Bubble 88 serves Taiwanese and Chinese cuisine along with an assortment of bubble tea.
It only took once to get me hooked on Bubble 88. There are not too many late night bubble tea places that also serve food in Surrey, so when my bf and I drove by Bubble 88, we had to try it. Since then, we have been back very frequently (sometimes twice per week).
The food is your standard Taiwanese fare with an assortment of snacks and set meals to accompany a large drink selection. I particularly like the beef noodle soup, and spicy wontons. For drinks, I recommend the fresh taro milk and milk tea with pudding jello (try it hot!).
What sets Bubble 88 apart is the service - it is excellent. Servers speak perfect English and Mandarin. They're well versed and can answer any questions regarding the menu. My parents, who are super picky people, bombarded the server with both relevant and irrelevant questions - all which were answered professionally and patiently by the server. They always have enough staff to take care of their customers' needs, so I've never had to wait or look around to flag down a server even when the restaurant is packed. They also seem to genuinely like working there (which sounds silly, but let's just say their smiles and "thank yous" are a refreshing change of pace compared to another competing bubble tea chain, whose servers rarely greeted, thanked or in general, acknowledged me in their frazzled state during peak hours).
Would I recommend this place? Already have - to all my friends. In fact, even though I literally live across the street from another late night bubble tea chain restaurant (that will remain nameless), I prefer to drive to dine at Bubble 88 instead.
