Went here with the better half and the kids. They just finished serving a large party (probably from a wedding) that took up over half of the restaurant. The waitress was attentative and was able to get us a couple of high chairs for the kids. We ordered the salad roll for starter and that was large and delicious. Just wished we had a tad more peanut sauce. Then I ordered the large house special pho and my better half ordered the regular well done beef flank in pho and we also ordered the fried beef with rice noodles for the kids. The pho came out hot and tasty. The large was quite a bit of food. I found the broth done well and plentiful as I am a huge eater. The beef with rice noodles was also done very well. The deocr was updated and it looks great especially for a pho restaurant. Much better than it was before. I was very impressed with the updates, service and most of all the food. Will patronized again in the near future.
I had been here before and had decent soup before.I noticed a change in the decor and asked the waitress if they were under new management and she said'Sit anywhere'...I was given my order of beef stew with the wrong noodles and the broth was just horrible! It had a terrible gritty texture and was too salty.I was really disapointed and will not be going back here again. The service was very typical for a Vietnamiese Restaurant...The waitress wasn't friendly...like it would be too much to be polite or crack a smile.I'm a really good tipper but if a server is not going to make any effort to be pleasant they can just get what they deserve.
I always come back for the bun bo hue soup! One of the best I've ever had.The broth is superb! Service is not bad. The waitresses are polite. The ambiance is as good as can be for a small Vietnamese restaurant. It's nice & clean. Try an avocado milkshake! It's goooood!
This small vietnamese restaurant is a great spot for Pho when in the area. The soup is delicious and always comes out piping hot. The rest of their menu is great too. Reasonably priced, not greasy, fresh and flavourful.
As for service it tends to be a little slow, but the food comes out fairly fast from the kitchen, you usually seat yourself and wait for a menu but they always bring out tea as soon as you sit down. The restaurant is generally busy for lunch and ealry dinner. The room is pretty bare and sometimes cold but you can't expect a whole lot.. i'll take great food over a crappy room anyday. It's fairly clean but don't make a point of inspecting the place, washrooms are usuable but again, in and out.
Overall a great spot for Pho and other vietanmese when in the neighborhood. We've been repeat customers and would recommend this place
I think the food actually deserves 3.5 stars... The food is lighter tasting, on the home-style side which means less msg and quite freshly-made. Pho was solid with a great lighter tasting soup base, but the "tai" (rare meat) wasn't sliced thinly enough making it a little chewy. I was impressed by their sugar cane shrimp -- biggest I've seen in any viet restaurant and made by hand it seems, not from frozen. Good steamed rice rolls but salad rolls had pork that was sliced way too thinly for me to feel satisfied.
Ambiance is better than most pho places in Surrey. Newer floors, fairly clean with wrapped, disposable chopsticks. The location is good and I felt safe leaving my car in the plaza's parking lot.
Value: not bad... prices on their menu is similiar to other pho places which means you will get full for under $10 unless you are ordering combos for a couple bucks more =)
So after hearing about this place from a coworker I decided to take a couple of friends with me to try out the Pho at Noodle Island. Inside the restaurant looks like the typical Pho place, normal seating nothing outstanding. All three of us ordered the same thing Tai Nam Ve Don ( rare steak, well done brisket, and crunchy flank in rice noodle soup ), with spicy broth, I also ordered fresh lemon juice and soda water to drink. The food looked promising however the broth was flavorless, noodles were nicely done, not over cooked, but I could not get over the lack of flavor. They gave us a sweet garlic sauce that I guess was supposed to go with the Pho. I had to ask for jalapenos and hoisin sauce, my friend had to add sauce to every bite just to make it taste like anything. My lemon soda was so loaded with sugar that I could not drink more then my very first sip, I convinced my friend to try a sip he compared it to drinking liquid sweet and low. I will not be back, and I do not recommend the Pho at Noodle Island.
We use to dine there very often, sometimes as much as once to twice a week. From what I could remember the food had always been very delicious and the place very clean and nice ambiance. However, we haven't been back for a very long time due to the poor service. The service varies from friendly to sometimes being down-right rude. One time my family and I were waiting to be seated, the server saw us but totally ignored us even though there were tables available. We decided to sit down and wait. We waited for over 10 minutes, no hello, no I'll be there, so we left and have never been back. On other occasions prior to this, we never even got a hello or friendly smile. It's too bad, but this use to be a good place and some of the servers are friendly, but there is one in particular that is rude.
We live in the area and I'm so glad this restuarant is here.
Food: The food is always good when we order from here. The combos are large and come with great large skewers of meat. Their Pho is simple and very tasty.
Service: I'm always greeted with a great big smile when I go in there. The owner is very friendly and pleasant.
Value: Very reasonably priced for what you get. The combos are large and range from about $10-15.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
