Went to baseline for quick lunch on saturday afternoon. The place was not busy as there was only a soccer game on. My friend ordered the mushroom cheese burger and I ordered the chicken burger and both were very good. The fries were just ok and did not like them. The price was right and the service was not bad. The place was not packed. If i need a quick lunch then maybe visit again.
Because no one notices you there. I've learned to just go right to the bar and order a beer. Then I don't have to worry about feeling bad for not wanting to leave a tip for the lack of sevice at the tables. Food is so so and I haven't ordered any in some time. Also game night brings in lots of younger sport fans and the service gets even worse.
my wife and i watch alot of sporting events at baselines.
Being just the two of us there is rarely a problem getting a good seat.
But on numerous occasions i,ve noticed quite a few of the prime tables with good sightlines of the TV,s Reserved. So why is it that when i called well in advance to reserve a table for six of us Iam told we dont take reservations.
I,ve now noticed most of these tables are reserved for the staffs personel friends. What about trying to establish a good clientel base?or a first come first serve bases?
The place itself is quite nice inside. Lots of TV's, dark wood, and comfortable boothes.
The ambience is ruined however, by the type of the clientelle - 19 to 24 yearolds wearing fake christian audigier ordering jugs of Budweiser.
This is made worse by the servers. Most of them seem to think their looks make up for their bad service - it doesn't.
The food is actually decent for a pub, however the last two times I've visited my food has arrived cold.
My brother and I went here for a plate of afternoon nachos, there were only six people in the place so we thought we'd get great service or so we thought. There were two waitresses working in there and it took forever for one of them to aknowledge that we we even there.
The more younger looking waitress was serving the other table on hand and foot as they were ordering what seemed like the pub's entire stock of beer!!!! We thought that was the only way to get better service, order booze instead of coffee and iced tea. Who drinks that much at 11:30 am?
The nachos came in a nice presentation but the cheese was cold and the middle of the pile was not melted, we were never asked how the food and was snubbed any kind of refill.
Seems like this place caters to the people who have serous drinking problems and snub those who order soft drinks.
I'll be back alright, with a loud group of friends who are jerks that don't tip
Overall, this is a decent place. The food is pretty good for pub food. Decent food value.
Just like other people have commented, the service is questionable. Depending on the server, your experience may be quite frustrating...
My biggest complaint about this person is... I think some servers/bartenders are trying to scam customers out of the correct amount of change.
On 2 SEPARATE occasions in the same night, 1 server & 1 bartender tried to short-change my friend & i. Both times we ordered a beer from the bar. First time, she gave change for a $10 bill even though my friend paid with a $20 bill. When my friend went back to tell the server, she promptly gave change for a $20 bill. Second time, I paid for a beer with a $10 bill, but she gave me change for a $5 bill. When I told the bartender about this she gave me the correct change, but with quite a bit of attitude.
Also, the ease to which they gave us the correct change after we told them seemed to indicate to me that they got busted and didn't want to create a scene. Maybe they thought we were drunk and wouldn't notice???
In conclusion, MAKE SURE YOU COUNT YOUR CHANGE AT THIS PLACE!!!!
I am visiting from Montreal, and have been more or less worked and travelled all over this land, as far west as Victoria to most recently as far east as Halifax. I enjoy pubbing on my own, as being a photographer and artist, quality time for me alone means big time to me. That being said, my review may conflict with those who dine as a bunch and expects a little more than this.
To me, a pub is like most typical pubs in UK, (i lived there too, yes), it is a place where people don't bother you, and the waitresses and bartender keeps you to mind your own business, until you ask for another.
This is my kind of pub. I am not interested in a waitress coming to me every now and then to ask if I want another pint of Guinness or whatnot. If I want more, I'd wave.
For this reason, I give Baseline Pub a good Solid, thumbs up. The wings , if I am not mistaken , is cheaper on sunday. The waitresses are young, not spoilt brats or anything that; they are lovely sweet girls who served me with enough class and poise. They're fine looking girls, and the Guinness is good.
I could expect more, for being one who has travelled all over the land and more places in UK, but you know what? We go to the pub for a quiet retreat, even when the kids are screaming and watching your other type of football, lol. As I said, the Guinness and hot wings are good enough, and I do go back there to see the lovely gals. You do the same if you like to be left alone with just your wings and stout. Cheers !
With only 5 people at the bar it still took me over 30 minutes to get a beer. I was with a blondie but expect that a bar has some nice looking women in it - even the waitress was not good here. The beer was cold though! I may have just been there on a bad night but the service was just horrible. The place was boring and there were no women to look at when not looking at my own.
