing and corn nibbits with pieces of ham. The side dishes tasted ok but I would not specially order them if they did not come free witht the meal. All the dishes came with steam white rice. If I had not tried other type of Tawaines bubble tea restaurant I would come back, but there are other that warrant my business more.
This Bubble World is located in a huge plaza where T&T is. They have lots of parking.
Since I moved to Coquitlam, I don't know anywhere else in my area that serves good BBT & food. Pearl Castle in PoCo is terrible. So I was glad that they have Bubble World in Surrey which is only 10min drive away.
Their BBTs & food are good and up to standard. The drinks were surprisingly bigger than Burnaby's location.
You can't expect good service at the BBT place so I just rate it mediocre. If you need anything, just ask for it. Don't expect them to provide extra service and smile at you.
A good place to hang out in a town without many other choices late at night. Bubbleworld is always packed and lively. They don't have a lot of "real fruit" based drinks but the ones like kiwi and strawberry that they do have are really good. Drink portions for eat-in are huge so you're getting your money's worth.
Food isn't great. In fact, it's far from great, but their drink menu and being open til 2am makes up for it.
Recommended: Lychee bubble tea and the kiwi slush with bubbles
Been to a couple of the Bubble Worlds but never tried this one out in Surrey before nor have i ever tried any of the eats.
Food: had the deep fried chicken leg lunch combo that came w/ a bbtea drink, meatless springroll, chilled veggie bowl, n fruit. very good deal for the price. in my opinion there was a bit too much batter, but that's easy to fix.
Service: basic give you your menus, take your order, serve your food, give you bill, and clean off table. it's a bbtea house, what do u expect?!
Ambiance: ok for lunch i guess. kinda wierd to see an "older" crowd at a bbtea house tho. this girl seated at a table infront of me took off her shoes and had her feet on the seat. they should've said something about that. didn't realize that it was necessary in any venue to require putting up "keep your stinking shoes on" signs. def disturbing, but atleast i was finished eating and about to lv...
Overall: every bubble world i go to is fairly good. it's a little out of my ways but if i'm in the neighborhood and have a craving i'd come by again for food or drinks.
I just started working in surrey and came here with some of my co-workers after work. I've been to the kingsway location by metrotown where I live and don't go there anymore, the service there sucks! The servers there are just downright rude. The service here is not bad, not great but not rude like kingsway. The bubble tea is pretty good although i still think a bit overpriced. We actually tried the food today and it was pretty good and the prices were good too. My friend had the spicey black bean chicken on rice and I had the salty peppery chicken on rice, I think they were $6.95 each and it was a good size portion as well. Ambience was pretty plain,
Recommended. Their take-out counter just inside their entrance offers speedy service. The servers are efficient, and don't have attitude. My favorite BBT here is the papaya slush, it's flavourful even with half sugar. I like that they always double check if you want milk, because I hate milk but sometimes forget to ask for no milk. For eat-in the BBT is served in huge glasses and there are combo's for BBT and food. They are very popular and always busy.
The location is great. It's one of the closer places to drop by for bubble tea. But, everytime I go here, I end up with a stomachache.
The bubble tea is way too sweet here, having tried taro, pudding and passion fruit. The food is decent, and they give you a good portion, so no complaints there.
The crowd is a bit weird, how there are lots of families and older aged people. Maybe it's cause T&T's nearby. For bubble tea, I would rather just go to Pearl Fever. Never went back ever since those 3 visits gave me stomachaches everytime.
Food: Went here for a quick bite to eat so I ordered the fried chicken on rice special and was just expecting a typical run of the mill piece of chicken with rice but I was wrong... This thing that cost only 8.50 came with a huge piece of chicken deep fried (looked like 2-3 pieces), a small bowl of veggies, 2 spring rolls, 2 pieces of fruit and a large bubble tea. Bubble tea was awesome (strawberry green tea), the spring rolls and veggies were ok. The chicken was good but needed more sauce or a dipping sauce on the side. All in all, it was pretty good. It was busy on a Friday afternoon as many parents came in with their children for lunch and they all had huge bowls of noodles that came with bubble tea and they all seemed to enjoy it.
Service: Average - nothing special. Waitress never came to check if food was ok or anything which is expected of a bubble tea house. When it became very busy, there was no way she could have attended to us even if we did have a problem.
Ambiance: Just your typical bubble tea house. Nothing outstanding. You def. don't come here for the ambiance. And what's with the rule about not being allowed to play cards or checkers inside??!? I mean, it's a bubble tea house!! That's what people come to bubble tea houses for - drinking bubble tea and playing cards/checkers!! Sheesh... hopefully they aren't really strict about it.
Overall: If you come check out this place, remember to check out the specials cuz they're not half bad. I might go back if I'm ever in the area and need a quick/cheap bite to eat.
Mmm, Bubble World. Why did I take so long to visit? (Right -- T&T food court. Also solid, by the way, but going a bit downhill.)
I've eaten here twice. Both times the taro bubble tea was incredible, and it's really what brings their food rating up to a 4. It's ultra creamy, perfectly sweetened, and by far the best bubble tea I've ever had. The price is average at $3.95 per drink.
Cuisine is typical Taiwanese cafe fare. I agree with other reviewers that the deep fried goodies are amazing. Sadly, their range of noodles are a bit lacking. The same noodles are used in the wonton noodle soup, the beef noodle soup, and the meat and tofu sauce noodle dish. They're also best suited to the beef noodle soup. On the plus side, they've got six pages of drinks as well as shaved ice, so it's an excellent hang-out for summer.
