My wife and I and a few of our friends were riding our motorcycles on the loop from Victoria to Duncan out to Port Renfrew and then back to Victoria. We decided to stop along the way for a coffee and pastry at the Little Vienna Bakery Cafe in Sooke. It's located at 6726 West Coast Road and is easy access directly off of highway 14 into a large, nicely paved parking lot....important for motorcyclists! We were hooked as soon as we walked in because of the smell of fresh bread. They have a bunch of different sandwiches and soups for lunch, and two display cabinets full of incredible looking cakes and pastries. We ordered a bunch of cappuccino's and some desserts.....apple strudels, schnecke's, muffins, mille feuilles and kaiser kuchen. I had the Mille Feuilles and it was unbelievably good......authentic just like when were travelling in Europe and had some. We met the owner Michael, and were thrilled to find out him and his wife Susan were also motorcyclists. Michael rides a Ducati and Susan has a Kawasaki. Anyhow, the food, service and inside of the bakery were all great. We stuffed our saddlebags and top-cases with fresh breads, cheezes and balsamic vinegars that they also sell there and headed home to Victoria.
They also have a great big deck outside surrounded by gardens which will be a great place to sit once the weather warms up a bit......we'll be back and will recommend the Little Vienna Bakery Cafe to our friends.
This is a definite stop for anyone travelling through Sooke......its worth the trip!
