Sunday lunch, rainy day on King George Highway. We have noticed this pub where an Earl's was, several years ago. What the hay, let's try it...
Walked into a raucous brunch-time crowd of NFL football fans. At least four games on the various screens around the place. It was a great feeling, very alive, very energetic. A few hangovers being nursed with the breakfast specials, but whatever... The crowd seemed happy.
Service was absolutely amazing. Our server was Pearl, and she was right there any time we needed her. Friendly, upbeat, efficient, and did that young lady EVER motor... speed plus!
The Other Half ordered beef gyros with caesar salad. I ordered steak (rare) and eggs with rye toast. That's where things started to go downhill...
The food came in good time, and we tucked in. Eggs and toast were perfect, the steak was overcooked and tough. The OH's beef gyros was dry and chewy, the salad nothing special.
We enjoyed the pub atmosphere and the service was excellent. The food, unfortunately, was not outstanding.
We would go back for the "vibe", but the food needs work.
If your looking for a good sports bar to drink a few beers and watch a football or hockey game at, this is the place to go, but be prepared to go early because the place gets packed on game day/night. As to everything else, its leaves something to be desired.
Me and my boyfriend used to go to this bar every Sunday early afternoon for a breakfast (they had excellent eggs benny) and a few cocktails. It was always a safe bet and the waitresses already knew what we were going to order when we came in. We would also go for dinner and drinks from time to time and never had any complaints. Then all of a sudden they took they eggs benny off the menu so we started going to the ABC Country across the parking lot. We still continued to go for dinner once in awhile but we noticed that the food was going downhill. Then one night we went in for dinner and I ordered a chicken casear wrap and a couple of cocktails. As I took my first bite out of the wrap there was a weird taste. I had ordered this many times before but for some reason it tasted different. I opened it up and there was chipolte mayo spread on the wrap. Now I don't mind chipolte mayo but not a this type of wrap and no where on the menu did it say it was now in the wrap. I usually order double shots in my cocktails when I go for dinner and drinks so I know how strong it should be. The bartender was watering down the drinks.
For me bad food and watered down drinks definitely took this pub off my list of places to go.
I stop by there a few times a month. Mostly for the food deals. When they have a good chef at the helm most items go down great. Great half price appys from 3 to 6 pm and also have other specials like Crab Wednesdays and fish and chip Tuesdays. The Red Thai Curry wings are my favorite. The bartenders are a likable bunch and the sevice at the tables is usually pretty good. Just don't come in after a big game has started or you'll be hard pressed to get a good seat. One of my favorite pubs in Surrey.
After checking out several of the local pubs having just moved into the area, I was most impressed with the service and food at Brewsters, Not only were the crab legs outstanding on wednesdays, but the service was incredibly fast and freindly, We checked it out again for Sunday breakfast which was very good, not many places you get a ribeye for steak & eggs for $9, again service very freindly and atmosphere was electric, lots of nfl fans.
Having checked out the other local pubs and finding them not very freindly or impressive, this is the place for great food and service
Vera's Burger is still the best, but the Brewster's Signature Burger is a very close 2nd. Absolutely delicious.
However, pickup is probably the best way to go. The pub itself is no jewel, and the service was very poor. Most of their menu is pretty sad as well, but the burger is the one reason to stop in.
