Happy to have a nice Greek restaurant in the area. Does not look much on the outside but on the inside is nice and warm. I love their Calamari and Lamb and Baklava. Service is friendly and casual. I would recommend it to others for as a lunch stop. It has potential for romantic dates. Love the Greek Music in the background. Will go back.
Consinstently one of the best steakhouses I have been to. Excellent food and very friendly and professional service. I had their signature Carver salad, altough i am not a blue cheese dressing fan this was wonderful. The Filet Mignon was extra tender and delicious as always and perfectly complemented with red wine reduction. Creme Brule was presented in two different flavours and as a very generous portion.
Not a huge sushi fan, but Aoi definitely does it right. Had dynamite rolls with california rolls, and a chicken terriyaki. Best terriyaki ever, but the rolls were quite mushy and greasy. Service could've been much better, no fluent English speakers which was kind of a let-down!
Definitely try this out if you're a sushi fan...if not, don't bother..was not anything spectacular.
This is my go-to place for any dim sum cravings. I come here with the family and when you have a bunch of family from Hong Kong... you have to trust their food judgement! (Or at least I do.) Anyway, whenever friends want dim sum, I will always bring them here. This place starts getting busy around 11:30 on weekends so your best bet is to come here at around 10. Keep in mind, that this place, of course also has a dinner menu if you want some 10 course Chinese meals. =)
The food: Food is great... there's a good selection. You have your typical stuff like siu mai and ha gao. One of the things they don't have on the carts that roll around is deep fried squid - one of my favourites. I was a bit sad about this but everything else they have makes up for it. Some of the most common things that come around - steamed spare ribs, shrimp eggrolls, chinese donut/bbq pork/shrimp wrapped in noodle, eggplant with shrimp, raddish cake, sticky rice.... the list goes on. Every now and then you'll get a gem like the shanghai soup buns or satay cuttlefish. For the more adventurous... there's tripe, beef tendon, and chicken feet. Then to top it all off, they have mango pudding. This is probably some of the best mango pudding I've had from a restaurant in a while. It's not like that cheap gelatinous mango pudding you get from most restaurants. This one has some good texture to it and melts in your mouth. I always ask for extra condensed milk on it... mmmmm. With that being said, definitely make sure you try and pace yourself so you get a chance to eat all the different types of dishes.
The service: I really like the service. The ladies there are super nice... even if you don't speak Chinese. They're very accomodating and patient. I have a somewhat, annoying group of friends who are all over the place when it comes to ordering/asking for things. One of the ladies there is awesome and made all of us at the table laugh with her antics. One time when I asked her what was on the cart, she even said to me "don't worry, you guys just got here I won't serve you guys dessert yet". I personally thought this was awesome because most cart style dim sum places will just try and force everything at you. Food comes out pretty fast, even though there are times where you'll go a few minutes without seeing any of the ladies with carts around. You don't really notice it though.
The value: Not much to say here. I think it has great value. Everything on the carts are $2.50 per dish. For 8 of us, we ended up paying about 14 bucks each (including tip) and we were stuffed. During the weekdays, if you finish eating and paying before 12, I believe you get something like 10-15% off (possibly more but I can't remember). Awesome!
Ambiance: It's a Chinese restaurant... what do you expect? It's going to be chattery. I think this place makes good use of the space they have. You're not bumping arms with other tables or anything either so you don't need to worry about some yappy patron talking over your conversations with your own table.
If you want a place with good food and you're tight on money (even if you're not), I feel that this place is definitely worth the trip to Richmond.
I have eaten here several times over the last few years. The food has been absolutely delicious every single time. Service is slightly variable, depending on how busy the restaurant is (and most of the time it is quite busy). Sometimes they are understaffed, and service can be a little lacking, but whatever staff they have, they do try their best. Sometimes I feel bad for them, as they have to rush in order to attend to all the tables. Despite this, the attitude of the staff is always very good. The decor is one of the best among Chinese restaurants. That huge mural on the wall is really impressive, especially good as a backdrop for photos.
My most recent visit was for dinner whereas previous visits were for lunch. The dinner portions are HUGE, and given the prices they charge and the quality of the food, they are unbeatable value for money.
I will have no hesitation returning to this place and recommending it to others.
We have eaten AYCE sushi at lunch here a couple of times. The service is quick. My only beef about that is that sometimes the items are placed on the table under your elbow… What is supposed to be hot is hot. I like that the rolls and other items are not too big. There is a big pot of tea. The price is good.
