Essence of India is an Indian restaurant in Garibaldi Highlands. Offering traditional Indian delights, prepared in authentic style in a casual, comfortable setting. All items served mild unless requested to be more spicy!
I love Indian food and often go to Vancouver to have my fix, I was glad to see a local restaurant open again after many years of not having one in Squamish. However, I have had take out here twice and both times was disappointed, not just in the quality, but the quantity was small. I found the butter chicken far better at Pepe and Gringo's next door. If you are looking for something other than Butter Chicken or Vindaloo, then try Essence of India, otherwise you'd be happier with Pepe's Indian dishes.
We stopped off on our way back from Whistler, the service was outstanding, the food unbelievable, it was definetly the best I have ever had, the Tandoori ribs were out of this world. The fish and chicken pakoras are packed with flavour the mint chutney that comes with the pakoras is fresh you can actually taste the fresh mint.
If you are ever in that area, you must give this place a try you will not be disappointed. I know we will always be stopping off on our way to Whistler and on our way back to Vancouver.
