White Spot located on No 3 Road in Richmond. With over 60 locations in British Columbia and Alberta, White Spot has been serving unique, freshly prepared dishes in a contemporary, casual atmosphere for over 75 years.
I love their burgers. Just thinking about it is making me hungry. Their Caesar Wrap is pretty good too, although most of their food is over-priced.
If you're looking for a White Spot to go to at Richmond, it's better at Ackroyd since it's bigger than the one at Richmond Centre and it's always packed at Richmond Centre anyway.
Went here with the parents recently. There was a wait at the door I assume because it was sunday around noon (all the after churchers coming in). We were seated within about 15 minutes.
Food was standard white spot. Stick with the burgers and simple stuff and you can't really go wrong. I did notice that the top of my burger bun was a little hard but nothing to get all worked up about.
We had amazing service from a lovely girl named Freda I believe. She was one of those servers who is just constantly on top of things. Always noticing if your water, coffee, or pop is getting close to being empty and offering refills. She was just really pleasant and on top of things.
I don't have high expectations for chain restaurants in terms of food or service. Food was what I expected. Service was way better that expected.
We were at this place a year ago, before the DineHere site was up, and were quite impressed. Breakie for 8 of us and it was flawless. Did not see the check so cannot rate that part of the meal, but it was a favourable, past experience. Decided to do it again. Maybe it was an off day? It took a moment or two before we were seated. It was a moment or two before the server came around to take our breakie orders. Might mention that the food arrived quite quickly and when you are dealing with eggs and toast, that is most important. So the food arrived and was demolished with relish. Then, there we sat. No One Came Back to see if we were still alive or if we had failed the poison test. Needing to get back to work, we took the check, (which finally arrived), to the front so that I could pay and get out of there. Sad that the food was great, actually, so absolutely awesome, and here I am remembering the staff, clerical delays... That's what happened. Hopefully just an odd staff off day.
"They don't make 'em like they used to." Whoever said that could have been talking about some of the food served here. The Nat Bailey's Big Breakfast hasn't changed much and is still pretty much the same. So are the egg benedicts and the Sunny Starts. The coffee is same too. But when a person orders waffles with strawberries and is served canned strawberries, what?!?!?! Strawberries are on sale at local markets for $5.00 for 2 boxes all the time. And that's the price everyday customers pay. I'm sure a restaurant would get a better rate. So how does one explain canned strawberries???? I agree with the reviewer who said Nat Bailey would not be proud.
I was there after a wedding on a Sunday afternoon and I was blown off the roof by how amazing the service was. There were 12 of us in total and usually we would expect to be split up or have really poor service, but they were so nice to us. I would go just because of the service.
Food was as usual - like any other white spot. Too much sauce, but so darn tasty.
So I usually don't have anything against whitespot...its good wholesome caucasian food. But this particular ackroyd location is awful! I went there probably 3 times in one month.
The first time we got placed way in the back corner booth and our waiter must of forgotten about us more than once because it took forever to bring our drinks, appys, and food. Once our appy, the calamari, finally came...after 40 minutes of waiting, it wasn't golden brown like how it should be but border line burnt. We begrudginly ate it. Then our entree's came...both me and my friends burger buns were hard and crunchy on the top and soggy on the bottom, I guess from the juice that seeped out from the coleslaw. It's like our waiter forgot about us for the third time and left our food under the heat lamp.
Anyways the second time we went our waitress was very rude and acted like she didn't want to be there at all and when my friends ceasar came the leaves were all soggy and wilted and same thing happened with the burger buns.
The third time it was super busy so they told us to have a seat at the bar and order any appy which we did and they'd move us to a table when one was available...they never did. No big deal but those stools are very uncomfortable. I asked for letucce, tomato and onions on my burger and they only put the lettuce and instead of taking it back into the kitchen to fix it she brings me out a plate with a tomato and onion on it... like gee thanks.
My advice to you would be to go to the whitespot in richmond center or take the drive out to vancouver or somewhere else if that one is closed. It will deffinetly be worth your time and gas.
I came here 3 times.
1st time was before xmas of 2010 when it was snowing in richmond, the first and last snow of the winter. I tried the burger and it was no different from the triple o burger, except it was served to you on a plate. The calamari was nothing special. The waitress seemed rushed and slightly reluctant to serve us.
Second time was when i did take away and ordered a $12 wt ever legend burger. in fact it was a legendary disappointment. the meat was thinner than super market patties, no vegetables, no sauce, no mushrooms. ????. I live really close and luckily i wasnt in a bad mood otherwise id go back n totally explode at that high school barbie girl. she was lucky that she that her looks were able to fool guys like me.