The ambiance is also typical. It's basically the Asia Top 40 all the time - not that I'm complaining. The place is definitely suited towards the younger Asian crowd, although I have seen families and middle-aged business(?) men dine there.
tl;dr: Bubble tea is outstanding. Typical trendy Taiwanese cafe. Very reasonable prices. Definitely worth a revisit.
Food: Love their food. I usually come in to order some of their deep fried appetizers and their bubble teas. Fried rice selection is also good (Kimchi fried rice). They make the best squid tentacles! Sometimes it is a bit bland though, but not inconsistent enough to stop me from going there! The pearls for their bbt are perfect, not too mushy or sweet.
Service: I don't usually eat-in here, but their take-out service is decent and friendly.
You'd like this place if you're hard of hearing. On top of the "din over the din", they blast loud Asian pop music. Lots of young people, place is lively, a bit too much so. Food is excellent, very good value. Always busy, people lining up and all that. Service is so-so, waitresses all have dyed hair and are sweet but are very rushed due to the volume.
They open till 1 am they tell me. No old bills accepted it says outside so I'm not bringing my next door neighbour here any time soon...
It's an okay place to hang out. My friends and I go there quite frequently to eat dinner when we're bored. Don't expect the waitresses to be incredibly friendly. Some of them are nice, and some of them are extremely rude. I usually never tip at this restaurant either based on the service. The food is okay, it tastes good if you want something simple and cheap - after all, you get what you paid for. The prices are decent and affordable, the meal size is pretty big for the price that you pay for. The ambiance is good. The restaurant is usually packed but the longest I've waited for a table was 15 minutes. I recommend this restaurant if you're looking for something simple, fast and cheap, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who expect five star service. You won't get it.
Went to this place last Monday. Warning: Never order the Fishballs under the Deep Fried section as it is a complete joke. $4.25 will give you 5 pcs of fishballs, that''s it. Now if you buy the Taiwanese fried porkchop for example, that only costs $5.95 or something. Go figure.
Service is also bad. Try not to come during a busy hour because you will not get good service at all. I try not to blame the 2 servers because it is not their fault that the owner would not add an extra help.
We probably will not come back, Bubble 88 is better.
I have no comment about their bubble tea because I don't like that kind of drink. But I've been there several times for their food, especially the deep fried fish meal special. It's good deal spending few dollars to get a good portion of the delicious food: 3 large pieces of fried fish, a small appetizer and one bowl of rice.
The taste of fried fish was really good, coating batter so crispy and fish meat so soft and fresh. I belive it's second to none in town. There was nothing to challenge about except no dip sauce for the fried stuff.
I understand all bubbletea places will be loud, but this one is a mess. I suggest a take-out. And remember, it is owned by Chinese, thus you will need to bring cash!
ps. They will not allow you to play any games inside, such as cards or anything along that line.
Some days this place is as busy as it can be with take out and eat in traffic, surprisingly I have not ever had to wait more than 5-10 minutes for a table. Good bubble tea with wide selections of flavor. A variety of Taiwanese food, from small appetizers to set meals. Speed of service is normal - as expected. And value is reasonable - with a set meal that will set you back 6-8 dollars and Bubble tea ranging from 2-5 dollars depending on what you order.
The only caveat is I would not recommend to anyone who wishes a quiet dining experience as this restaurant may get a little noisy with music and (when packed), everyone speaking at the same time.
Tasty Tasty Tasty!!! Love their pearls in the drinks and most of their drinks tasted pretty good! Much better than the one inside the T&T Supermarket food court. Good Price & Good Quality! I always ordered over the phone for myself and my coworkers, so that I could escape from waiting!
Foods were ok........I rather to pick something up from the T&T food court as there are more choices compare than bubble world. =P
I personally come to this place with my friends pretty often, its a nice place to chill at night when theres nothing else to do. Bubble tea and food is pretty decent, like every other typical bubble tea restaurant.
There ain't anything too special about this place, other than the fact that its one of the only places that's open late.
Service is horrible though. I've had issues with the servers there every single time that quite often, I don't even bother leaving any tips behind. They need to learn how to respect customers and actually smile at them. I'm not saying this is a high class restaurant that needs a five star customer service, but at least do more than just throwing stuff on people's tables and walk away, or simply even ignore customers and give evil looks. BE NICE!
Okay, so I've been there several times, but I guess I will stop going there.
In general, their service is generally OKAY. One of the waitresses gives really bad service. I went in and the restaurant wasn't so busy. She was standing at the counter and facing inside of the bar, and did not even turn to me and ask what I'd like. Instead, I had to ask her myself. She gave me a really unfriendly look. I don't know what's gotten into her!
Their food is okay, but they seem to gradually decrease the portion of food per dish, and raise their price recently?
I got to mention one thing that they don't seem to wash their table cleaning cloth that often. I always see them wipe their tables with the same cloth over and over again. When they finish, they just place it right back on their counter table (without even washing it). Yuk! I don't know if anyone of you have noticed it, but we all know how dirty that is.
Definately well known enough to have a place in Surrey and still be so busy. As one would expect, basic fun, bubblely atmosphere. Pretty basic, no frills stuff. Its one of the better options in Surrey whenever I'm visiting my friends. They've got to cut back on that sweet sugar of theirs though. Sometimes asking for half sweet isn't even enough. Their food is pretty decent if you're okay with the quick and simple MSG stuff.
