We also had a Groupon, it's always good to use one your first time visiting somewhere.
We walked in to an empty restaurant on a Friday night around 6:30 and thought we may have made a mistake. We were pleasantly surprised, the restaurant was small but nice. We started with a grilled caesar salad, which we thought was odd but found it to be very good. We both had the New York Strip Loin with crusted potatoes, both were also very good. The New York cheesecake was beautiful. The entertainment was just one guy, his name is Jim Foster, he was good enough that my wife bought his C.D. We both ordered another drink just to sit and watch him some more. we both agreed it was a very nice evening and both recommend it. I gave a 4 star only because I rarely call anything incredible, which on this site is a 5 Star.
This place is a hidden gem in Surrey. My husband and I checked it our for the first time last night with a Groupon. The food was excellent with many items made in house and most items locally sourced. Even their beer and wine list was exclusively local to BC, mainly the lower mainland. Items were great quality and the portion sizes were pretty good for the size. The interior looks really neat, not something you expect to find in Surrey at all. Our server seemed inexperienced and almost awkward/uncomfortable but it wasn't awful service. This place definitely could have been downtown. If you want a younger place to go with friends or even on a date check this place out! You won't be disappointed!
Couldn't agree more with the other reviewer.
Enjoyed a wonderful night at the Bistro last friday. So happy to have such a great room so close to my home to enjoy great food and amazing performers. Hat's off to restaurant for bringing in very high quality musicians to compliment this establishment. Friday was Neil Harnett with special guest, and very local boy, Steve Gidora on mandolin. They were amazing, especially playing Neil's original material. I get out and see a lot of live music and mostly have to travel downtown. To be able to enjoy such a high caliber of music so close to home (staggering distance) is one thing but to do so enjoying fine French Cuisine with lots of local micro beer on tap puts it over the top. Overall value isn't just the food, local beer and wine which is really great but to combine this with the entertainment takes it a step up for the Newton area and Surrey in general. We shared and enjoyed a seared Ahi tuna salad, Tourtiere pie Quebec style and tempura prawns.