I've gone to the River Rock buffet on several occasions and was always left satisfied. Although I've heard iffy things about the breakfast, I really enjoyed the dinner buffets I've attended.
Last week we went there on a Thursday night for my dad's birthday. Thursday nights are a bit more expensive (23 or 25 I believe) compared to their advertised week day rate, it was worth it! Thursday night is Memphis BBQ night and it's ribs, brisket, roast chicken, pulled pork, hush puppies, pecan pie, cherry pie and peach cobbler- all the specialties were great!
As well as the BBQ theme items they had a variety of other hot items. Just off the top of my head- they had creamy polenta, catfish, pork buns, dumplings, fried rice, noodle dish, lobster cream sauce pasta, sundried tomato penne, a beef and a lamb dish, and much more.
I read a review saying that they only had a few salad items- they have at least 10 different salads! Maybe more, the salad course is a large course in itself because there are plenty of options to choose from.
As well, I always look forward to the dessert selection because they have a large selection of great desserts.
Service is prompt and friendly, my water glass stays full and as well as any other drinks (pop, juice, coffee, tea and sparkling water are all included).
Over all, my family and I really enjoy the river rock buffet dinner service and do not consider it cafeteria quality at all.
The first time we ordered the O Canada Pizza - this pizza was awesome. The best crust I have had since I was in Italy. The toppings were fresh, the service fast, and the pizza very tasty.
I had some friends over so we ordered the Bellissimo Italiano Pizza, the Aloha Ono Pizza, Caesar Classico, and the Lasagna Primavera. This time we had it delivered and for a Friday night we were amazed that it arrived within a half hour.
The food is awesome, the service amazing, and after having lived in Steveston for years we are delighted that we don't have to wait hours for our pie to arrive anymore!!!
Kudos to the Big Bite Pizza Team
I love the Belini's and Bite of Brownie!
I was very disappointed with the management when my steak was not cooked the way I requested. I advised the waitress that my steak was not to my liking, she brought the manager. He said it was impossible that the steak was done properly as the steaks are cooked to temperature. I felt as though I had to argue with this manager when all I wanted a good steak.
I have been to this location many times, I usually have a decent meal and the wait staff are usually always friendly.
I always enjoy a steak at the Keg. I usually go for the classic steak with ceasar salad and and loaded baked potato is always yummy :)
Last time I was at the Keg, it was a very busy night and I had made a reservation on the same day, my wife and I showed up and were brought to our table right a way. The best part was hearing another woman say to her husband "Why didn't you make a reservation!?" :)
I do miss the salad bar that the Keg Richmond had when I was a kid, my family used to go to this location every Friday. Now I only get to go a few times a year.
do not expect much when you step into the door of this restaurant. it is just a chinese diner that seemed to have better days..
however if you are really hungry and have limited funds in your pocket, then this can save you
the portions are huge and is usually in combinations with drinks and side
over half the time i would need to doggie bag the remaining food, so its good bang for your buck
the food is hit or miss, but i have my usual favorites so its not too bad
We ate here a couple of times, want to give it second chance by choosing different dishes from the first visit but food still wasn't very good, not really authentic malaysian, The tropika in Vancouver (cambie) was much better. So I guess we won't be visiting this location, instead we will be going to Vancouver for malaysian food.
I used to go to this thaison location every single Saturday with my family. We thought this was the best Pho place ever, cheap and good. Then the quality of their food started slipping. Their broth used to be rich and tasty and then just MSG-tasting. We stopped going here after we broadened our horizons and tried some other places. We then decided never to return to thaison because when it comes down to it, it's just a Pho fast food restaurant. There are so many other choices to go to in richmond.
I visited this place earlier this week for the first time. It was pretty good and probably one of the better Vietnamese restaurants I have tried. They had a variety of food to select from including set meals where you can select the type of noodle soup plus a side dish (e.g. salad roll, skewers etc) and a drink for less than $9
You will know WHO IS WHO? WHAT IS WHAT? who provides you a best service? who will give us a good / high quality of PHO? and environment too. Who is clean and acceptable when you need to use the WASHROOM...good food and good soup,,,
I visited this restaurant on 3rd Feb with my classmates. I was surprised at various menue because I just respected pancakes, egg and waffles. All food were good and served in time. I liked Swedish crepes and omelettes. I really enjoyed all foods. Services were also good. The waitress was very kind and friendly.Next time, I should like to go in evening with my family and try to have a dinner menue.