Third time i ordered another burger wit zuccini sticks to giv the place another chance. MY fault, the zucini was so hard i was better off goin to save on n makin myself a zucini salad. the burger which was another legendary or nat bailey style was no different. thin meat patty, rushed service, sticky table n garbage everywhere.
Not goin unless im starvin or if they get their act together. Im sure Nat bailey would be disappointed
Food: Had the Spot Chicken Burger and Chipotle Chicken Wrap. Substitued sweet potato fries for one of the sides. Both burger and wrap were very good, chicken cooked just right (not too dry). Both normal fries and sweet potato fries were a bit soggy, so that was disappointing.
Service: Was fast. Came by to check things were ok.
Value: Average for this type of restaurant. The substituted sweet potato fries was a good, heaping portion.
Ambiance: Nice and clean. Has booths, tables, and bar seating. Also has wide screen TVs. A couple times during lunch though, there was an enormous amount of smoke coming out of the kitchen area, made the entire place smell like the grill, bbq smell. That wasn't too pleasant.
Overall, standard White Spot quality. Better than the other White Spot restaurants around that I've tried.
The service I've gotten here from many different waiters has consistently been outstanding. They're always upbeat and helpful. I like White Spot as a chain in general but overall, this location has been the best IMO. I've never actually had a meal here that was poorly prepared and it's really nice and cozy.
Never a bad choice for a meal out. A good variety of good ol burgers, pastas, salads, breakfast classics and all the usual casual fare. Food is not outstanding, but always of satisfying and decent quality, nice portions and fair prices. You can count on professional service. Just a fine, cozy place overall for a comforting experience.
I don't have much to say about this White Spot location. The food and the service is beyond subpar, unlike the other White Spot locations I've dined at.
Though there were plenty of available tables, I was seated in the bar section. The waiter-slash-bartender was nice, though obviously inexperienced. In fact, all of the staff are inexperienced, and most of them are plain rude... But I digress. The drink I ordered was not what I received; in place of a peach bellini, I received some pomegranate vodka slush, which was not taken back and corrected. The food, including the salad, seemed to be made of sodium. Yuck!!!
I suppose that this could be due to either inexperience or laziness, but the server lied to me about an ingredient which I am allergic to. I had specifically asked the server to be sure that nothing I ordered so much as touches nuts, let alone include any. I was assured, profusely, that it wouldn't be a problem. I had ordered a plain salad and chicken on rice, which didn't list any nuts as an ingredient either... Yet I somehow ingested nuts or traces of nuts. When I discussed this with someone over the phone later, I was told "Well, yeah, of course there may be nuts" and that was that.
So if you like good food, good service, and not having an allergic reaction... Don't eat here!
White Spot is one of those great family restaurants. The meals are savory, but priced a bit higher than I prefer. I love the turkey sandwich meal. The pasta tastes a bit plain and lacks a certain taste. The kids pirate ship is a cute idea. My little brother usually has the macaroni and cheese and I love to steal some of his pasta. The only problem is having to wait for the meal. The wait is long most of the time. The service is friendly and answers our requests with a smile.
This is not White Spot. My White Spot doesn't have a sports bar. My White Spot doesn't have trendy high tables and chairs. My White Spot doesn't need to compete with the Cactus Club/Milestone's/Sammy J's.
Why oh why does WS keep trying to do ethnic? Why oh why am I sucked in? I have tried their version of Tuscan (yuck!) Chinese (ew!) and now Indian (OMG!) Their idea of the classic Butter Chicken starts with (I'm positive) a can of Campbell's Cream of Tomato soup. It is not savoury and not even a tiny bit spicy like Butter Chicken should be. It's kind of sweet and runny and the rice (not basmati) was gummy. (BTW, kitchen staff - if the rice does happen to burn on the bottom, DO NOT scrape the pot when you serve the it - the crispy brown chunks are not appreciated!) Dear, cute perky waitress - c'mon, admit it - what you call naan bread is actually pita. Hey, I do this at home too - I don't mind it at all, but don't lie to me when I mention it.
(Note to self: Recpeat 10 times while hitting head against wall - STICK TO THE BURGERS!)
they must clean up. fries are too well done. burgers come in cold, and service is terrible. too busy of a location, too little servers, and the quality has come down. floors are dirty and the kitchen must do better. try other locations till they do better in this one.
Not a frequented location but certainly the best, by far, that I've been to.
Decor is like the other locations, however this one feels more comfortable to dine in. Service is good and the floor staff are friendly and attentive. Welcoming smiles during check ups.
Food quality is much of the same, but a step, two steps better. Burgers are still heavy on the sauce (I really believe this is a deliberate move) but much more enjoyable and without the greasy feeling afterwards. Fries are still only ok at best. Very generous on the colesaw, which is fantastic, in my opinion.
Finally, a good location.