Went to Baselines Sports bar late Friday after the sports show in Abbotsford and was really surprised. Ordered the cheddar and mushroom burger and wasn't expecting much as it was late. It was really really good. Standard pub food but has gotten quite tasty since my last visit 4 months ago. It was a mixed crowd but the waitresses were very friendly, working hard and overall the service was pretty good. If you went here in the past and weren't happy its worth trying it again.
My friend and I love Baselines in Langley so we decided to go to the Baselines in Surrey since we live about 5 minutes away from the place. After parking, we go to the door to be greeted with two drunken men, arguing. We entered the place and sat at a near booth. The place wasn't packed, yet the server took 5 minutes to greet us and another 7 minutes to take our orders. We simply ordered the spinach dip and some drinks. The dip wasn't great; I can't really complain about a dip. However, the server never did a checkback which was frustrating because my friend and I wanted another round of drinks and needed napkins. We waited, and the next thing we know, we hear a loud thud. Turns out two men were fighting, and one was knocked out on the floor. No cops were called; everyone was just yelling and some people were still eating and drinking as if nothing happened. The service continued to declined, and everyone let the attacker run freely without talking to the police. One server tried to wake up the unconscious man, made him sit him and didn't call the ambulance.
The worst part, the fighters seem to be regulars at the pub, since all employees were screaming their names.
The servers were dreadful and irresponsible. The dip was alright; I had better. The ambiance may be okay for regulars, since everyone seemed to know eachother's names. However, this truly was the most horrible experience I've had a restaurant EVER.
I'll stick to Baselines in Langley, thank you.
Been here a couple of times. Wings are pretty good. Not too sure if they still have the cheap wings every day the Canucks play! Had their 2 dollar Sunday breakfast(11am-1pm)the morning the Men won the Gold hockey game and it was a steal at the price(2 Eggs/2 Bacon/Hashbrowns/Toast). Service is on the slow side but NOT painfully slow. The waitresses seem like they are barely old enough to work in a pub so you end up getting eye candy and not that great of service. The flat panel TV's over the bar should be replaced as their picture quality is crap compared to the other TV's in the joint.
A few friends and I went to the Pub to watch the game and have some food and drinks. We were all amaized with everything, it was very busy but every seat had an great view of big awsome TV. The food came out fast and great. The servers were so good we never wanted to leave, they didn't stop helping us till we left the doors. With the times being so tuff right now its nice to know you can get a great burger for under $7 and a cold beer for under $5. The ambiance was so much fun, everyone was cheering and just their to have a good time. I definately reccommend it and will be back, and not just to watch the game.
We were staying at the adjoining hotel, so we hoped that the pub would be as great as it was convenient. What a dissapointment! Although the establishment is staffed with attractive staff it took more than 10 minutes to receive an aknowledment of our presence, and then more time to get drinks. We were ready to leave at that point. We ordered at last a easy burger and chicken. Upon my request, the server explained that the kitchen was overwhelmed and that the manager which I enquired about, was in the kitchen trying to help. The food at last arrived: overdone! The cost, too much for substandard fare. I will never return or refer this restaurant. The venue seems to be an out of control establishment serving drinks to young crowds. This is a meeting place for pre-clubing young people.
This place has been trying to establish itself after a string of pubs have come and gone in the same location. They had a good idea, two for one appys between 4 and 6pm. Well, they got me, I finally convinced my wife to come out...it had been really good when I stopped by after work. We order and all of a sudden they've cut the portions down to nothing. Even at two for one it was a burn! Too bad because we would have stayed and spent way to much money until closing time but we had to leave because we were both starving. It wouldn't have been a problem if they simply removed the 2 for 1 offer and we would have paid for 2, but after you wait, and they bring you half a plate, you just get angry and leave.
I wish I didn't have to write this, this area needs a good spot.
I've only lived here for 6 months and already i know that that building has gone through some different owners and names. If your going to make it as a resteraunt, you gotta get rid of those servers and start buuilding some decsent clientelle. Honestly, at 11:30, the servers were yelling at us "get lost, get out of here". and when there was problems with my debit""(quote unquote), I was the one to blame, so i had to settle cash, she never came back with the change at all either. What a dissappointment. You guys got a lot of potential, start by getting some new server staff.
The service was great! The girls were HOT! And the food was good... This is the place to watch the big game and have fun! if your one of those people that sit around and don't know how to have a good time don't waste your time!!! I cant wait to go back and have a fun night!
Baseline is the Pub for me!
I found this pub very comfortable and enjoyed my experiences there.Yes the waitresses, well some could be more on the ball. The food is great I have eaten there many times.Monday night football is alot of fun. They haven't been open all that long but given time I think will work out the gliches and become one of the better neighbourhood pubs out there.I will continue to visit. And if you get a chance try the chicken strips with teryaki sauce.