Great staff, great location, lots of parking, close to mall. All the girls there are very cute !! Very helpful !! Even if im not in the area i will go out of my way to go to this location just because they have way better and much more friendly service here !! ;-)
I went there on 4th Feb in the morning , I enjoyed the breakfast with my friends. The menue has a lot of varieties.
Food is tasty especially spinach omelet. Has a good service, the waitress was friendly . Price is reasonable.
Good and quiet place to take friends and family . WILL GO BACK
I'm always here. I have tried a lot of their cakes & sometimes I just repeat the same cakes because I'm afraid to try something new. I love the Lavender & Rose cheesecakes. The ones made with brownies are pretty good too. The lighter, Japanese style cheesecakes taste like mousse, which I don't like. And the mochaccino cake is the best cake in Vancouver to get at night. Every bakery that opens at night cannot compare and I know my cakes.
for the first time, I decided to try the pasta. I usually really love Aoyama, which serves the same Japanese style pasta. But this place only serves pasta & omurice, whereas Aoyama has other options. Sadly, I will never eat anything other than cake here. I had a regular pasta and it was tasteless. I could've thrown this together at home with like salt only. The chicken was subway chicken, which is terrible. It looks dehydrated & rehydrated. It's bubbly, chewy, and does not flake like real chicken does. My bf made the mistake of ordering the same thing. The mushrooms taste either dried (but that's not possible since it's super expensive) or pre-cut days/weeks ago. The garlic sauce was not much better. My bf basically described the pasta as all prepared separated & tossed together after all cooked. Nothing blended together. The chicken& mushrooms had no garlic taste. The asparagus was done well but was really cheap. It was sliced so thinly, I barely saw any flowers/heads. They were probably mostly stalks. Good asparagus should be kept whole and just sliced width-wise. Sorry, but please keep the cakes good! the service is usually very good and food came quickly. but quickness was unnecessary since more time is needed to prepare the food. The lights are too bright if they want to create a romantic atmosphere.
This place isn't bad and I might return if I order something different. we thought it was called "house of tofu" because it had a lot of different kinds of tofu hotpots, but they don't have many at all. Just one tofu hot pot but you can choose from 5-6 different meats & seafood to put in it. So I don't really get why they call themselves house of tofu. Why not just another korean name? They have a lot of typical Korean dishes instead. still the menu isn't large and we didn't have much to choose from. The menu is pretty simple and cute. But the tofu soup was also a miss because it did not have enough beef or seafood flavor. However, it does come in a large pot which the person scoops out for you and leaves open. But we always keep our rice hot, so we just put the rice back into the pot & covered the lid. I had rice cakes with dumplings in the white (nonspicy) sauce. They fried the mandu and poured rice cakes on top. That was terrible! They should've kept them apart. If the mandu was going to end up soggy, they should've just steamed them. Still, the server was quite friendly & gladly refilled our side dishes and they were fairly good. The restaurant reminds me of a canteen but is very spacious.
I've been looking for good Korean food in Richmond and sadly I'm still looking. This place looks lovely and reminds you of home. Very spacious too. So props for that. However, their menu isn't as big as other restaurants; it doesn't have a lot of small dishes. They have meals, meat dishes, platters, and large hot pots. So we just had two personal meals. They are very stingy on the side dishes. Kimchi are not refillable. The owner was reluctant to even refill the other side dishes. I think there's only 1 refill on side dishes other than kimchi. The salad that comes with the meals was combined into one plate, assuming we want to share our food. But the salad was so small, it was meant more for one person. The seafood/beef tofu soup had mostly mussels and 1 half piece of shrimp. The bowl itself is smaller than typical Korean restaurants. they try to make this up by offered a few leaves of lettuce & a half bowl of congee. Medium was not hot enough for my bf and he found it lacked in flavor. It had almost no beef in it. I had the stirfried beef udon. There wasn't enough beef and many of the pieces had a lot of fat in it. However, everything was hot (but all Korean restaurants make this a priority) and the udon was quite tasty. Still not as tasty as Good Friends. But $9.99 per meal isn't worth it when we can get a bigger bowl & better taste for $8.95 that includes better & unlimited side dishes. The side dishes did not have enough variety and I didn't want to eat them all like I usually do at some really good restaurants. Perhaps their lack of MSG is the reason for the meal not being satisfying at all, but then I'd rather eat at another restaurant even if it has MSG as long as it tastes better. We left still thinking that the best Korean restaurants are in Burnaby & Coquitlam, with a couple in downtown.
